Awesome, one of the best haircut experiences ever, they know what they are doing, and not pretentious about it! Will definitely be going back!

Shout out to one of the coolest chick at Tao, Lily! When it comes to haircut and colour I became really picky because most often than not the hairdresser weren’t really attentive to what I wanted. So far Lily cut my hair 6 times this year and put beautiful colour from blue, blue-​green, purple and ash blue. I will definitely get back again and recommend people to book in advance.

My previous hairdresser closed without warning so I decided to try this place based on Unilocal reviews.
The music is funky, there are lots of staff, the service is great and Lily did a fantastic job of my colour and cut. The hair colors smell really nice (even though they are bad chemicals) and I got a free infra-​red hair treatment, which left my hair feeling amazing.
It cost $ 219 for a full head colour and cut, which is starting to get up on the scale but I was there for 3 hours and I’m really happy with my hair. Recommended!

Walked pass this place everyday to and from work. I’ve been coming here for the past year and a half and will never change hairdresser ever again! Staffs are so attentive, they always remember me and they make me feel comfortable. Normally I have to wash my hair again after getting my hair done (sometimes they style it wrong, put too much product or my hair become unnaturally straight — or maybe I’m just fussy!) but never after an appointment at Tao.
I can go on forever on how fantastic this place is but overall they are amazeballs! :)

I really loved the look of the place. It looked funky and edgy and was small — all which greatly appealed to me. I had such high hopes for this place. I expected personalised service and passionate people given the boutique style. I went in for a cut, colour and moisture treatment. I walked out 4 hours later quite irritated at the amount of time I was left sitting there. I honestly felt forgotten and I had a multitude of people working on my hair rather than one. I didn’t feel like I received a personalised experience but it was cheaper than my normal hairdresser. That being said, the old adage ‘you get what you pay for’ sure rang true.

would be the best salon i’ve ever been too. however i’ve called 17 times today already to book an appointment and no answer every time! Please get a permanent receptionist, it makes it extremely frustrating for customers when you don’t answer your phone calls

Finally I’ve found somewhere to get my hair cut regularly!
Firstly, the price. $ 39. $ 6 more than I was paying but worth every penny.
The service: Lily was gorgeous, warm and chatty. She was very accommodating and made every effort to be friendly.
The cut: Very good. I was surprised actually because my hair was cut dry and I have wavy hair which can be difficult to work once it gets a bit of length but Lily worked it like a champion, gave it a wash then did a couple of minor touch ups afterwards. I definitely felt like she knew what she was doing and was trying to get the best result. I will definitely be back

There is a lot of trust involved with hair, I finally decided to venture out and try this place opposed to the long drive to my usual hair dresser. I was just after a cut, and had a great experience at Tao and was a good price. What I can not rave enough about is the sinks where they wash your hair, they are more like a flat bed for washing your hair, no horrible basin sticking into your neck making you feel like your neck is going to seize up if you get up too fast. When it comes to hairdressers, I’m probably one of the most picky people alive — for one, I like building a relationship with my stylist. There needs to be trust and a foundation for creative licence; I like entrusting my hair onto people who have creativity and aren’t afraid to suggest something different.
It’s hard to find that in Perth — in fact, that is the reason why I always return to my hairdresser overseas in Singapore at least twice a year. But, after my cousin (who has also done the rounds in finding a reliable stylist in Perth) recommended Tao of Hair, I decided to pop in to give it a shot.
I’ve been back twice now and I have to recommend booking an appointment with Daniel. He’s a very humble and down to earth stylist with not only a wealth of experience, but a creative eye and a real passion for constant self improvement and doing things differently.
A cut and blow dry is priced at $ 50, which is very reasonable considering that he’s a senior stylist/​the owner. I’ve also had my haircut by Lily before — she’s super sweet and really takes into account personal suggestions. Tao of Hair is also the only salon I’d trust for all my wacky hair colour ideas — i.e. come the day if I ever want to have lilac or green hair again, that is salon I’d trust.

If you’re after a very different hair experience — then come here! Not your run of the mill salon.
Perfect to pop by after work for a wash n blow dry — with their dim lighting and trendy décor it’s a great place to unwind.

I was in the market for a haircut (split ends trim + some light styling of my sidebangs) and I wanted a good hairstylist, better than just salon express, but not the crazy-​expensive places that are all over Perth. Based on Unilocal,I went with Tao of Hair.
It’s a great little salon, stylish, clean, and good chairs. When I walked in the place was empty, so I didn’t have to wait at all (but a couple other people came in while I was getting my haircut). The ladies were incredibly polite and formal, but also warm.
I don’t like to chat when I’m getting my hair done, and the stylist picked up on that really quickly and let me be :) I really value that — can’t tell you how many times I get someone wanting to talk talk talk the whole time!
I have really long hair (past my bellybutton) but they were really cool about dealing with it. The stylist did a great job of shaping my sidebangs. I wanted a nice gentle curve, and got just that — I was worried about getting a really steep ‘edgy’ cut because that’s what a lot of girls go for, but she gave me just what I wanted.
On the negative side, combing out of my hair + washing was rather rough, but I have a sensitive scalp and I didn’t really speak up about it, so that’s probably as much my fault as theirs.
When time came to pay, they charged me $ 45, their standard cut+wash price — despite my hair being really long (I’ve been charged extra for that before!) and them putting through a shine treatment. I was impressed and pleased.
All in all, I really liked this place, and I intend to go back next time I need any hair work. Thanks guys!

This salon is only three weeks old situated in the arcade near Wolf Lane off Hay Street the theme of Tao is trendy and relaxed with black walls and white stencil art, black and white pictures of Edward Scissor hands and Marilyn Monroe on one wall. They are not your typical salon with comfy woven Cain chairs with cushions instead of your average black leather roller chairs. They have huge white framed dressing room mirrors. The space is very minimalistic and modern with quirky accessories and decorations such as the main ceiling light, and the dear head put together with bits of plywood. There was only one lady working there so to get started I had to wait a bit while she prepared … with people walking down the arcade past the big windows apart from the slow start I really enjoyed my hair experience here. They did a great job and the products contain natural ingredients and don’t smell entirely fake and poisonous. The lady who did my hair was really friendly and down to earth and it wasn’t one of those awkward no talking hair experiences. They are doing 20% off in their opening month so people should go and visit this quirky little salon.
