The owners started this in the 80s. They were one of the early successful business people from the 80s Vietnamese refugee arrivals. They still work in the deli but it’s nice to see their grandkids working here on the weekend — keep it in the family. Love coming here for a takeaway Vietnamese lunch on Saturday mornings.

SOHAPPYTOFIND A PERFECTASIANGROCERSOCLOSETOME! I came here for the first time last night to pick up a few bits and pieces for a homemade beef phở and left with 3 large bags of delicious pastes, sauces, herbs, sweets & lunch the next day. The prices are SO cheap and this deli is open until 7 weekdays. You can find fresh herbs & Asian vegetables, frozen meats, dumplings, huge range of Asian sweets, teas & coffees and yummy take home meals. This place really doesn’t look like much from the front but they pack so much into this little place! I will definitely be coming here instead of the usual coles for my asian goods as they are so fresh, cheap and only a short walk across the park! LOVEIT

It’s a rickety store from the front(all the best Asian grocers are); sitting on a quiet corner out the outskirts of Perth(technically in the 6000 zone but I’d classify it better in the 6006 of North Perth). The store stocks all your Asian cooking needs — condiments, noodles, pickled foods, Panda cookies as well as frozen obscure meats and fresh Asian greens. The real hidden treasure at Ton Sian is they sell some of the freshest, tastiest and cheapest Asian lunch snacks. You’ll find a small fridge of chopped salads like green mango and prawn, as well as great veggie Vietnamese rice paper rolls that are a bit different from the usual; they go easy on the noodles to make way for chunks of mushroom, tofu and carrot. You get 3 for $ 5. Ton Sian also stock their own flaky curry puffs at $ 1 a pop. The greatest novelty that got me camera happy though, was the shelf of kooky sago puddings –take a look at my pics.
