This place is a definite must stop if you’re looking for fancy food in the Hunter Valley. From the service to the attention to detail to the backdrop everything was fabulous. The chef wowed us in every course, very impressive, will definitely come back

Checked out this restaurant for a quick lunch! Yum! Had the beef cheeks and the trout, both very well prepared! :) Service was fantastic and the interior is delightfully cozy!

Visited The Hunter for a surprise birthday party, the highlight of which was dinner at Botanica. 10 of us sat down to what has to be be of the best meals I’ve had for some time. Low key service, beautiful décor and fantastic food. Following a delightful artichoke soup amuse bouché, I had an entrée of duck pâté and a main of veal and chorizo. All were superbly cooked and presented. Our table was a typical family affair, baby included… we moved around, rambled on and feasted wonderfully. We were the last to leave and did so with many thanks to the staff for making it a splendid evening. Will definitely visit again when in The Hunter Valley.

From the first moment we walked in to the minute we walked out, we felt very well looked after. The staff are young but they were very attentive and quick to come to the tables even though they were fairly busy. My sister and I were at the Hunter for a few days and boy were we glad we came here. Two courses with a garden salad on the side was plenty of food. I had the kingsfish and my sister had the duck. The chef sent us both complimentary soft shell crab which was a nice surprise. During the course of the evening, I accidentally overreached across the table for the garden salad and knocked over my wine which was promptly refilled. Had the semi-freddo which was yum. The crêpe suzette was a little tad sweet for my liking. Will be back for sure!

The food here was first class: delicious fresh produce from the vineyard garden, superb quality seafood, served with a slightly Asian inflection(ginger, green pawpaw, chilli, etc). The scallops were huge and so beautifully seared, and the caramelised pork belly and steak with porcini cream were both brilliant. Was a bit disappointed with the service, though; out waitress was young and enthusiastic, but failed to fill up our water or wine adequately, and brought two of three meals a good five minutes before the other. We had to approach two other waitresses during the course of a single meal to get the service we required, which is a bit underwhelming in a restaurant of this quality. Food 5 stars, service 3 stars.
