It’s a brand new year and we’re celebrating by getting the Yelp Elite Squad back together at Richmond rooftop, Union Dining Terrace for our first Yelp Elite Event of the year.

There will be delicious canapes from the Union Dining kitchen, refreshing Prosecco from Dal Zotto Wines and back by popular demand, beer from Feral Brewing.

For your sweet tooth, Spun Fairy Floss will be spinning their delicious treats (and if you have dietary restrictions — this fairy floss is vegan and free of preservatives, lactose, gluten, and sodium!)

I loved this event! Delicious fairy floss from Spun Fairy Floss, great beer by Feral and delightful bubbles by Dal Zotto. Union Dining is always a pleasure to visit. A fun evening!

It was a chilled intro into 2015 with all the new Elite Unilocalers.
The Union Dining rooftop was fabulous, the Prosecco flowed easily, the canapes were delicious (hello prawns!) and the fairy floss dude was a delight.
It was good to catch up with the familiar faces and some new ones too.
Special shout out to Mel P — who as always — was a gracious host and rocked the megaphone.
Here’s to many more events in 2015 with all the cool peeps.

What a wonderful event! This was the perfect venue for a few casual proseccos and a delicious arancini ball (or ten). The space is absolutelu gorgeous and the staff were so friendly that nobody minded that the sunshine refused to show its face (rude!). Seriously, the speeches were very sweet and the offer of a future drink on the house was just so generous. These guys are clearly passionate about their business and it was contagiously exciting. Is it just me, or is Adam the sweetest guy in the world?
Thanks to Mel for organising, Union for hosting, Feral and Dal Zotto for supplying booze, and oh! the fairy floss! Sugar coma, come at me.

Union Dining has been a fave of mine for a while and I was delighted to learn that there is an actual rooftop terrace. Hooray.
There was fairy floss, beer, delicious Prosecco… Loved the delicious rice balls.
Being entertained by the fairy floss guy’s knowledge of his flavoured sugars was the highlight.

A great way to start off another year with fellow Unilocalers. Unfortunately no one had informed the weather Gods that it was summer.
As always, the food, drinks and most importantly the venues staff were amazing.
Was great to see many old and new faces and that Kevin S didn’t win a prize.

It was an unexpected delight to receive an invite to this event as a newbie to Unilocal.I hope in time I’ll become as friendly with others as I observed many being.
The venue was a delight, I’ve walked past it without realising the rooftop was there. I think it would benefit from its own checkin on Unilocal to separate it from the restaurant below. Every aspect of this place had a touch of class.
The food was nice, the drinks we’re lovely and the candy floss and its owners plan for his new popcorn machine reminded me of «The nights circus» by Erin Morgenstern which is an amazing book. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for salted caramel flavour!
Also, if you’re going to have a brewery as a sponsor you can’t go wrong with Feral Brewing from WA. Hop Hog is one of the best vote Aussie beers.

What a night we had. Mel P and her great efforts got this party started.
Union Dining, What a place, Great choice of a venue and a terrace that is worth checking out. We were showered with choices, the food treats like the prawn sticks and the rice balls from the guys at Union. The return of the Prosecco from Dal Zotto which was a treat and I know people enjoyed them. My favorite and drink of the night was Hop Hog Summer Ale from Feral Brewing always a good time to be had there. For that little extra treat we were also spoilt with Fairy Floss from Spun Fairy Floss.
On first arrival I could see everyone getting comfortable, alot of people with their plus ones finding comfort, talking about how cool Unilocal is and why we are all here today. As usual I bring a few people along who could not rave enough about Unilocal and just want to know more. Its a great delight to be part of something so cool that people just get an exciting feeling talking about it.
Making my way around the room I had the delight of meeting many new faces and my old favorites every one which having an amazing time and smiles and good chats on everyone. I had an amazing time and along with the people I brought along, everyone was so welcoming and the vibe felt great.
Mel you kicked off 2015 with a bang, and you keep setting the bar higher and higher, but each time you step to the plate. I love the new addition of the microphone :)

Great to start of the year with a bang, seeing familiar faces and meeting some new ones. Sure I’m not as in it as the usual suspects who seem to know every face but starting to feel like a part of the family, which a year ago would never even have crossed my radar! So happy to meet some newbies and hope they will find the journey as wonderful as I have.
What a lovely little terrace too provided kindly by Union Dining, and the arancini balls just gave me a taste for more. You know you’re in for a good time when the staff tell you the TYPE of cheese used. Not my usual area of town so lovely to discover somewhere new.
I’m not normally keen on dry whites but Dal Zotto’s Prosecco was eminently drinkable. Cheers to 2015.

Really great event to kick off 2015, it was especially wonderful to be introduced to one of Richmond’s best kept secrets: Rooftop drinks at the Union. Not scoring an amazing evening weather-​wise just means we all have to go back when the sun doth shine to really soak it all in!
Much fun was had seeing everyone revert back to their childhoods shoving the sticky sweet fairy-​floss into their gobs with glee, and the fella running it was great for a chat too. Cant vouch for the prawn skewers, as a little on the allergic side unfortunately, but the arancini balls were delish and it was great to see the return of WA beer faves Feral Brewing to help wash them down.
Meanwhile my Plus 1 was absolutely loving the Dal Zotto Prosecco — which is lucky because she was the winner of a bottle thanks to the check-​in lucky dip! Thanks Mel!

I live so close yet never realised this gem was hiding around the corner. Thank you Union Dining for hosting us on your lovely rooftop terrace, it’s a perfect place a group soirée or to hang out in the summer. Topped off with delicious Prosecco from Dal Zotto — who shared some of the great history behind the label.
Another big thanks to you Mel P for bringing this all together. it’s always a lovely vibe and wonderful way to explore new places & drinks and I love being able to invite guests who may be new to Unilocal to get a sample of the awesomeness

Being an outsider from the US i didnt know what to expect. For the 1st Unilocal event of the year i absolutely loved it. I met so many great people and potentially good friends. The good and service was superb. Thank you Mel for this awesome event.

So we kicked the year off with fairy floss and a roof top.
Yes, the Melbs weather was her typical moody self but that didn’t dampen the mood at all.
The fairy floss and arancini balls were amazing, as were the bubbles. My new year resolution of ‘try new things’ took a side-​step when I couldn’t bring myself to eat those tasty looking prawns. My loss by the sounds of it!
I was guilty of not mingling as much as usual but so were a lot of people I think? First event nerves perhaps?
Did I mention the fairy floss? I might start stalking Spun everywhere they go…

Thank you Mel for organising a wonderful night. I very much enjoyed my first elite event, the Union Dining terrace is a great spot for drinks and nibbles & definitely a place to consider for a private function. Loved the delicious arancini balls & prawn sticks offered by the friendly staff, and who would have thought fairy floss & sparkling prosecco would go so well together.

Oh Melbourne you are such a harsh mistress. Cleary you jealously at not getting a formal invite to join us bought such socially awkward weather. Why else would the sun mock our roof top event? Never fear the Melp was here to save the day with great planning.
The terrace area hosted plenty of under cover area to hide from potential and threatening rain. The tables and seats had been dried off from earlier sprinkles. The area here is perfect for afterwork drinks. Nice open space with a pleasant view. And a giant fish watching over you.
It was great to see so many new faces joining us. Even if I didn’t get to see many of them (my bad!) the friendliest faces came from the staff, who not only expertly poured Dal Zotto prosecco but also turned up like little cleaning ninjas to take away used napkins, glasses etc. There wasn’t any bottles of Feral beer left around. It was happy drunk in hand and the empties whisked away.

There was another great Check-​In special. This time a few lucky people got Unilocal summer goodies bags. Thank you Kevin for not winning this time.

Long time listener, first time caller. My first Unilocal Elite event without the status — maybe this is why the wife gets frustrated at me for playing (or should I say Unilocaling) at the dinner table. Hopefully she can one day see the light & spend a little more time Unilocaling than trip advising (trip advising just doesn’t seem to roll off the tongue as well as a Unilocal,does it???).
Unfortunately didn’t quite get to talk to as many people as I hoped, but after a 12 hour day at work, that 1st beer certainly put me in that chill out mode.
The arancini balls went down a treat, but being an enemy of the crustacean family, I had to pass on the little suckers.
Had a good chat to Peter, the spun fairy floss king, who went further into his little popcorn venture which just made the mouth water even more. But his love of food trucks like the New York back streets are covered in is inspirational. You have not lived until you have experienced the various styles of food you can experience from a NYC food truck.
After various messages back & forth, I finally got to meet the famous Mel P. She sure does seem like a hoot!!!
And to top off the night, I get a lucky Unilocaly door prize. YaY me!!! Definitely going to put that frisbee to some use on the long weekend (love those things!!!)
If I get back to one of these things, I must make it my mission to get around and talk to you all & steal some of those hidden culinary hot spots from you all…

With her super magical megaphone machine, Melp organise another great Elite event. On a summer rooftop of all things (which I actually didn’t realise existed)…
