This is a great Vegetarian/Vegan café nestled in the hills in Roleystone. They have a wide range of options and do all day breakfast(finishes at 3 I think). We had the vegan big breakfast and it was A-OK. I think it would be better if all the items were hot/warm, but it seemed to be a mixture of hot and cold food on the one plate. I was disappointed by the wedges — was expecting big chunky potato wedges but they were actually thin roasted carrots. They were still tasty, as was the aioli they came with, but not really ‘wedges’. The Coffee was amazing! So so tasty and easily the best bit of the meal. I’ll be back :)

Today 3 girl friends took me to the most wonderful and different high tea. I have very specific dietary requirements due to my cancer treatment and my friend eats paleo due to an auto-immune condition. We were all catered with grace. When the tiered plates arrived it was like receiving layers of rainbow coloured jewels. I felt like Alice at the Mad Hatters Tea Party. Each dish sparkled in its on way and the platters had spirals, domes and twirls making it all just look so enticing. The upside of this delicious meal was that it’s vegetarian and so healthy. The turmeric and ginger kombucha was served in champagne flutes and tasted like zingy heaven. The chef came and explained all the dishes and she’s studying nutritional medicine and very devoted to her craft. A beautiful afternoon in a divine place. We’ll be back.

The staff here are always so friendly and there’s a lovely laid back, homely atmosphere in the place. There’s a lovely view around the café as it’s set back from the road in the bush. Everything on the menu sounds delicious and they’ve got a good selection of cakes, including flourless and vegan. The food was delicious, however both times I’ve had coffee I was disappointed. Maybe I have high standards though, because mum and dad thought it was fine.

Driving to Roleystone was an adventure in itself because none of us live nearby the area. Genesis in the Hills was quite easy to find and we were welcomed by sunshine, organic herb garden, blossomed flowers as well as friendly staff who showed us to our table. Most of us went with the easy choice, the full breakfast and some went for the shakshuka. We weren’t disappointed at all and I saw some frowns changed to grins on the face of the male people in our group. I really enjoy their tempe side dish, unfortunately this was removed from the breakfast menu the last time we went there. I enjoyed the homemade flour-less chocolate cake and found out from the staff that they made their own sandwich bread daily. I went back last month with a different group of friends and still found the dining experience enjoyable.

I tried this restaurant out some time ago and had a walk around Araluen Park afterwards. Definitely a pleasant way to while away a few hours. Overall, I was happy with the restaurant: all food and drinks were of excellent quality and presentation, the décor was fascinating, the service was friendly and efficient and the location was beautiful. There were also plenty of vegan choices, thankfully. My only complaint would be that it’s a little pricey though I would still be happy to cough up for the experience of dining there once in a while. Recommended.

Who knew that vegetarian and vegan food could taste this good? Genesis uses the freshest produce and EVOO. With some skilful grilling(for the non-raw items at least), their dishes can really like a good steak. I simply love the cakes here. They aren’t beautiful to look at but they sure are delicious. They’re not overly sweet, and are chock full of goodness, European style. They had high chairs for my two kids, and were very warm and friendly. The restaurant is set in an idyllic and quaint location. Great place to eat after visiting Araluen Botanic Park.

This restaurant is the perfect place to escape busy city life. There is indoor and outdoor seating, but if it is not too hot, definitely go and sit out on the deck. It feels like a little haven surrounded by trees. We arrived late morning for breakfast service. You place your order up at the counter and they will happy do split billing if you are a group of less than four. One of the wait staff was very considerate to come up to our table to mention that a large group had placed their order before us and there would be a little bit of a wait for our meals. Whilst we were waiting, we were greeted by the resident dog. S(he) is elderly and walks up the guests for a pat or to sit at your feet. I ordered the Full Breakfast with eggs. Everything was fresh and very delicious. Whilst it was a little bit pricey, as a vegetarian I want to support the amazing effort the people of Perth put into creating delicious vegetarian and vegan food. We need more quality restaurants like Genesis.

My favourite place to get away for fresh country air and rolling views. Bookings are a must! Ask for an outside verandah table.

I love a good vegetarian find, and willing to clock up a few kms to try it out. Whilst the light and healthy meals were fresh, they were a bit overpriced and not really day trip worthy — the destination however, certainly is. Quite literally nestled among the Perth Hills, the tranquil and charming Australiana surrounds are the real drawing card here. If you’re a sweet tooth, you could argue the cakes are worth the trek also. Moist and sticky, yoghurt and fruit based cakes. I pat myself on the back for passing up on a piece of the Banoffee meringue!
