Ungaro Raw is a vegan, raw, vegetarian café that specialises in organic foods and beverages.

Our menu has a wide selection of dishes that cater for healthy eaters looking for nut, dairy, gluten, wheat and animal free, low GI, body healing, cellular nourishing, affordable and freshly prepared meals.

History

Established in 2013.

Our owner Lee Ungaro was motivated to re-​evaluate her lifestyle after being confronted with two cancer scares in a 12 month period and the loss of her partner. Lee found herself in a dark place and decided to face her fears, follow her passion, change her lifestyle and open this exciting eatery that caters for people with health concerns or are just health conscious and selective about the type of food they consume.

The business opened in August 2013 with a wonderful friendly bunch of staff that all enjoy the healthy options we offer and the friendly local customers that venture in for a relaxed but healthy meal.

Amazing presentation. Food was delicious. I had a smoothie that was out of this world. Best place for healthy and delicious food.
Staff was cooperative and helpful. Service was great. Best experience overall and would definitely recommend to all.

Snog. Good healthy option. Ungaro do a great green smoothie, which is one of the things that keeps pulling me in. I have also tried the chill burger — while the veggie burger pattie was very good, the burger as a whole was a little unexciting. I like to see a heap of different veggies in my vego burgers rather than just a bit of lettuce, tomato and cucumber. My mother loved her omelet though, which was cooked perfectly and generous in size. The service was friendly but a little inconsistent — was hard getting their attention for a coffee order after the meal.

My hubby and I found this place today and had high hopes as Sydney isn’t that vegan-​friendly and it was nice to find a place that had several vegan options. We started with a soy mocha and almond milk hot chocolate which were both fabulous. Then we asked the server to recommend the best dishes and we ordered those. I had the ungaro burger and it is the blandest veggie burger I have ever tasted. Which is saying a lot. I’ve had dozens of different veggie burgers from dozens of restaurants around the world. It’s as if the cook/​chef decided that herbs and seasoning simply weren’t necessary. Even the bun was bland. The fries were excellent which was my consolation prize, I guess. My husband had the veggie balls (with toast), which also tasted completely unseasoned and the only saving grace of that dish was the delicious tomato sauce. The toast didn’t complement the dish in any way so not sure why they paired those together. I almost always order dessert when I can get my hands on vegan treats but based on our meals I passed. So disappointed as the lunch wasn’t cheap.

Quick friendly service and the Vegan big breakfast was pretty good, let down mainly by the quality of the fried tomatoes. Home made baked beans and mushrooms were very good.

First time here. Nice layout and location and a good size menu with lots of options.
I had the Delightful Root Juice (Apple, Beetroot, Pineapple and Ginger) and the Vege Burger.
I thought juice was a bit unbalanced, quite strong on the Beetroot and could have done with some more Apple and Ginger but it was tasty all the same.
The Vege Burger was something else. It was huge and very tasty. Definitely filling and all the ingredients appeared to be quality. It looked well prepared and was presented very nicely.
Overall I had a great lunch and I would go back to try some of the other options on the menu. At the price of most of the menu items I would not be making this a regular stop though, more of a treat.

A great addition to the ever growing Rozelle food scene … If you’re not usually in to the «raw» stuff, don’t let it put you off … The food is excellent, flavourful and the menu has great variety.
I’ve had pasta, veggie burger, fritters, salads and a Mediterranean soup … all of which have been excellent.
Give it a go!
