Bronze Bodies was my go-to tanning salon between the ages of 17 – 21 for a night on the town, or if there was a any special occasion I would feel the need to bathe myself in all goldenness. I’m paranoid about skin cancer and all that, so fake tanning is really my only option unless I tan somewhere overseas where an o-zone layer is still existent… Having said that though, I also don’t constantly look like I drowned myself in a bag of Doritos — this is reserved for special occasions only — I still prefer a natural look overall. So when I want that extra radiance, I head to Bronze Bodies because their service is overall better than other tanning salons I’ve been to, they’re close by, and they have the Mystic Tan Booth which is private. My personal favourite is the Amber Sun tan which takes around 6 – 8 hours to process and has a much more natural look. The staff are also very friendly and helpful, and their tans aren’t OTT either, which is always good to see before you use their products.

Like Liz I’ve used the mystic tan booth at Bronze Bodies on the Parade because I like the privacy — there’s just something a little intimidating about wearing a paper g-string in front of a total stranger. The advantage of the private booth is that you miss out on the lines left by that crazy paper g-string because you can get all of your gear off. One big tip for you though is to remember that you don’t have a person there telling you to hold your breath. This is a mechanised booth so don’t forget to hold your breath while you’re being sprayed otherwise you could end up breathing in some horrible tanning lotion. And I’m sure you can deduct from that tip that I have done exactly that! Bronze Bodies also have tanning beds but I can’t stress enough how dangerous these things are. I’m really amazed at the people who use them but even more amazed that they’re allowed to operate. If you want a nice summer glow, please just go for the fake stuff — even if it means you have to wear a paper g-string in front of a stranger for 10 minutes!

Bronze Bodies is directly above Sooki on the Parade, and you have to find the sign and climb a few stairs to find it. When you get to the top you’ll discover a peaceful little haven for all the people wanted to pluck, colour and manipulate their bodies into the Western ideal. I’m not a big tanner myself and as far as hair removal goes I think that’s my business alone, but I have gone in to get a spray tan a few times. I use the ‘Mystic Tan Booth’ for privacies sake, where you get undressed in a private room, step in the booth, spray and turn, get dressed and you’re pretty much done. For thirty five bucks I get a nice all over tan and I find it a quick, painless experience(I bet you ladies can’t say the same thing for your waxing sessions, eh?). They have solariums and whatnot there but as far as I’m concerned if you’re using those things despite all the warnings you’re a bit of a spaz. The actual salon is a really relaxing, spacious, golden(not surprisingly) space, and the staff are lovely and discreet.
