I love this place. It’s my favourite local haunt with friends for lunch. Larger groups seem a little harder to juggle but ultimately I find the food is worth it if you really like Mexican, especially if the company is good. The food is wonderful, the staff are mostly efficient. The rare occasions something goes wrong they are at least very willing to correct it.

The first time I won’t there I can’t remember what I had but I remember walking away happy. The second time I went I was okay with my meal but it defiantly was not what I expected it was some sort of chilly prawns or something. The meal was alright but nothing great. The third time I went was for a birthday dinner for a friend and I’ll never do that again. We were so squished up it was so uncomfortable and we’re pushed up against a wall. The food took for ever to come out and when it did I was really not that over whelmed with it. My mother and partner felt the same about their meals. My partner won’t go back(doesn’t help he isn’t a large fan of Mexican but what he ate was a burger) The service was alright I think they actually got a meal or two wrong when they were brought out. I haven’t been back to them since. It was also very overwhelming because there was a hell of a lot if noise! Don’t suggest this for someone who isn’t a fan of noise

Perfect for what I wanted. Wasn’t expecting the world but I definitely got more than I expected. Chilli con carne was good and cheap(on Tuesdays) and the drinks were good too. Really fast service, in taking the ordering, the meal and cleaning up. Seemed very efficient(or lots of extra staff — one of the two(;) Love it. Will go back.

Even after countless years of visiting Cactus Jack’s since it first opened at the Hyperdome I would have to say my feelings about it are mixed. While the food is absolutely delicious(and to die for) the service at the best of times can be utterly appalling. Booking a table is definitely off the cards unless you have 8 or more other people willing to dine with you which can be a nightmare if you wish to have dinner at Cactus Jack’s on a Friday or Saturday night. I have been left waiting for over an hour with a girlfriend for a table on a Saturday night. The staff are generally unenthusiastic and inattentive at the best of times and really need an attitude check. Negatives aside, the restaurant has some curious and wonderful décor and is always clean. If you are stumped by what to choose from the menu I would personally recommend the Southern Fried Chicken Tenders and the Chocolate Nachos. Ah-mazing! Cactus Jack’s also have a «Chili Tuesday» which is great value for money as the servings are incredibly generous. If you’re uhm-ing and ah-ing about visiting, I would say it’s worth going and giving it a try if you’re a fan of Mexican food or you’re just looking to change up where you’re eating out.
