Pretty Ace. The first time I came here was in 2004 – 2005. Back then it was called Dally at Chimmey’s or something along these lines. It was next to a second hand CD /Music store. The baguettes and so forth usually meet the $ 10 price mark, or are just shy of it. Herb Focaccaia’s and the $ 1 Bread Italian rolls are a great idea for a packed lunch. The olive bread here is great. They also bake daily, Batards, baguettes, Sourdoughs, and an assortment of other Bread loaves. Made at Chimmys of course, ranging from $ 4.50 to $ 7ish. There’s a takeaway section too, either with sweet treats; some great finds the more savory lunching options. Overall this time, its’ usually the same faces, it’s an owner operator type arrangement. Staff are friendly, and very patient. I think it either did or has some allegiance with the similar shop in Richmond. They accommodate you most generously if you wish to have your dine in experience. There’s lots of inside seats, and you’ll find this spot busy on the weekends and mornings. The greatest thing about Chimmys is that it doesn’t change; you can expect all the same things, albeit with slight variations as last time.

I adore this place and always stop in to grab a gorgeous rare beef baguette and a sweet treat whenever I’m in the area. Their pecan tarts are to die for! I have tried loads of pecan pies and tarts in Australia and theirs are pretty amazing, sweet, full of pecans with a perfect crust. Staff are attentive, on the money fast and friendly. I love the fact that everything is made there, unlike some of the other bakeries around. If you’re after something fresh and delicious — especially if you love all things bread, briochey or danishy then these guys are for you!

Chimmy’s is a lovely little bakery cum café situated in South Melbourne. A pleasant change from the other generic sandwich bars in the area, Chimmy’s is the perfect spot for a coffee or light lunch.
