Cool vibe — nice little brunch spot and connected to a store which is pretty neat. I thought the brunch was serviceable but would like to see more generous portion sizes.

I came here after my morning run, walked passed this beautiful café on the corner and I could smell the coffee. A decent size café with 10 also seats inside and a few outside. There was a decent range of breakfasts to choose from. I opted for the mushrooms and asparagus. OMG, the mushrooms were absolutely amazing! They were so delicious, eggs were poached to perfection. A little bit of the goats cheese with kale and the asparagus just topped the breakfast off. The staff were very friendly too.

YUMYUMYUM Great coffee, great breakfast! We are the beet salad with chèvre and avo. Light but filling and great chilled atmosphere with friendly staff! Small seating area so perfect for a quiet Monday morning, can see it being hectic on weekends!

It wasn’t a coffee day for me today(I know, blasphemy!) but it was time for a healthy lunch and I snuck down to South Melbourne to join a friend and follow her recommendations. Having never heard of Giddiup(or indeed most places down this way as I don’t frequent it often) I was along for the ride and on entry immediately impressed by the delicious baguettes and paninis on display. I was very nearly tempted, but no, A SALAD! I had decreed earlier and so in keeping with my own promise a salad it was. I was nervous that the only salad option was the daily mixed bowl(3 salads served together, or a reduced offering of 1 or 2 salads if something didn’t appeal) written up on a long strip of brown paper hanging from the wall. I’m very picky. One salad was ruled out due to the presence of capers but I duly tried the other two despite having mixed feelings about lentils. My mixed bowl of quinoa broccoli-something and lentil-fig something came out much large than anticipated! I have to say I was full 1⁄3 of the way through, I think I struggled to eat about half of it. I was pleasantly surprised by the generosity of the figs, and the flavours of both salads were good and went together well also. On leaving I requested a container and was able to take the remainder home with me. All in all pleasantly surprised by the flavour and value for a lunch outing with no expectations, limited choice and a bit of a gamble. Thanks Giddiup!

Located in South Melbourne. This café is keeping up with the big guns around the area. I found this one to be a nicely laid out with indoor and outdoor seating. The coffee was real nice, and we went there for brunch and had a really nice meal. I had a salmon and egg dish, it was tasty and really fresh and nice. I would recommend going here for brunch. Really nice food. Good service and decent coffee. I see myself going back here. So next time you pop into South Melbourne Markets, maybe take the short 2 minute walk and enjoy yourself a nice meal or coffee and cake.

Very cute little café near the south Melbourne market. Good coffee but the place can be noisy so if you want good conversation I suggest taking a table outside.. The breakfast portions are quite generous and well priced. I was a little disappointed that they don’t have bagels on the weekends but I do like that they do jam and ricotta which was a childhood fave of mine. They have plenty of panini and sandwich options if you are looking for a quick bite. The staff are quite friendly however the music can make ordering challenging and misunderstandings occur. Overall I do like the venue and kudos for doing so much with such a little space.

Great coffee. Great owners and usually awesome staff but with a reasonably high turnover. Regularly changing menu keeps things fresh and the quality is always top notch. A great place for a weekend brunch.

Cute, charming little spot with simple but tasty offerings and cheery staff. A good spot to sneak off to without the 30+min wait that some of Giddiup’s neighbours have.

On the Corner of Francis and Coventry Streets, South Melbourne, Giddiup has been around for a while. This seems to be an unintentional trademark of mine; reviewing hot spots months after the fact. But I do get onto all the cool places eventually. To start, I ordered the double mac– Pretty ace. It’s a small little space at Giddy, so it hold seats a few. Hence, it’s good to snare a seat/table if you can. This can prove a challenge. Low key menu offerings, but lots of good things; breakfast, little snacks and small pastries. BLT Brioche bun– Crispy Bacon!!! Awesome, tiny, but good. Gruyère and mushroom toastie; it’s simply heaven. Pizza type dough, folded and grilled w/button mushrooms simple, clean and rich flavours. Indulgence! The focus here is on quality coffee; it’s good to see this as a burgeoning trademark of many new and emerging caffeine dealerships. Giddy is a small little space removed from Sth Melb Market, and the hustle and bustle of Chez Dre. Enter through Francis street. Wow! the day i come to review, a review is printed in the weekly review Blimming brilliant.

On your horse, lad! Get yourself here lickity-split and smash down some delicious Noisette grain toast piled high with mashed avo and goats fetta… or perhaps some not-too-sweet bircher topped with yoghurt, poached pears, and hazelnuts. Sure, you’ll be perching on a tiny seat, maybe even a milk crate, and sitting elbow to elbow with everyone else — but what this place lacks in size it makes up for in simple flavours, great value, and general good cheer. The service on my last visit was a bit sketchy, but with a bill coming in at $ 40 for three of us(everything on the breakfast menu is under $ 10!), I was happy to overlook it. Definitely met the requirements for a quick and easy feed before a serious bout of shopping at nearby South Melbourne market.

There is always a new coffee shop opening in South Melbourne, but I was truly excited to stumble, and literally I mean stumble across this one. As the door opened the text messages were flying that there was a new kid in town. Giddiup is hidden on the corner next to RG Madden in Coventry Street and the entrance is a side door is in the alley next to it or through RG Madden. Walking in they have a very concise menu, but it is truly delicious. The small bites on the left hand side of the fish bowl are to die for — starting with the Brioche BLT and various toasted pides — then to the right you have your choice of amazing sandwiches, with the Lamb Shoulder being one of my favourites, and the salads are clean and super healthy. An option that so many café’s overlook these days. Simple but interesting, no carb, lunch options. As I was chatting with the baristas and the peeps behind the counter, they advised that they were an extension to the awesome Anderson Street Café in Richmond. I should have recognised the amazing food selection. The Coffee is always perfect — the food is all awesome, on a hot summer day you have have their version of the slurpee — pear and lemon iced drink(YUM). But you have to get in early for lunch, as they do get cleaned out of sandwiches and salads pretty quick! This local, is now a daily favourite and a must visit if you are in South Melbourne.
