What a great job title — «What do you do?» «I’m a tree surgeon.» It sounds so important — a hint of medical authority combined with plenty of Tarzan-​like swinging from branches.
The reality is more hair-​raising than meticulous: dangling forty feet in the air in a harness, wielding a roaring chain saw. I hope they know what they’re doing.
AUTS came to us via Mosman Council — they’re one of two approved tree surgeons, which helps when you need work done in an area where the councils are notoriously reluctant to approve much pruning at all. With such limited ‘approved’ competition, I was expecting mediocre service and a council-​influenced delicate cut-​back effort, but I was pleasantly proven wrong. AUTS turned up as promised to quote and to complete the work. The prices were reasonable, and sharing the costs between neighbours was well-​managed. Both the pruning efforts and the clean-​up were comprehensive and efficient.
Have already needed them twice, and would definitely call them again. Especially when people warn me how Angophoras are liable to «shed their limbs unexpectedly» !!!
