Well hello there Dolly… Oh yes, I said it! We were in the mood for some Lebanese food and(like always) when we have cravings, my trusty Unilocal App saves the day. It led us to this fine takeaway store. This is true home cooked Lebanese food. There is nothing processed about it at all. Very strong bold flavours without being complicated. Sometimes a simple meal is where it is at! In fact, it is almost comforting. The lovely gentleman who looked after us for the evening was so polite and welcoming. He was happy to talk to us about the food and the ingredients. We were spoilt for choice, so many salads, pastries, dips, cakes. gahh! We found it hard to decide and it smelt so good. We finally decided to get a meat and mixed salad plate. If you are vego or vegan, there are choices here for you as well. Something for everyone! The green beans were so delicious. They were spiced with cinnamon, cloves and other sweeter spices. Then moving onto the spinach and rice, which was perfectly seasoned and wholesome. The Chicken & Veg bake mix was so creamy. The hummus was lovely and well seasoned, perfect to add with everything. If you stop here, please also try the Spinach and Feta Triangle Pasty. I wish I could eat one of those every day! You can also buy pasties and pastries to take home for later. The only downside is that some of the meals are microwaved. But, I can see that they make a lot of variety of foods. Maybe they make big batches every couple of days? Still tastes fresh though. I will definitely return, I love this food and it is quite well priced!
Really great food and a super nice interesting host. What more could you want? Well a glass of wine and some heating would have been good but its more of a takeaway really so I will be back for sure. Maybe to do takeaway or eat in if it’s above 3°. BTW I noticed a good looking high chair there. A bit of yelling from the kitchen for local colour.. My kind of place. I loved it.

Hello Dolly is a great Lebanese takeaway place on Payneham Road. Pretty Much known for their pita wraps, which are incredible, Hello dolly also does a range of other lebanese sweet and savory dishes. Some interesting items available are; the Kibbi, Meat or vegitarian balls, sort of like a croquette, but made with rice; Kafta, big kuicy balls of ground meat; Lebanese Omlette, Spinach Pie and the cabbage rolls. They also do shasliks and shishkebabs.

Firstly, rest assured my loyal Unilocalers, Barbra Streisand is not in da house! I have always avoided going in to Hello Dolly for precisely that reason, but much to my surprise I did not find Babs behind the counter. My change of heart came around as a result of a friend of mine telling me how freaking awesome a ‘wrap’ of his was then refusing to give me a taste(prick). So I had to check it out, and they are pretty darn good! It’s funny, usually I am not too big a fan of hummus, but it worked really well. I turned down the tabouli, but I am sure it is all good if you are into it. The little sweets looked really good, but I didn’t give them a burl this time. I will be sure to next week though! Also they cater, so could be a go if you are looking for something a little different for you next Brithday or Beerday(everyday is a possible Beerday!).

Hello Dolly does kebabs(not Yiros, they’re Greek) — really, really good kebabs. The lamb kebabs are great, but the stand out hands down reason for going here is the falafel wraps. Best. Falafel. Ever!!! They also have a good range of all those sticky desserts made with nuts and pastry and honey and stuff. Parking is a bit of a pain — everyone wants the same few spots in this little centre, so it pays to stick to the street, or the much larger carpark out back of the shops, but the service is quick, friendly, the prices are friendly too, and the food is great.
