Came in on a quite Monday morning — we had a coffee at Cibo first — liked the coffee here much more! I ordered the corn cakes with avocado salsa and my man ordered the eggs Benedict. Both were really good! Pricey for us Americans but really tasty

I have walked past and driven past this restaurant a number of times. It is generally very busy on the weekends and I have wanted to check it out for a while. I was in Stirling and desperate for a homely style meal for lunch, so I decided to trek to Tranquilo. The restaurant really does have a homely feel. Its décor is a little out-dated with cottage style furniture and wallpaper. But, somehow that makes you feel comfortable. There are quite a few tables available for diners and it seems that this is a popular destination for mums with babies and toddlers. After having a look at the menu I decided to order the tapas plate. I love tapas, especially at lunch. It is that kind of meal you can pick at over time and not have to rush through it. But, this tapas was just a little confused. I am not entirely sure what they are going for with the choices on the plate. I was served a schnitzel style chicken cut up, some chorizo style sausage, marinated button mushrooms, haloumi and olives. All of the items where ok, but I felt like I needed some pickled veggies or something to cut through the heaviness of the food. Maybe I just ordered the wrong item on the menu as the rest of the reviews here are quite positive. I will give them a go again and see if I can find their expertise.

It was a busy morning at TQ today! However our experience was perfect for a Saturday morning in the hills. Not rushed tp try and get our table free, just easy breezy. All the coffee and food came out in good time and the meals were well priced and really tasty. They are kid friendly(and breastfeeding friendly I’m told) and the indoor/outdoor mix is a good blend for the cool hills climate. The lunch options looked more restaurant prices, but I’m not going to judge until I’ve tried them… they might be worth it! A bit of a wait if you’re in a rush, but i suppose if you wanna run around like a chook with your head cut off, i cant imagine Hills life suiting you much anyway!

It’s a quiet Sunday here and this café has advised that it will take 15 minutes to make 3 coffees to go. In the end it took 23 minutes. While I’ve been waiting one patron has walked in, said that whatever they ordered has taken too long and they paid up & left. Saw another table eat the cake they ordered with coffee — the cake was completely gone when the coffee arrived. Seriously poor service. I don’t normally give negative reviews to places but this is beyond the joke. To make matters worse the coffee tastes of dishwater. Though in fairness, the latte was apparently okay but weak.

Elissa is right, this place is really delightful in winter, it just feels so cosy and warm inside, There is a certain romance about the hills when it is dreary as well. The food is good café style grub, breakfast is my favourite. The staff are efficient and friendly and the coffee is passable. I have to admit that this place is totally worth 4 stars but I really hate the name and the design of the signage. Can you believe it puts me off that much, what an aesthete and a terrible snob I am. Tranquilo is a little like the Cibo of Stirling and you’ll often see lycra glad groups of men and their bikes outside having a coffee break on weekend mornings.

They make really good vanilla milkshakes here. In fact they excel in the coffee and desert department, the cheesecakes are lovely. I believe the theme is modern Australian with a Mediterranean twist, which is interesting. I had a warm chicken salad type thing here once though and the chicken was really dry, which was disappointing because while it isn’t crazy expensive it isn’t altogether that cheap either. I like coming here in the winter, there is an open fire and the artwork lining the walls just gives the restaurant a really homely feel. In the summer there is an alfresco dining atmosphere with the windows folded back, there are tables available on the footpath too, but I’m not a big fan of this seating; too many passers by. The service is attentive and fast, you’ll never wonder where the bloody hell your meal is here and the staff are always friendly.
