Nice little find on a Sunday morning driving up from Melbourne. Coffee is good, pastries excellent, and the place is very popular on a nice sunny day like today.

What lactose intolerant chai drinker wouldn’t love a place that as a default uses Bonsoy to make their Chai lattes? And that’s not all, the all day breakfast options are expansive and they simultaneously serve from the lunch menu from 11am. This place is not a local for us but I’m sure we’ll be back when we are in the area visiting our family.

A lovely surprise. In terms of first impressions, The Spotted Owl reminded me of Wide Open Road in Brunswick. Ordered cauliflower fritters & a bacon and provolone toastie. Both came fairly quickly, and were delicious. The coffee was good. Our kids were well catered for, with high chairs and a reasonably priced kids menu.

Not to bad. But the menu is quite expensive and although it’s nice I don’t think you get your monies worth. The coffee was acceptable this time(it wasn’t the first time we visited) my partner loved the iced coffee. But not the $ 4.50 extra for a single slice of bacon. It’s nice inside but very generic modern café style mostly from IKEA. The wait times are alittle long for a café but within an acceptable time frame. To be honest I’m not going there again there is cafes in Sunbury with much better prices, service and the food is just as nice.

The coffee has been greatly improved since my first visit. It’s obvious that they have hired some decent baristas and selected some tasty beans. And while I have certainly enjoyed a meal or two here my experience with the food has otherwise been consistently bad. One one occasion we ordered asparagus bruschetta(without dairy) and we were presented with some toast with no asparagus whatsoever. On another occasion we were offered sourdough bread and served regular white bread. For the kind of price they are asking I would expect more. When ordering takeaway coffee you can expect quite a long wait — as they tend to serve in a random order. We watched multiple customers receive their coffees first when we ordered before them. Overall not a terrible place to eat(especially for Sunbury) just inconsistent.
