One of my favorites. The laksa is just define, the portion enough to keep u going all day. Staff is friendly and prices are reasonable. Worth a visit, vast choice of Chinese food.

One of my fav asian places in Sunnybank. Huge variety of foods on the menu(Malaysian, chinese, thai), good value for money. Very busy on the weekends but spacious enough not to wait long for a table. Seafood laksa is a must-try!

Not bad, we probably didn’t order the right things. I would go back and try again for sure, although from what I saw the kitchen looked a bit dirty but we were there at 10:30pm. The food was tasty and the servings big. Good value for money.

This is one of the small number of Malaysian food places in Brisbane, especially when you want dinner rather than lunch. Don’t be put off by the sometimes haphazard décor and cheap furniture. The Roti canal well worth coming whatever distance you have to travel to get here. Taro and red bean frappé great drink accompaniment. LICENSED. Open till midnight on Friday & Saturday, otherwise 11pm including Sunday’s so civilised meal times.

Pretty quick food preparations. Well priced however like most restaurants in market square, they only take cash. They have lots spots to sit and would be good for groups. Good food, not amazing but definitely good and I have been back quite a few times.

Went here for dinner tonight with a few people from work. We were quite a large group so it took us a while to be seated which was alright. We waited about half an hour. Once we were seated we had plenty of waiters milling around us but took about 20 minutes for us to get the attention of the waiter to take our order. Once we placed the order though it all moved swiftly from there. Food arrived quickly and it was quite delicious. Two of our dishes were only just warm though. I suggest the Malaysian laksa, it was delicious. The satay beef skewers were amazing. If you are after some asian comfort food at a cheap price then this is the place. Don’t expect much of the service though. Half the time the waiters showed up with a dish and not even they seemed to know what it was.

I have been here a few times and it has always been a delight. The staff is able to manage big groups quite well, which is always commendable when you decide to grub out with the entire(extended) family. I have had the deep fried calamari in mermite sauce. This dish is an excellent example of Malay and Aussie flavors. Flavors are well balanced and there isn’t quite anything I could directly compare it to. This makes this dish quite unique to Malaya Corner and I’m sure it has brought its fair share of return customers like myself. I have always been intrigued by Malaysian cuisine and finally got my chance to try Nasi Lemak. The dish comes with a variety of components including beef rendang, chicken curry, and dried fish just to name a few. If you are interested in a dish with a wide variety of flavors and textures, then Nasi Lemak will do you good. You’ll have sweet, spicy, crunchy and tender all in one plate. I wouldn’t know how authentic this dish really was, but it didn’t taste watered down or compromised to cater to a more western crowd. By the way parking always sucks in Sunnybank marketplace, so do yourself a favor and come during non-peak hours or take the bus.

Malaya Corner is definitely a head-to-head food battle with many Southeast Asian restaurants! The restaurant provides many options of cuisines and they are in giant portions! The restaurant has served noodles, rices, combo rice sets, roti, curries, desserts, drinks and many dishes you may find in Southeast Asia. The dishes that filled up my tummy were char kuy teow(a little spicy from its original taste), Hainan chicken rice(so far, the BEST in Brisbane that I have, it must be really GOOD, trust ME) and lastly Nasi Lemak(a disappointing shock on my face) Nasi Lemak, I would love a stronger aroma of the coconut rice and more authentic tastes of chicken curry and beef rendang. The portion, otherwise, is very heart-satisfying with many sides to try. Please request for more sambal sauce to have with the rice if you are a chilly-crazy craver like me. The table seating is simple and more like a food court style. The waiters and waitresses can be a little challenging to communicate with due to language barriers but they are always looking forward to assist. Minimum Efpos is $ 25! Definitely will try other dishes and of course, the Hainan Chicken Rice again!

I love trying out new restaurants that end up being a great experience and are recommended by friends! This place is busy all the time including late into the night so that’s always a good sign. We came on a Saturday evening around 7pm and we didn’t have to wait too long for a table. We each ordered different types of dishes: two soups dishes and two noodle based dishes. I had the Malaysian Laksa that comes with Hokkien and Vermicelli Noodles, Fish Cakes, Prawns, Calamari, Bean Sprouts, and Eggplant in a Curry Soup. It was SO delicious and filling that I couldn’t finish my bowl of soup. It is spicy which I really like as well but you can ask for more spicy if you’d like. Everyone was pleased with their meal and an awesome fact about Malaya Corner is that if you don’t finish your meal, you can have a to go box! I was so excited about this fact and will definitely be coming back again. The selection is enormous including vegetarian dishes. There is also complimentary self-serve tea and water at the counter for you.

Last night my fellow Sunnybank loving friend and I decided to try a new place in our favourite dining area. We had noticed Malaya Corner on previous visits, and the crowds the place drew coupled with the amazing aromas drifting out the door were enough to convince us to give it a try. This place is a lot bigger than some of the other restaurants in Sunnybank, although they have still packed the tables in a little close. Throughout the evening I often wondered what the guys sitting approximately 30 cm away, at the table to my left, thought of the intense deconstructing of our lives that took place. Pretty much everything on their menu appealed to me; I was continually flipping the two sided page over trying to decide what to have. There were a lot of dishes I’d never heard of, but which sounded delicious; I almost ordered one of those but decided to go for a safe option and be more adventurous next time. Our food arrived promptly and was very tasty. The quality of food and the atmosphere weren’t really anything unusual compared to the other restaurants I’ve been to in this area, but the service was. All the wait staff were very attentive, polite and clearly intent on doing a good job as they zoomed through the maze of tables. They have a no split bills policy(always a little annoying), so keep that in mind.

Praise to the food Gods, Malaya Corner was open on New Years Day — a public holiday! They do use a public holiday menu, which doesn’t feature the whole extensive menu, but all the favourites were there, so you can still have your fix of tasty Malaysian food even on those pesky public holidays. We split the Nasi Lemak, which is always a staple dish. Beef rending, chicken curry, boiled egg with Sambal Olek, peanuts and dried fish with onion, pickled vegetables and rice. The pickled vegetables are my favourite, especially the pickled cauliflower and pineapple. I love this dish because it’s like a tasting plate, and Malaya Corner does it very well. We also had the Malaya Coconut Chicken curry which was a very generous portion and so very tasty. I ordered the Fried Tofu(Malaysian style), which was ok, but I’m not a huge fan of silken tofu. I prefer the firm tofu. You must try the Lemon Iced tea(Hong Kong style) which is a huge serving of sweet, lemony black tea. Remember to muddle the lemon slices with the spoon before drinking to release all the flavour. We also had a Watermelon frappé, which was so cold and refreshing.

From Malaysian descent, I have got to admit that Malaya Corner was a bit of alright. First of all, it had my favourite green jelly drink, the chow kuey teow was a bit spicy and well wok’d, they even had a huge lemon iced tea(no, not the lipton one, the asian one). I have been bringing my family here for years, while it does get pretty busy, I have found the taste has been consistent. My favourite little place to go to for quick food, great service and huge lemon iced teas. Always very refreshing on a hot summer day. The restaurant has actually been re-built as a fire burnt the original down a few years ago, and the layout is quite inventive with outdoor tables and fans placed so they get some wind on those dry summer days as well. Smart. Thigns to try, the dry wonton noodle with bbq pork, the combination laksa, and the ‘wat dan ho’ wet fried noodles with egg sauce. Very yummy indeed. In the hustle and bustle of what they call the new chinatown in market square, this place offers a bit of relaxation while you eat. I’ve always gone in slightly non-peak times though so maybe get there a bit early so you can get a table on busy nights. Bonus… it’s open til 10pm every night of the week.

Malaya Corner is always popular with the students but there’s nothing stopping it being a family friendly, affordable and tasty dining venue for everyone. Their menu option is impressive and shows off the variety of flavours associated with Malaysian cuisine. There’s hot, sour, salty and sweet although if you do want something fresh, order an accompaniment of fresh Asian greens like Choi Sum. For a main, I like the Hainan Chicken for a rice option or try their tasty laksa or Char Keow Teow for a noodle dish. Parking can be problematic for Market Square at peak times. There is the option of public transport or try a side street behind Market Square.
