Why doesn’t Viet food in the valley taste like anything served here? Why do I have to drive so far to get delicious phở and rice? It definitely reminds me of my favorite Viet restaurants in my hometown in the US. When I can smell the broth before I step foot in the door, I know its gonna be good. No ambiance, minimal service, mish-​mosh of décor, and what sounds like employees yelling? Even more signs that the food is going to taste fantastic. The only thing I would say is that the broth is a tiny bit sweet for me, but that’s just personal preference. Come here to get quick, hot, filling meals. It’s all about the food, period. And yes, it is authentic and not some trendy warped fusion version of what Viet food is supposed to be.

I couldn’t believe the size of my «small» brisket. I think it would have been enough to feed 2 people.

I tend to judge asian places a little differently from other places:
Décor — don’t care, service — hope for the best but expect the worst.
But if the food isn’t up to scratch! There will be pain.
I was not disappointed. My only advice. Go with some friends to share dishes and don’t get too confused by the quarter head of cabbage you’re going to get with your spring rolls.

I come here with my house mates all the time and it has never disappointed! I highly recommend the Chicken Noodle Soup or the Braised Beef Brisket. This place has massive serving sizes at a super good price.

Since being introduced to Sunnybank by My partner, we have always enjoyed going to Market Square for authentic Asian cuisines. My partner and I ventured to Phở Vien Vuong over the weekend. The place was packed, however we were seated straight away. I ordered Bun Cha Gio tht nng, which consisted of Vermicelli with shredded pork skin, grilled pork and spring roll and some fresh vegetables (lettuce, carrot and shallots), my dish was delicious, not oily and full of fresh and authentic ingredients and was a generous serving size. Unfortunately it took about 30minutes to make it to the table, but was well worth the wait!

Good Vietnamese food. Excellent portion size, as others have mentioned. The two of us were stuffed, with plenty leftover for takeaway, and all for $ 21. There’s a decent menu with a good selection.
On a nice day you can sit on the covered patio. We were there on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn’t crowded at all.

So spoilt with phở options in Melbourne that when I venture to other towns it’s hard to find ones as good. We came in a large group, the waiter handled all our orders well. Everyone ate their meals. But it was just ok. I had bo Kho which consisted of only one piece of meat, some carrots and noodles. I needed a little more especially because I ordered the medium sized one. I’d say my grandparents will come back if they can’t be bothered to cook phở at home but this is probably as good as Sunnybank is going to get in the phở department

Not too far from the great phở places of Sydney. Flavours and appearance don’t make me wish for the phở of Flemington or Bankstown instead.
The drinks options are more limited.
The food amount is decent but not generous.
The prices are reasonable.
The place is a bit small. They would fill a much larger place.

Volume of food = Fantastic value. The first thing you’ll notice when you order anything from here is the sheer size of the bowls and plates. They are absolutely humongous! If you’re not terribly hungry, trust me, a small bowl of phở is more than enough. Everywhere else this «small» size would be a veritable medium while the medium would exceed a large.
I’ve tried both the spicy beef noodle soup (bun bo hue) as well as the broken rice (com tam) with grilled and shredded pork. The bun bo hue was packed full of different cuts of beef steeped in a mild soup. The noodles weren’t phở noodles but rather a more rounded gelatinous noodle that reminded me of a white spaghetti. Overall, it was filling and the soup was all right. However, there wasn’t anything particularly stunning about the meat nor the other vegetables that were treated almost as a garnish.
The broken rice consisted of the pork surrounded by an egg-​meat loaf, fried egg and several slices of cucumber and tomato. On the side, there was also a fish sauce and chili mixture that is drizzled on top. Again the food was ample albeit a bit heavy on the rice but nothing really stood out. The pork was a little dry and the meat loaf just didn’t seem to be seasoned.
What makes this place average, however, instead of 4-​star good is the service. The entrance is small so lining up means queuing up outside. The waiters tend to bark at you to ‘come in’ or just stare unhelpfully until you find a seat yourself. Getting your order taken is also quite a challenge. Overall, the staff just don’t really seem to mind how you get your food as long as it eventually arrives.
Bottom line? If you’re willing to bear the abuses, Phở Hien Vuong is a good deal for the price.

I have nothing but love for Phở Hien Vuong. It brings together so many things I love in a restaurant, Viet food, lightning fast service, a reflective price point, a refined and knowledgeable kitchen, pleasant staff and a raucous atmosphere. I’ll also throw in the neon sign out the front is just terrific.
Anyone familiar with Sunnybank dining knows that Market Square is one of the most brutal places you can establish a restaurant. The turnover is extraordinary. If you walk past a place that is quiet on a busy night there is only a ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ you’ll ever walk past that restaurant again. The turnover is high, the quality is unrelenting and the competition is fierce. If you don’t like a place don’t bother going back, there’s too much choice to waste time hoping for an incremental improvement.
Places you think will be fine are gone the next time you go and places that look perfectly ordinary will present some of the most extraordinary food you’ll likely get in Brisbane.
That is all by way of background explanation to the feat Phở Hien Vuong has achieved in just surviving. PHV joins the other petit dames of Taste Gallery, Little Hong Kong, Little Singapore, Hakataya Ramen and ‘that place Sam likes that he can’t remember the name of but it was the first time he tried bubble tea and dry soup and it’s still there’ in fending off countless competitors and churning out hundreds of thousands of consistently great dishes.
There’s no secret to what makes great phở. It’s the bones in the broth, the noodles, the herbs, the meat and the balance. What makes the difference between bad phở, good phở and great phở? No idea, but I know it when I taste it and this great phở. Balanced, rich but clean, generous serve of beef and that deep sits in the bottom of your stomach like a hot water bottle comfort that only the best phở achieves.
It comes in a huge range of varieties including all the greatest hits of raw beef, cooked beef and beef ball plus some ‘authentic but i’m fine not to’ additions including intestine and fresh blood.
Serves come in three sizes regular (huge), large (ridiculous) and extra large (bathtub). They range in price from about $ 10 — $ 13, so go nuts.
There are other great things on the menu, their bun salad is equally impressive, but more my mum’s thing than mine so you’re better asking her. They also do claypots and hotpots etc, but again, not really my thing. Plus there are all the good entrees including spring rolls, ricepaper rolls, won ton etc.
Prices are cheap. Like really, really cheap. Tea is free and they are just the nicest people. Cash only, so bear that in mind. There are ATMs in both Burlington and the 711.
This is phở the way it is meant to be enjoyed, as an egalitarian satisfying meal. I love this place, I love this place so much.
