Absolutely loved my experience here! Compared to the other reviews, it seems that maybe mine was a bit more relaxed, but I’ll just tell you as it was. The café closed at 8pm the day we went. Not really knowing what to expect, my friend and I showed up at 7:15pm, and though all their doors were locked, we knocked and someone let us in. They explained what they usually do($ 20 for a sealed cup of coffee, an hour with the cats, and a cookie at the end), but since we’d gotten there late and since they were holding some sort of private party, the café was closed, but here’s the deal: $ 10 for 45 minutes with the cats, skip the drink, and still get the cookie at the end. My initial reaction was that, wow, $ 20 is a lot of money, but $ 10 is doable. It was a little different than what I had experienced in Hong Kong prior to this experience, but it sounded fun regardless, so we quickly agreed. They led us into the room upstairs where they had a miniature BB-8 toy rolling around and all of their adult cats. The employees were extremely friendly with us and explained to us how most of the cats there had been with them since they had opened back in July’15. The majority of the cats were extremely friendly and very used to people by then, so it was cool to see them interact with BB-8 and all the while enjoying their wacky space– and Star-Wars-themed decorations. One of the managers popped in about halfway through our 45-minutes and offered to let us into the kitten room. It can only hold a small amount of people, so I’m pretty sure we were just there at a really good time. We went downstairs to a room in the back with 5 kittens. One of the employees explained to us that these guys get adopted quickly, so it’s difficult but necessary to not get too attached. They had 5 orphaned kittens at the time we were there, and they were just little balls of energy. I loved playing with them way too much and definitely took way too many snapchat videos with them. Eventually it was one to leave, but they were selling a bunch of souvenirs, which I definitely wanted to bring home to some of my cat-lover friends. One of the posters they’re currently selling is a smaller version of a mural they’ve got in their backyard. Very cool. The souvenirs themselves were slightly on the pricier side, but considering that they’re all original art work and that a lot of the proceeds go fund the immense amount of effort required to raise and keep all of these cats, I think it was worth it. All in all a lovely experience. I definitely wish the best for he owners and hope they can keep their Catmosphere as enjoyable as I felt it was.

My wife has been bugging me to take her here ever since we moved to Sydney and she learned of this place. So this weekend I bit the bullet and surprised her with a booking today at 1 pm. She was over the moon excited and the experience did not let down. When we arrived we greeted right away and our drink order was taken, just as quickly my wife was headed upstairs to as we were on the clock(60 min). When we entered the room it seemed there was only a few cats however the more we looked around, there were cats everywhere! 16 total in the room! As a dog person myself, this experience was actually extremely relaxing, and enjoyable. The staff in the room were very informative and had great stories about each cats. There was also a kitten room, but that is a separate booking. Next time we go we will be doing the kitten room for sure!

While living in Australia for 4 months and missing my cats back home I thought it’d be a nice treat to bring my boyfriend here who missed our cats as well. We did have a great time petting the cats and knowing that they were safe and had been carefully selected to be there but it wasn’t exactly how we envisioned. I felt like I was more so in a pet store/someone’s home than in a café. What I mean to say is that I was looking to sit with my coffee at café tables and just have cats stroll past me but this was more interactive and hard to balance the coffee and cat ratio. We also visited at night which I don’t really recommend. The cats were more or less lethargic, probably from being around people the entire day and frankly there were really only 3 out of 13ish cats that were up to hang out. I will also say that I wasn’t really impressed with the hard cookie and gift wrapping looking poster giveaways we received with our package deal. Overall, if you love cats, awesome, go, pet and play but if you’re looking to sip a coffee and enjoy a cats company that might be a little more of a struggle.

I dragged a cat-loving mate here ’cause I was starved for cat social. Twenty bucks gets you a hot beverage, a cat-shaped gingerbread cookie, and an hour with the cats. Weekends seem to be booked solid, so get on it if you’re keen. The space theme is pretty by-the-by; like my friend said: When you’re the only cat café in Sydney you already have your gimmick. Your experience will probably depend on the time of day that you’re there, what you’re into, and your expectations. We were there 6−7pm on a Monday and the cats were fed halfway through, so before that they were all pretty much fast asleep(but happy to be petted) in various spots around the room(on couches, end tables, dedicated cat-stand things) and after dinner they were all pretty lively. There was a young rangey ginger tom with wild eyes and personality on eleven, but my favourite was a little white critter with fur that looked and felt like it had gotten too hot in the crimper. The thing is, with that many cats in the room(I think the handler said there were 17), and the requisite number of litter boxes, it can get a bit gamey in there; I grew up on a farm and even so. I was impressed with the care they showed for the cats; one grey fluffy number threw up a furball twice during our visit, and after the second incident the handler put him(her?) in a cat carrier to remove him and give him a time out.(That cat really did not want to leave.) There’s also a quiet room downstairs where cats are chillin’ and you’re welcome to go in and interact with them. It’s low-key fun.

First time here at the cat café, wasn’t sure what to expect. The coffee was good, but we didn’t get the cookies as part of the $ 20 entry fee which was a bit of a let down as fairly expensive coffee! We booked for 6pm & got into the room about 6:10pm which cut down our hour session as we were asked to leave at 7pm. What was odd was people from the previous session had not left & were still in the room for at least half our our session, so there were 12 people &16 cats. The café does really good work, socialising the abandoned cats before they go to families for adoption, however I feel the cats were a bit overwhelmed by having so many people demanding their attention. It may need to be monitored better. I think it would work better with 8 people per session & would benefit the cats too. All the cats look well & have lots of toys & places to relax. The staff were friendly & welcoming & happy to explain how the café work & the procedures if you wanted to adopt. The cats stay there for 6 months before they can be adopted & checks are extensive.

Sydney is following the Japanese trend & now has its first cat café… And it’s space themed! As a massive cat lover this was super exciting for me. Catmosphere is located in a little two story brick building in Surry Hills. Downstairs you’ll find the café section, along with the ‘quiet’ cat room(this is where they keep the shy, new cats or ones that just need some time out from all the excitement). Upstairs you’ll find the main cat room, which has 16 cats! Oh the joy! For $ 20 you get 1 hour with the cats(or as they like to call them: Catstronauts), a coffee & a cat shaped cookie. Pretty cool if you ask me. Healthy & safety laws mean coffee is served in takeaway cups(to prevent you from getting fur in your drink?), but you can take it with you while you pat your feline friends. Make sure you book online before you go — to keep the cats happy & healthy only a certain number of people are allowed in each cat room at once. If you like sleepy cats go around midday while they’re napping, or if you want to have a play go early in the morning or later at night. The cats were cute & affectionate, the coffee was good, the staff were friendly, and overall I had a great time! My only criticism is the poorly done interior. They’ve gone for space-theme but it kind of looks like a kids science project. A little more ambience/vibe/etc would make it a cool café you would come to just for the coffee… Instead it’s a bit awkward.
