History

Established in 2003.

Grandma’s Founder Nicola Sault opened the doors of the Surry Hills store in the year 2003. In a matter of time, including long nights, Nicola and her partner Andrew, built a remarkable following of customers and vintage lovers. From the fashionistas, celebrities, and the style hunters who visit Grandma every week, to the fabulous customers in search for that perfect gem that fits in with their personality and style. Grandma’s gorgeous mix of local and international vintage apparel and accessories, guarantees that there is an item for everyone to take home to wear and call their own.

Grandma’s philosophy stems from the knowledge that people are now after a more unique and independent mix of fashion and flair than the mass-market offerings — something that creatively stands out in a way that represents your individuality and expression of style — something so special that others can’t find — something that only Grandma Takes A Trip delivers across the board

Meet the Business Owner

Nicola S.

Business Owner

Nicola is the creative force behind Grandma Takes A Trip — especially since she established it in the UK in 1997!

After completing a Degree in Textiles Production & History at Leeds University (where JRR Tolkein hung out), Nicola decided to take her love of all things that are well made and have stood the test of time to London and started a market stall on the famous Portabello Road Markets.

After a whirlwind couple of years, some modelling around the UK and Europe Nicola decided to take the leap and open a shop in recognition of all the fabulous vintage style that have inspired designers and artisans well, for as long as poepl have been searching for inspiration from the past really.

Opening in the famous New St near the Bull Ring in Birmingham she soon started a roaring trade collecting clothes from the estates and markets around Worcester, Gloucester and through the Oxfordshire and the Cotswalds, selling them during the week and going to London on the weekends.
