It’s all about the little things that make this place rock and a cut above the normal Indian restaurant. Hand made spicy pappadams, creamy silky smooth pineapple raitha, a lamb curry with the meat so tender, curried fish cooked to perfection and great spiced cocktails. Not to mention great service and hip décor makes this a place to visit again and again for special nights out. Recommended.

Subcontinental is from the same DNA as Longrain. Produced from the similar formula of Asian flavors and specialities given a stroke of fancy in a sultry bar-like environment. For me, Indian food generally equates to curry, tracksuit pants and documentary DVD. I wasn’t sure how ‘dressed up date night’ would suit. Subcontinental totally delivered on this agenda. Chai cocktails, great service and they make elegant morsels of Indian street snacks. Heavy curries become light and beautiful! Dish of the night was banana leaf baked fish with its coconut crust. Indian food just adopted a wider vocabulary.
