We have been going to Mikes Bistro since it occupied the Sylvania Hotel & thankfully opened at the Royal Hotel at Sutherland several years ago, the food quality & servings are outstanding. Keep a watch for the weekly specials but can highly recommend their steaks, pastas and stir fries. They have take out and if you cannot fit in the meals have doggie bags.

Went here for a belated birthday dinner on a Sunday night. Booked ahead but probably could’ve accommodated blow ins. Somewhere in between bistro and restaurant. Décor is dated. Felt like a wedding marquee. Food was standard pub grub. Schnitzel bigger than my head. For some strange reason fries were odd tasting. Not bad. Just unusual. Fast/reasonably priced. No real complaints. Could probably do with updating interiors if not the whole marquee.

Mikes is, and always has been, good value. You get a full rack of good, tender ribs for $ 30.(Used to be $ 26) The Portuguese chicken burger is good most days, but can be amazing if the right chef is manning the grill. Sadly, the eating area is mostly overcrowded and filled with children. We usually grab a seat outside to stay clear of the next gen, but it’s not uncommon for incompetent parents to let their children run free throughout. The food value here is the draw, but you’ll want to run somewhere else for your next drink.
