Expensive. Slow service. Messy tables. Disinterested staff. Bar 333 is one of those places that has a great venue, and which will always be busy. Sadly they seem intent on understaffing, especially on weeknights(like Tuesdays when they offer $ 10 jugs of beer, I’ll give you a star for that). What this then means is that you can end up waiting a long time, to get an expensive drink(if you aren’t partaking of the jugs) only to be back there in the queue soon after. My most recent experience had me dealing with a staff member that just didn’t want to be there. One of the patrons asked her if she could smile. He was being a bit of a creep, but he had a point. She was so slow. She didn’t want to be there. In the the time it took her to serve his drinks, another staff member had served literally 4 people. Also there was another staff member milling around doing nothing and she sent him on a break whilst the bar was 4 deep. Ridiculous.

We ate downstairs Service was good once we figured out we needed to eat at the bar. Middle of the day on the weekend left seating wide open.

Went upstairs for food today. Took forever to be seated. Whilst 4 staff gossiped in a corner, one waiter eventually came and served us. Served us sparkling water that was flat. Opened more bottles — all flat. Perhaps we pissed the waiter off with the water, but 40 mins later, enquired where our entrees were. Apparently our order ‘fell off the board’ in the kitchen and never got actioned. 10 mins later, entrée came. Told that mains another 15 mins. For thai food. At $ 40/dish prices. Given we’d now been there an hour and it was lunch, we left and got a sandwich next door. Hope they fix their service. I remember the food being ok.

After spending the day on a plane I was hungrily stalking the streets of Sydney looking for a good steak. And then I found myself in bar 333 … I settled on the place due to the time. It was getting late, my tummy was rumbling and I needed some food fast! So at the bar I got a couple pints for myself and a colleague. The place was pretty empty on a Sunday night but there was a lot of evidence of people occupying each table and chair before us. So they lose stars in cleanliness … After getting some cutlery and napkins at the self serve station sporting sauces, mustards and evidence of other people’s carelessness I negotiated through the debris and dusted off the cleanest looking table. I sat, I waited and the steak came. AND it was ok, slightly overdone but tender and juicy once drowned in the pepper sauce I ordered… Moments after getting stuck into the steak the call for last drinks was sung out by some wait staff parading around the bar… I don’t think they stay open late on Sundays. So bar 333. You were a mess but you fed me and it tasted ok. You weren’t the best but I have experienced far worse.

My boyfriend and I were recently looking for an economical choice for dinner last night, and we stumbled across this great find! They have specials everyday of the week(a real plus in this expensive city), and we happened upon it when it was $ 10 for any mains! We promptly ordered our dinner(chicken schniztel and a wagyu burger) and realized we were missing our favorite tv show(My Kitchen Rules)! They were happy to box it up for us, so we could get home in time for the adventures in cooking! Now that’s customer service! My chicken was delish with the mushroom gravy. My boyfriend’s burger was a bit well done for his taste. We plan on coming back to try the salmon and other dishes!

A George St stalwart of some years, Bar 333 is much like Andre The Giant in that it’s a victim of it’s own size. Note that for the purpose of this analogy I’m assuming that Andre’s massively distended frame was a key contributor to his early demise. Please forgive if this was not in fact the case. It’s a giant space, both the sport bar downstairs and the sit down/couchy/restaurant area upstairs. Bar 333 is a perfectly serviceable place, but for all it’s convenience(read: proximity to Wynyard) I think I’d mainly be coming here for A) a bet, B) an interim drink before meeting friends /after-work bevvy before going home to watch, I don’t know, Suddenly Susan or something, or C) a cheap lunchtime meal if I worked around the corner. As I said, perfectly serviceable, just lacks a real personality of it’s own due to its size. Has that sort of everyman, «jack of all trades, master of none» RSL-y feel. Looks like it would get nice and loose on a Friday night.

Perhaps having drinks on a Tuesday at Bar 333 didn’t allow the places’ true colors to shine … But then again, I was the only person there who wasn’t in a suit, I came for one drink but instead had five, young interns were making out on a back couch, a girl tripped and fell in her heels, the lights were red, and the background music was trashy and catchy. Yep, I think my experience was definitely the comprehensive cool down from the weekend before. But I definitely get the general gist. If you’re adorned in a suit or pencil skirt and looking for a place to grab a quick drink after work drink while you canoodle a co-worker, then this is your jive. There’s no real«life» to the place; it’s simply a place to get drinks. And lots of them. The wine and beer are cheap for this area, around $ 6, and judging by the specials board, it seems that there are some cheap food specials as well. We didn’t have food here, but I’ve heard that the bites are a step up from standard and perfect after a couple of ciders. The night was chilly so we sat inside, but the outside seating would be a definite plus during summertime. I don’t think this will be my go-to weekend joint, but I definitely wouldn’t mind it for an after work cider.

Tried to have lunch there today. They brought out something different that what we ordered. We politely informed them of such. They then tried to deliver the same meal to us three more times, the excuse being it was on the docket despite it not being what we ordered. Manager came out he, too, could not grasp the concept that the person who took our order had punched in something different than what we asked for. Thankfully they gave us our money back and we had a nice lunch at the Royal George instead. I just can’t believe that they would rather start an argument with a customer than take the dish back to the kitchen and bring out the right food.

It’s been around for ages and its lustre has worn off a bit for me, but Bar 333 continues to provide a relaxed oasis from the frantic city environment. The name is sprawled all over the entry so you can’t miss it. This stylish venue offers three areas enclosed by floor-to-ceiling windows through which you can observe the rush of the city: a bar with big screens for the sport fans, a pool room for the boys and a cocktail lounge for after work drinks with the girls, and the Infusion Restaurant on the bottom floor, which serves up modern, affordable Asian cuisine and some traditional pub-style favourites.

Bar 333 at 333 Pitt Street in the city is a pretty nice bar with a bit of something for everyone. There’s a few tables and cheers outside which is a pretty nice place to have a drink or something to eat and watch the hordes of people flow by. Inside on the street level area there are a few areas to grab a drink whether it be on the high tables, low chairs, lounges, around the pool table or in the TAB area even! Upstairs is a cocktail bar too but that doesn’t really kick in to later in the night. The bistro is pretty good and depending on what night you go, you’ll find a different daily special. Just your basic stuff like schnitzel, pizza, steaks and burgers but there’s also nightly specials on the cocktails and champagne, again depending on what night you head in. The only thing I recommend is that if you need to go to the bathroom don’t leave it to the last minute as the journey down about what seems like 50 spirally stairs can seem like an eternity!

Bar 333 is pretty average. It’s definitely not a destination, nor is it an absolute dive. It is best to start the night out at Bar 333, with tables and chairs available to those who wish to people watch or have a lazy drink out in the summer breeze. The dinner menu here is great. Sample the food and welcome lots of variety! Order a few cocktails on the side and you won’t want to leave! Conveniently close to Wynyard station and well within the central business district, it’s a great place for Friday drinks whether its with friends or colleagues. You can’t miss the red decoration and the Bar 333 signage everywhere!

I used to go here so much when I worked in the city, it was the after party to the pub called PJ O’Brians; I have a love hate relationship with this place. It’s a very convenient, and cheap sports bar with has a great little dance floor and comfy chairs and couches up stairs, which is great for chilling out, or having the odd dance or three. Unfortunately, there’s no trendy vibe here, and it feel that people only go here to get wasted, not classy. It attracts the wrong type of people, and can get a bit rowdy. They serve food, besides from being very cheap, it tastes very cheap, but at that time of night when all you want is a bowl of wedges, it’s a great cheap eat after a few ridiculously alcoholic drinks. Overall it’s a hit and miss type of place — I wouldn’t recommend going here completely sober, maybe it’s a number 2 or 3 on a pub crawl type place.

Sports Bar! Sports Bar! I watched some World Cup games here and found it much more pleasant than a typical sports bar. I don’t see why bars aimed at having people spend a long time sitting and watching TV never seem to be designed with any thought to the ambience. There are plenty of big screens on different levels to enjoy your sport of choice, and although I’m not generally a «nightclubby» kind of chick I even went upstairs after the game for a few shots of tequila and to my shame, boogied to a bit of Black-eyed Peas. Definitely one of the better bars in an area of the city I usually loathe.

An awesome establishment for those after work drinks, and also to celebrate the Melbourne Cup in style. So convenient on such an occasion: they have a TAB facility to cash in your winnings on Melbourne Cup day if you are so fortunate in doing so. Any and all of their cocktails are a real hit. It is great to sit outside and have a few drinks with people; however(I know this sounds stupid) however; just enjoy one of their cocktails(for the life of me I cannot remember what cocktails they have available) any of them(or most of them) — all of the cocktails I have tried at this establishment are so refreshing and full of flavour. Just try any cocktail. Treat the menu like a dartboard and you should not be disappointed. Upstairs is terrific to sip a cocktail and let the night go by; alone or with others. A great locale situated right near Wynyard station. Great, upbeat and ambient environment, with excellent customer service. One decent bar in the Wynyard area on George Street. The background music they generally play on a Thursday night makes the whole experience worth it in tandem with that refreshing cocktail.

For whatever reason, when I suggest to friends that we go to bar 333 for drinks on a Saturday night, I am immediately shut down, snide glares directed at me, at my less than socially acceptable suggestion. But here’s why I suggest it: Comfortable seating. There are plenty of comfortable chairs scattered around the upstairs area, soft, God knows what colour, lounges.(It’s always so dark in there it’s impossible to tell.) So many venues you’ll go to and never be able to find a seat, you may even spend half your night with one eye roaming the bar for a party about to leave, then comes the beating the other roaming eyes to it fight. Not necessary here, there is an abundance of seating. Dancing! The music is quiet enough for a conversation, but loud enough to dance to, anywhere you are. The dance floor is one space, you can dance there, it’s even got the word ‘Dance’ in it’s name, but you don’t have to. You can dance near the seats, you can dance on the balcony. People do. Stand in line, pop out a move. It’s okay, we’re at Bar 333. Drinks. While not the cheapest drink station going about, nor is it the most expensive. Drinks in the city are costly, and that’s something you get used to, but six dollars for a glass of the house white is not too shabby. It’s a little shabby, but not too. So, while maybe not the most glamourous of clubs in the city, there is enjoyment to be had there, and there are stories to be told the day after, but this is not the place for said stories. And when you go out, what are you looking for? You’re looking for fun. So, my advice would be, the next time you’re down Martin Place way on a saturday night, head into Bar 333 and go and have some of that fun. The bar also offers dining and is a popular spot for the working crowd during the week.

Suited up and ready for after work drinks on a Friday night? Triple three is where you’ll fit in. When you first walk upstairs, you’ll be lucky to see much of anything the place is so dark. Each corner is like a private lounge area so it’s perfect for big groups or your office posse. Be forewarned that every type of suit from generic to Canali, pinstripe to odd ties, has probably headed up this way already. For the ladies, the cocktail bar is separate for the main bar and is usually less crowded — so sneak in this way if you want something fruity or chocolatey to start your weekend off. The cocktail menu isn’t extravagant, but the bar staff are well capable of creating their own variations on the classics. Look out for the Lychee cocktail which is refreshing and doesn’t knock you out with its high alcohol percentage. For a bar in Martin Place expect to pay $ 16.50 for your cocktail, but of course beers, wines and ciders are available for the $ 6.50 standard. Downstairs Infusion restaurant caters for the munchies and provides decent Asian cuisine. As such, there is more variety than your standard bar food(you know the terrible mandatory sausage sizzles you see nowadays). They offer a fair variety of seafood and a few side dishes to nibble in-between drinks.
