Great vibe, and good food. Staff was friendly by I believe the hype was a little overrated. My best comparison as an American in Sydney is that Burger Project is a glorified Burgerfi.

Burger Project is the true definition of comfort food. I have tried the Cheese burger and I found the grass-fed beef pattie was juicy and tasty. I also had the Sichuan pepper fries which I found were a little bit on the saltier side with the seasoning but some might like the unique flavour, nonetheless the potato fries were well cooked. Recommend giving this burger joint a go.

Hmm yeah i mean you want a burger and youre around the area. Based on price and quality am i gonna eat here? Meh. I mean what you get is some high quality aussie meats and burgers but do you really want to pay 20 bucks for a full meal? I mean is it shackshake? Marys burgers imho are a lot tastier with the chippies.

Casual burger joint that absolutely nails it. The burgers are American to the fullest. Probably one of the best burgers I’ve had in sydney. Don’t hesitate to try it out.

Chocolate milkshake was amazing. Totally worth the calories. Also ate the bacon burger– omg, the meat so juicy and cooked to perfection. 100% would recommend to my friends.

Very tasty burgers that are well worth the money. Would have expected them to be much more expensive than they were. Nice work Neil Perry!

I feel I have to update my previous review where I said the burgers were just okay– not sure if the chefs have gotten into their groove or they changed the recipe or something but these burgers are now seriously phenomenal — well worth the money. I feel like I’m back in America when I bite into the cheesy deliciousness with meat snd slightly sweet bun. Chips are still on fleek(did I really just use that in a sentence?) They’ve recently opened one across the road from me at work too which is not a good thing(or is it?)

It’s so difficult being a veggie when your friend from India is visiting(where they’ve recently completely banned beef consumption) and is dying for a burger. After bringing majority of our guests to Mary’s — Neil Perrys dine in option was up next on the beef-to-do. I can say that my Indian traveling companion was very pleased with the Aussie choice, though I think its burger blasphemy that beetroot would ever be put on the sandwich king. Sometimes restaurants will offer a «veggie» option — but usually I receive a mushed veggie patty ‘of sorts’ without visual appeal and less than appetising. The Burger Project however, delivered a crispy and chunky mushroom patty that oozed with flavour and juice. The bun was not too thick(another gripe of mine) and I enjoyed the accoutrement with special sauce… though isn’t every«special» sauce just essentially 1,000 island? I digress. Would have loved a dill pickle chip on this burger, opposed to the sweet but it didn’t put me off. CHIPS! — Thank you burger project for having someone of the most interesting tasting chips i’ve had. I believe we ordered Szechuan which both left my mouth slightly numb and completely addicted. and lastly, alcohol. A nice glass of their shiraz topped the tasty treat off. Would visit again 100% if they offered an additional veggie option ;)

The Burger Project has Neil Perry’s name to it, but a casual burger joint. It is upstairs of World Square right next to Din Thai Fung in World Square. There are about 6 burger choices, chips, shakes, sundaes and alcoholic beverages. I ordered the jalepeno burger. I can usually take a bit of spice, but this had so much jalepenos on it(like a relish) it nearly burned my tongue off. The meat was delicious, very good quality meat, with cheese, tomato and fresh pickles and a ‘special sauce’, not too dissimilar to the McDonalds sauce. My hubby had the ‘bacon project’, heaps of meat, bacon and sauce and this one was delicious! The vanilla thickshake was proper vanilla, beans evident in the mixture and very nice. The fries could be regular, chipotle salt or Seszchuan salt or a sour cream dip. Not too pricy at all; total $ 22 each for a burger and chips and a drink. The atmosphere was pretty dead(but it was Monday night). No table Service, just a buzzer, but it was fast service and the man on the counter was super friendly and helpful. I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to go again, as there’s so many burger joints to try, but we all enjoyed our visit.

Pretty good burgers. Parties were well seasoned and cooked to perfection. Fries were of a reasonable portion and the price is in line with what you’ll get in the Sydney metro area. Downside — the sauce was runny and the burger bun was a bit too soft for my liking. It absorbed all the runny sauce and cheese, which made the bun soggy towards the end. I don’t like hard buns, like those used at Grill’d but something with more body/hold would be better.

Simple, clean(don’t misunderstand this as healthy) burgers. There’s a stack of reviews already around for this; most of the 4 – 5 star ones I’d agree with, it’s definitely worth checking out if you’ll be around the area. Only point — the beers/cider selection is lacking. I understand they probably don’t want it to turn into a place where people get their drink on… but a few reasonable local brews would go a long way.

This place has been bookmarked for so long in my Unilocal and I’m so happy I finally got to try this place out! After reading so many great reviews, I was not disappointed. My boyfriend and I went here on a Tuesday night. It wasn’t busy at all. The service was friendly and quick. I think we only waited around 5 – 10 minutes for our food! This burger was everything I wanted and more. I wouldn’t say this is a greasy-I-hate-myself-now-for-eating-this burger, but it’s not a fancy, gourmet burger either. If I had to describe it it’s like a 5 star McDonalds burger, the rolls royce of McDonalds. We both ordered the double and it was so good. The meat was cooked well, just a hint of pink and that orange cheese… *drool*. The special sauce was something else. We both got the fries and lemonades. I loved the fries because I generally love fried-to-oblivion food, but my boyfriend did not. He prefers thick cut chips. I also ordered the chocolate shake to try and I did not like it. It’s incredibly rich and probably a bit too much with the burger and fries(for me, anyway) so next time I think I will try a vanilla shake. Every time I look at the photo I took of my food I want to eat it again, immediately!

So in that i work so closely with Qantas and fly them frequently, Neil Perry(of both Rockpool Bar & Grill and television fame) is a name that’s familiar to me given it’s on more or less every single Qantas in flight menu. That being the case, I was keen to try out his literal Burger Project, and I’m certainly glad I did. As a disclaimer, I’ve spent the last three years living in the Burger Mecca that is Dallas, Texas, so I’m picky when it comes to burgers, but Neil’s products here are at least in the same general league as some of the up and coming popular chains back in the states(Larkburger, The Counter, etc.). Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? If I didn’t know better I’d swear that Neil took his inspiration for the décor at Burger Project from global burger powerhouse Shake Shack(which, in full disclosure, is my favorite chain burger — period). From the sort of green theme to the positioning of the menu and folks behind the counter I felt transported back stateside, but the system was as efficient as it was friendly, so well done to Mr. Perry there. Abundant and well lit seating for all party types topped everything off nicely, and I was surprised at how quickly my Cheeseburger arrived. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? $ 9.90AUD($ 7.00USD) got me a decent sized Cheeseburger, and as you can probably even tell by the picture below these were some fresh ingredients and a great ratio of patty to bun to toppings. More specialty burgers obviously bumped the prices a bit up to I believe $ 13.00+, but either way these were affordable prices. Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? This was a good burger make no mistake. The patty had flavor of its own and came together nicely with the fresh lettuce, the cheese, and what were excellent onions on a fluffy and well sized buns. As others have stated, the whole thing was a bit salty, but I’m of the strong opinion that that’s what makes Shake Shack burgers so great. The one other notable downside here was the«special» sauce, which I honestly just wasn’t keen on. I get it that once In n’ Out came in with their thousand islands that every burger joint feels the need to dish up their own special topping, but it tasted a bit like an odd blend of ketchup and sweet and sour sauce. I just wasn’t a fan. Either way, this was a very good and fresh burger, and I wouldn’t be surprised if I came back here in the next few days to sample another offering. Single Star Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? Honestly? Yes, although it’s close given that Grill’d, which is one of my favorite Aussie chains period is literally downstairs in this case. I’ll pay Grill’d a visit and see if I feel the same way afterwards. For now though, Star Granted.

Burgers are definitely in the top 5 of my favourite foods and while I’ve had some great burgers, nothing I’ve had so far compares to Burger Project. I found out afterwards that it was masterminded by Neil Perry, who is famous for his Rockpool Bar & Grill burger. I only spent 4 short days in Sydney and had so many great dining experiences but this is probably the stand out. I loved the burgers so much that I went for dinner one night and came back for an early lunch the next day… and ordered the same burger twice! The first time I didn’t know what to order(happens alot) but then my eyes drifted towards ‘The Bacon Project’. Grass fed beef, LOADS of bacon: D, cheese, pickles and secret sauce. I was hoping it would be indulgent and it definitely delivered on that front. Loads of bacon, and I really mean it; they piled on so much bacon that it was almost the dominant flavour. I don’t know who supplies their bacon, but for a burger joint it absolutely exceeded expectations. So smoky, not too salty which was good because there was so much of it. It was also 100% bacon strips or streaky bacon, rather than back bacon, the one that that gets really tough when cooked. The bacon was really that good, but the rest of the burger was amazing too. The beef is another standout. Apparently it’s a 36 month chuck and brisket blend. At first I was really confused, because I thought the meat was aged for 36 months… which would probably be gross and inedible but it’s actually the cow that’s 36 months old. It’s normally cooked to medium but my came out a bit under that, pretty much a medium rare. I decided to keep it, as I’ve never had a medium rare burger. I’m glad I did because it was absolute heaven. There was no mushiness at all which was surprising but at the same time there was a nice char on the exterior. In terms of flavour, the beef stood up to the bacon in that it wasn’t overwhelmed. The rest of the burger was top notch. The bun of course was a marshmallowy soft brioche that didn’t turn to mush despite the amount of bacon grease and juices. The pickles are house made and there was a decent amount of it, but I would have preferred a bit more due to the richness of the whole thing. I can’t really remember the secret sauce because of the cheese and bacon but it was there. One minor con I found was that it came with a loose paper wrapping which quickly got soaked so it was messy right from the get go. I’m also a bit fussy sometimes and prefer a plate and knife as I prefer eating my burger by halves. The second time we ordered some chicken wings to try, despite not ordering the first time. because it was $ 3.90 for 1 wing… and 3 for $ 9.90. But I’m happy to say it’s well worth the money because it comes with the whole wing so it’s the drum+ the flat and they include the wingtip on. The one with the Sichuan Peppercorn was an absolute winner! It’s a kinda fruity pepper, hard for me to describe from memory but my god, it’s such a unique and creative take on the humble chicken wing! The hot sauce wing is more standard fare, hot sauce with butter lathered of the wing. Good, but not quite as special.
I’m so jealous of Sydney residents, they have 2 Burger Projects! The quality of the ingredients are next level but they keep their prices fair, with burgers ranging from $ 8.90– $ 13.90. The wings are a bit pricey but so worth it. They also do Ice-cream desserts which I didn’t try(strawberry and blueberry pie sounds good). It was jam packed with diners both times I went and they really deserve the success, as it’s the best burger I’ve had. Sorry for the rant once again, but it’s as if they put crack in the food. 6⁄5 if I could give that!

My choice for the best beef burger in Sydders. Why? For starters, the beef is a courser grind, it feels less tampered with, and not to mention is a pleasure to eat! Tastes like pure quality beef; no filler or flours. They also grill the patties so that they’re still pink in the middle. Why was I eating burgers well-done before? It’s an indulge-yourself burger, but it wont leave you feeling sickly after(unless you get the double perhaps). I also love Burger Project for their Aussie burger(beetroot fan), the bunless alternative(it could almost be healthy!) and the chilli salt on the chips is oh so tasty.

I went here with a coworker for lunch on a Friday. There was a line, but it moved pretty quickly. A big chunk of that was people getting takeaway, so we were able to grab a table inside. I ordered the cheeseburger, wings with hot sauce, and chips with chipotle chili salt. First off — the chips are really yummy, I enjoyed the chipotle chilli seasoning very much. The wings, at $ 3.90 apiece, are a bit pricey, but they’re larger, more substantial wings. They would’ve been perfect, except the fact that there was barely any sauce on them. Seriously, there was perhaps 1⁄8 teaspoon of sauce drizzled on them, and part of it was on the container, so I had to wipe down the wing on the container just to get as much sauce as I possibly could. The burger… hmm. There was a lot of hype around it… to be honest, it wasn’t as good as I was expecting. It wasn’t bad per se, and admittedly this tastes like a really fresh burger, but it was a tad bit bland. I think it’s good if you’re expecting a fresh-tasting burger. Burger — 2.5 stars, possibly 3 stars Wings — 3 stars(would be a 5 if they were generous with the sauce) Fries — 4 stars 4 stars for super speedy service and ample seating, though subtract a star because it’s relatively pricy. I wouldn’t mind coming back here again if someone invited me to go, but it’s not something I’d crave for.

Delicious burgers in an industrial chic looking space. The meat is top quality, the cheese divine, the bun perfect. Their fries are not too thin and not too thick. Looking into the kitchen you can tell that this place is a well oiled machine — staff move fast to create the perfect burger but don’t appear rushed. This project is a standout success!

The burgers are definitely better at burger project! I got the fried chicken burger and the chipotle chilli fries and it was delicious — I reckon it was their secret sauce that made it so yummy. They have an open kitchen so you can see your burger being prepared fresh. It feel like a fancy fast food restaurant. Not sure about how late they open, but they’ll make a great place to get food after or mid way through a night of partying in the city.

Bring back the kimchi burger! *waves placard* It was the crown jewel on the menu, the best thing since sliced cabbage. I mean, if you twisted my arm I’d admit that the Double Burger is also the cat’s meow, but man, that kimchi burger got me right where my heart should be. Last time I went I walked out and saw a guy getting one of those burger bowls with three patties inside a bowl of lettuce leaves. Kinda defeats the purpose but hey, maybe he’s gluten free or some bread slept with his girlfriend or something.

Ok this place has been reviewed to death but here is my spin. You can buy a bigger burger & you can buy a burger with fancier ingredients but Burger Project keeps it simple but does it really well using the best ingredients & getting the ratios of meat, cheese, bread, condiments, salad etc spot on. If you like a burger so big & greasy that you hate yourself after this isn’t the place for you or if you want to go on a bizarre peanut butter & kale flavour experiment you’re going to leave disappointed but if you secretly admire the simplicity of McDonalds but made with care & quality so you can really taste the ingredients & experience the textures then you’re in your happy place here.

I don’t understand the hater reviews recently posted — people who write stuff like that lose all food credibility. Burger Project is hands down one of the best, if not THE best, burger joints in Sydney. It has the beef patty by far. You just can’t beat that medium-cooked grass fed beef! Bun is soft but not too greasy. House make pickles are AWESOME. The price is considerably cheaper than most burger places these days and the size is reasonable. If it’s not big enough for you then stop complaining; order a double patty and fries. That’s why they’re on the menu. My go-to is the cheese burger but I have also tried the portobello mushroom burger and must say that although nothing can replace my love for beef, it is a GREAT alternative for vegetarians. Well done on that. Another thing I love about the burger is that not only is it delicious, but you don’t feel super gross afterward. It hits the spot and you feel great. I really like the ambiance as well. Yes, it’s casual and may look like a fast food joint as people have mentioned, but it’s kept very clean and it has character. No cons whatsoever. LOVETHISPLACE!!!

Neil Perry hits it out of the park. These are my favorite burgers in Sydney(sorry Mary’s, I still love you too). I especially love the Chili Cheese burger, with that extra bit of «zing.» I have come to understand that many Australians don’t share the same tastes when it come to burgers, and that’s okay, but this is one place that I believe can satisfy a variety of tastes. They do offer a standard Aussie style burger for those that need beetroot((gag)) on their burgers too. I also love their thickshakes and have a hard time coming here and not getting one of those. They also offer thin milkshakes if that’s your preference. Good chips too. Plus, they keep this place very clean. Five stars!
