Good food. Really great price, based on the menu and environment, I thought it was going to be really expensive but it’s quite reasonable. Good service as well.

Absolutely love this place! Have been here many time, never anything but extremely impressed and satisfied. Small, out of the way, and true gem. Come hungry so you can enjoy multiple courses, and don’t miss dessert. And the come back to try everything else on the menu that you wanted but couldn’t fit in the first time around. Great service, beautiful presentations, cosy atmosphere, and flavors to rave about. If you come to Sydney, you should eat seafood; and if you want the best seafood in Sydney, you should eat at Fish At The Rocks!

Excellent grilled calamari. Totally worth the visit. You do need to make a reservation. We went twice during our stay. Very casual. Bring your own wine. Five dollar cork fee per person. They do serve wine though. I had tempura fried king prawns. Also had excellent king fish. The meals are big and they do allow splitting meals. They will spilt it for you. The only issue we had was with the whole snapper because the bones were hard to deal with.

Excellent food and presentation. We had an assortment of fish dishes and they were outstanding. Service is also good. Australian wine list also good.

My coworker and I went to the Lord Nelson pub and a guy next to us recommended this place. Good food and great service. We had a sampler with calamari, crab cake, mussels, and prawns. They were outstanding. Fresh fish and friendly staff.

Very good fish and sides, quite delicious and not overdone. Service was okay, but would be better if the servers were more attentive.

The fish was just fine, about what one would expect for a restaurant carrying this name, but nothing more made this place worthy of return. Service was poor, and the entire serving staff seemed tense and driven. .. it clearly reflected the atmosphere of the restaurant and upon the enjoyment of our dining experience. For the high price, one would expect better. .. much better, actually. It’s anyone’s guess where the source of the tension originated, but the maitre d’ gave the impression of an intolerant demanding perfectionist. All very odd for Australians, based upon our month of travel here.

Oysters, baramundi fish, and beer. Remember this fish as one of the best i have had or maybe it was the day 2 in Sydney on vacation that made me think like that :)

Very good restaurant. Approved by Italians. Natural oysters are great, fish in general is good, salmon is boring. Nice selection of wines. Desserts(Affogato and Profiteroles) are good. Service really professional. Consigliato!

A definite must if you love seafood! I was looking for a place to celebrate New Years Eve and on the same day, two different people suggested Fish on the Rocks to me. So my concierge called and got me in and was I glad he made that call! First of all, I had a quaint table right in the front windows. The people watching on this night(well it was New Years Eve!) was spectacular and there was a constant parade of people going by to the fireworks to keep me entertained all night. There was a set menu on this night, so they had several of their favorite items on the menu. I started with the«bug» ravioli(yes, I had to get a complete run down of what exactly went into it) and it was lovely served with a delicate, but slightly spicy tomato sauce. For my entrée, I had their barramundi house specialty which was a boned barramundi stuffed with shrimp in a light curry sauce. And for dessert? Profiteroles. A decadent ending to a great dinner. The special New Years set price for 3 courses was also reasonable at $ 100. They even gave me a complimentary glass of champagne to start off my night. Service was spot on, friendly and welcoming. And even when I asked a server if he minded working on New Years Eve, the answer was no, as he got to meet some really great people each night he comes to work. Loved his attitude! Great food, terrific service all served in a lovely environment that doesn’t feel pretentious. Give it a try. My guess is you’ll be happy you did!

Fish at the Rocks came highly recommended to us and our experience did not fail to live up to the hype. Upon entering the quaint restaurant perched, we were warmly greeted. From the moment we were served the delicious crisp yet soft bread, it was a great culinary experience. We started with the scallops which had a delightful polenta and sweet onions with tomatoes style jam. The seafood raviolis were amazing and had a refreshing broth. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the salmon which was accompanied by perhaps the best feta cheese from Tasmania we have ever had. The Barramundi was also quite delicious with perfectly crisped skin. To cap it off I managed to devour the Rhubarb Apple Crisp. Would highly recommend.

Really good food in an old historic and quiet section of Sydney near the Rocks. Found this on Unilocal,on Saturday night I took a long walk up to Millers Point and waited for it to open. At 6pm it immediately filled up. The staff are smart about the food and drink and steered me to the mixed crustacean platter. Very good, first bugs for me and they were delicious. I need to go back and really dig into this menu, the other patrons all evidenced delight… fish and chips seemed a hit.

Recommended by our concierge at the Marriott as a local place. Reviews can’t do it justice. Soft shell crab on the specials as an app(entrée in Aussie) was better than any in Maryland. Anything with mussels were big and juicy. The warm crusty roll and butter were perfect. Their version of fish and chips was waiting with Japanese bread crumbs was SO tender and fresh– to die for! Try the sparkling pinot noir chardonnay. Make a reservation and go there!

Food was decent. service was pretentious and terrible after 10 min we get water and then the other waiter gets the order who was good but after that we wait for 10 more minutes for some«warm bread», we get one each and no more! I wouldn’t go back to this restaurant in Sydney Not worth the money if you want a good experience and good food. you’ll probably get one at a time maybe it was just for us because everybody else seemed we’ll attended. we have been to several restaurants in the 2 weeks that we have been here looks like people don’t really care about customer service.

Set in a quaint area a little ways from The Rocks District, this amazing restaurant offers a great menu, delicious food and great service. The Early Bird at 6PM Is the best value for Sydney since prices are usually very high. We had a baked snapper for the main course. The serving was huge. For the appetizer, we chose the Crab Cakes which was also quite delicious. Reservations in advance is a must since they are generally booked in advance.

As good as it gets… ordered a bunch of things and there was not one single thing that wasn’t mind-blowing. Ended up ordering more bread to leave no drop from their mussels in white wine sauce and their ravioli… orgasmic! Yes, I just used that word. And since it’s a bit of a walk from the main part of The Rocks, it was quite and relaxing and that was an awesome atmosphere to have a quiet lunch. I would come here again and I highly recommend it

What a little gem, just a short distance away from the Rocks tourist haunts but miles above in quality. We loved the seafood linquini and the baked snapper and the fresh hot bread rolls. Service and ambience and value all well above those establishments further down the hillside. All 4.5 out of 5. Thankyou

Nice Catch… Pros: Great food. Friendly service. Cozy ambiance. Cons: You need a GPS system to find it. Suggestion: You can’t go wrong with the fish. Star Ratings: — Overall: 4 ½ — Food Quality: 5 — Food Quantity: 5 — Dining Room Attractiveness: 3 — Menu: 4 — Service: 5 — Noise: 4 — Price: 5 — Value: 5 — Exterior: 3 — Restrooms: 4 — Ambiance: 5 For the first dinner on our once-a-year major vacation(to Australia and New Zealand in March 2013), we needed a standout restaurant within walking distance of our hotel, the Shangri-La. Without missing a beat, the concierge heartily recommended Fish At The Rocks. Online reviews seemed to agree, so we hastily made reservations for 7PM. What a great way to start 2 weeks half way around the world from home. — Location: For such a well received restaurant, Fish At The Rocks is not easy to find. But maybe that’s part of its charm. The place IS in the heavily traveled section of downtown Sydney known as the Rocks, but definitely off the beaten path. Rather, it’s an ordinary storefront in a semi-residential neighborhood which doesn’t look like much from the street. Maps on smart phones are a necessity for unknown parts of new territory. On a wet and windy evening, it took the kindness of a stranger to point us in the right direction. — Food: Great. Dinner began with some of the best hot bread rolls that side of the equator. We shared a side salad of fresh yet unremarkable lettuce, but it was tossed with a lemony dressing which perked up our taste buds in a coma from 36 hours of almost continuous travel and relocation to a hotel. For an entrée, I had the broiled seafood salad with shrimp, crab and a filet atop steamed vegetables. Like a home cooked dream come true. My wife had herb crusted«white fish» which, while somewhat small in stature, brought her to raves… the first of several during the meal. For dessert, we shared(ahem, I allowed her to have a few bites) of flour-less chocolate cake with a small scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. It was among the best versions of such cake I’ve tried. To accompany the meal, we chose a Chardonnay from Mountandum in New Zealand. I’m sure that wine has many fans, and it was generally okay, but I’d try something a bit more buttery next time. Some of the fruit was a tad overpowering. — Menu: Not extensive, but when you’ve got several good choices in each category, it doesn’t need to be. — Service: A team effort. Since Fish At The Rocks is rather small and had a party of 16 among the guests, we had one primary server… a charming young woman(I’m a sucker for them)…the manager of the house… and a busboy/jack of all trades. They did a fine job. — Exterior: Nothing remarkable. You’ll pass it by if you don’t know what to look for. — Ambiance: I mentioned to the manager how it felt like a neighborhood slice of life in SF… the type of place common to that city about 60 miles from our home. He replied«strange you say that. I had someone in exactly your chair make the same observation at lunch today». Fish At The Rocks is certainly not a palace from the outside looking in, but it’s cozy, friendly and smells like heaven inside. — Cost and Value: Quite reasonable. I’d return to Fish At The Rocks in a heartbeat, especially since I won’t need a guide dog to help me find the front door.
