This is a functional lunch café in the MET Centre. It’s right in the walkway from Wynyard Rail Station, so is very easy to spot. The signage is bright and the offerings look great. There’s a range of salads, sandwiches, wraps and other food — mainly cold food, with all the usual lunch drinks. I had a Chilli Tuna and Salad Sandwich which was fine, but they did take a while to figure out how to produce a receipt for me. The food’s fine though.

Whatever happened to Boost Juice? Never mind, the banana date smoothie here is very similar to the Gym Junkie.

I’ve been chastising myself ever since lunch for giving this food bar a shot. Why? When it is but a mere 10 second walk from the illustrious Met Centre food court did I go down the unimaginative route? Following the ‘zesty’ theme there’s a garish lime green tint to the majority of this café’s décor… not so nice. I decided to have a salad box thinking it’d be zesty, if not at least green. I was wrong on both levels, the ‘salads’ bore no relation to fresh greens but were actually just cold pasta, rice or chickpeas spruced up with a few random additions. As I ploughed through this box of stodge I was grateful to find I’d worn a floaty and stretchy dress, as I found the rice amazingly undercooked and the belly swelling is never a good look. Perhaps it could pass as a maternity dress? You might find the range of smoothies on offer are more to your taste, but if I were you, I’d take the escalator upstairs.
