this restaurant is a little different in that you choose all your own ingredients and then take it to the chef that’s behind a glass wall and he’ll cook it right there in front of you, you can go as many times as you wish for seconds and thirds, so if you don’t mind constantly getting up out of your seat smörgåsbord style them you’ll enjoy genghis khan.

It was my second time trying this place out with 5 other good pals of mine. We decided to have friday dinner here since one of us bought the group deal voucher that entitled us drinks along with the all you can eat meal. Watching the chef cook your hand picked meal was fairly amusing at first, given that the finished product was in fact ‘created’ by you. With that being the case, you can’t really complain much about the food since it is up to us on how much flavours we wanted in our succulent fresh bowls. The broad variety of peking duck, BBQ, seafood oyster, and mongolian sauces customised with other condiments as ginger, sesame oil, soy sauce, and fish sauce means you could have the same ingredients but taste different everytime. This could be a real treat if you’d like to go for seconds and thirds. The service was according to standard expectations. My tip would be to arrive there earlier to grab your plates and avoid the queue as you wait for your customised dish to be stirred on the giant pan. Overall: Fun, cheap, and social way to enjoy a pleasant meal.

If it is a good, and a different experience you are after then try this place. If it is service you are also requiring, you may need to go elsewhere. The food is actually really lovely. Fresh, and full of flavour.

It has been nearly 15 years since I visited my first Genghis Khan. Over the years we have seen them change locations in the city and close their Chatswood store. However, one thing remains the same, I leave waddling after the all you can eat. Let’s be honest here, the buffet is not all they do, but I haven’t ordered any main dishes for 10 years. The buffet is a little different. I like the fact that you choose the meat yourself. You have a choice of thinly sliced frozen, beef, lamb, pork and chicken. If you wish you can have a little bit of all four. Tip. The bowls are not deep. So to make sure you have a decent amount of meat, push the meat down before you add your veggies. Your choice of veggies are carrots, capsicum, cabbage, bean sprouts. They used to have tomato but it wasn’t there on my last visit on Sunday. Then you move onto the sauces. Genghis are great, the provide you easy directions for what they believe is the makings for a good sauce. I have done this and it tastes great but over the years I like to experiment. They supply you with cooking wine, soy sauce, sesame oil, satay sauce, Mongolian sauce, garlic water, sugar water. I do miss their chilli oil that seemed to be missing. Tip make sure you put a lot of the different liquid ingredients in. If not you will find they will add water to it when it comes time for cooking and you can lose a lot of flavour. Once you have your meat, veg and sauce, you walk over to the cooking station then it is over to the cooks, who will cook your dish in front of you. They use large bamboo chopsticks. If they are in the mood they can put on a show, and throw your food into the air with a flick of the wrist. Cooking time is about 2 – 3 minutes. At this point when you get your food back in a clean bowl you can add chili paste, crushed peanuts and sesame seeds. This is a great place for birthdays. Warning bookings are essential for Fridays and Saturday’s. They now do web based booking. I didn’t give them five stars because they took away the free pickled carrot and cabbage. I know that it may be petty since they have now introduced all you can eat entrees of soup, chicken wings and battered sweet potato and fried rice. But sometimes it is those simple things that make a meal complete.

Up for a fun meal with your friends? Looking for a yummy meal freshly cooked right before your very eyes? Genghis Khan Mongolian BBQ Restaurant is the place to go. Now, Mongolian barbecue may not be to everyone’s taste but it may just be because you haven’t tasted it at Geghis Khan. Once you do, you’ll definitely put it on your list of fave foods. Here, you get to choose your own ingredients(and you’ll know they’re fresh too!) and get to see the chef fry it up in the pan with amazing food-tossing skills. And the best part about it is, it’s all you can eat so you can keep coming back for more! Try it out and you’ll see, they’ll make a convert out of you too!
