Definately not recommended if you have any heart conditions, but Kana Express serves up cheap, tasty fried stuff on sticks to locals and visitors alike in Koreatown. There’s a number of Korean ‘fried stuff on sticks’ places opening around this area, but i’m pretty sure Kana Express is the original. Friendly service to boot.

This place reminds me of hitting up the pojangmachas(street food stands) in Korea. Lots of the similar street foods you can find in Korea, but right in the heart of Sydney. No frills food stand right on Pitt Street in Koreatown. The sausage and rice cake stick is probably my favorite mainly due to the sauce. It’s a sweet and spicy sauce which is great. They also have pretty good ddukbokki(sweet/spicy rice cake) and kimbab(seaweed roll with veggie/meat filling). At first glance it’s not the prettiest of foods, but definitely tasty. Great for a quick snack, but wouldn’t necessarily stop by for lunch and/or dinner.

I stop by here on my way home from the gym when I can’t be fussed to get proper takeaway, to cook, or too stinky to eat at a sit down. Each time I somehow find myself getting the Korean hot dog… not just one, but two… you can’t beat $ 3 a pop! If you like meat on a stick this place will be your joint of choice, since they have several different types of skewers. It IS street meat after all so don’t expect the best quality… it’s also good if you’re drunk, since they’re open late.

I had the chicken and rice cake skewer with chilli sauce for $ 3 and it was freaking delicious. I bought it on the way home from a beauty appointment across the road and then gobbled it down in an alleyway between Pitt and George Streets, thereby negating any beautification I may have undergone in the two hours prior. Homeless people pointed and stared at me.

Came here one night after work because it was right across the street tempting me, like the previous review I was eyeing the korean hot dog, but it looked huge and not that appealing. I ordered the 3 su mai(I think here in sydney they just call it dim sum) it was I believe…$ 3? Anyways totally not worth it, they had no taste what so ever… Come here only in emergencies haha.

If you’re into deep-fried food, but often get tempted away by one of those silly healthy options, then look no further than this Korean hole-in-the-wall on Pitt Street. Everything is deep-fried! I happened to be a little peckish after work one evening and was about to wander right past this concealed shop front, when I suddenly started feeling a little too healthy, so I walked up to see if there was anything that could possibly change that, and lo and behold, there were lots of possibilites! I ended up going with a Korean hot dog(basically the Korean version of an American corn dog), which shall now be know as a Cardiac Surprise! With more batter than dog — and let’s face it, the humble hot dog is not known for it’s healthy qualities anyway — I decided to make the interesting choice of actually finishing it! Think I’d had a bad day or something. So if you feel you’ve been looking after yourself too much, and want to start training to get on the next series of the Biggest Loser, get yourself along to Kana Express!
