Korean Chinese relations haven’t always been great and using the word ‘fusion’ should be done cautiously if you don’t want ASIO’s spyware to spike an alert against you. There seems more Korea than China at this place and the traditional Korean penchant for garlic has been ramped up — I am finding my own breath offensive. I had a serious case of odd man out in this place. I was the only non Asian in the joint, which is fine but I wish I had waited until I had seen what every single person ordered before ordering chilli prawns with garlic sauce(and how!) — everyone had the black bean noodles and I mean everyone. It looks like spaghetti in an oil slick but based on the weight of numbers it must be the go to dish. I’ll get it next time, even though the prawns were great. This looks like one of those places to go back a few times, get the lay of the land, then take someone who hasn’t been and show off your Korean cuisine knowledge.

I’ve only gotten take away from here but I have been very happy on both occasions. Portions runs on the big siZe so order medium if unsure. I have been blown away by their sweet and sour pork. Really crispy and the sauce is amazing. I also recommend the seafood black bean noodles. Yums

I’m not sure if Kao Kao is actually Korean-Chinese fusion… seems to just offer some Korean dishes and some Chinese dishes. We enjoyed the kimchi and cold tea, but ended up ordering mostly Chinese dishes. The highlight was definitely the noodles with black bean sauce(aka zha jiang mian) – so delicious! definitely wanted more. Unfortunately the bulgogi topped with vegetables was a let down… The bulgogi wasn’t as sweet or tasty as the ones I have in Seoul or even in the US, honestly. For $ 10 – 12, they were very generous with the vegetables though. Although servers were nice enough, the food took a really, really long time to come out, even with just a few customers and a ton of employees. I found one entrée per person to be plenty, but somehow the tables next to me would order 3 huge dishes per 2 girls.

An enjoyable experience! This place has some of the best noodle dishes around. I tried the Fried Chilli Chicken & Black Bean Noodles and I was not disappointed. The staff are super friendly and joy to converse with. It’s not expensive but not cheap either — a great middle ground. I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves Korean or Korean Fusion food!
