Expensive but nice. Happy hour was decent, but we didn’t see any of the complimentary hors d’œuvre.a couple different beers to try that aren’t typical in Australian bars.

For environment 4.5. For taste well 4 for price 3 for size of dished 1. Well I did not hope it would be great value, but I never thought the French style pizza(sorry guys can’t remember the long French name) which is 6dollar is just a little bit larger than a 50cent coin. A decent duck leg with shredded smoked hock for 27dollars. That’s fine, what I can’t bear is the beer, 6.5 dollars schooner for happy hour and the taste is not good. Went to a Japanese bistro to make up for the loss lol. Anyway, good environment for show off or date a girl, coz they a Holy French, bazinga!

Came here last night(Thursday) with a group of 8 at 9pm for dinner — to our surprise they could accommodate us! We had been turned away everywhere else as all the bars and restaurants were full so we were grateful to sit down for dinner. Le Pub is a casual bar /restaurant with a French theme. It had a small entrance on the street that could quite easily be missed. The entrance had stairs that led downstairs and surprisingly the underground area was huge! The décor is very low key and casual. Mains are around $ 25 — $ 35 and is standard pub fare with French influences. The food was surprisingly better than expected. Some of the nicer pub food I’ve had. I tried the beef pie and some steak, both were good! The steak was juicy and cooked well.

Came here for lunch with some colleagues — love the décor! Really cool rustic setting. You definitely need to book in advance for a small group, as it always seems to be packed! Food is great and I really like the atmosphere. Not the cheapest place to grab lunch though

Ooooo la la. Loved this pub! I’m into my French eateries lately, so wanted to see if there was anywhere in sydney I could casually go to for a drink that’s a bit French inspired! Hmmmm not sure if this pub looked or felt French but it was definitely a funky find! i wouldn’t know, unfortunately i have never been to France yet! lol The inside of the pub looks amazing! quite big and cozy but definitely somewhere you should take your friends for Friday night drinks in the city. There’s the pub area but there’s also a big area just next to the bar with tables and chairs where all the funky looking décor is so definitely great for large parties :-) They have a great variety of food and drinks from little bar food nibbles to awesome steaks and soups! menu is quite french inspired so i’m sure all the Parisian’s would love to eat here for some classic all time french cuisine’s. I also loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee how each dish on the menu states the best recommended alcoholic beverage to go with it! I think thats what made me try out the pub in the first place! everytime i try a new restaurant or a pub to go to, i always check out their menu first, so when i saw that there was an alcoholic beverage assigned to each dish, it was definitely something that stood out to me! I also found a new favourite beer to drink at this place :-) i had a Leffe beer, a Belgium blonde ale! i love my beer! so it was definitely a great find! however!!! they served this beer in this massive wine glass! it was so huge! when I saw it, i had to ask for the smaller one or else i’d be crawling home! lol but even the smaller wine glass was huge! lol… it definitely made it look so much prettier :-) Check it out if you’re in the heart of Sydney CBD… the lovely french waiters and bar tenders will definitely look after you :-) Happy Unilocalin’ ya’ll!

Good place to come if you’re with friends and want to grab something to eat while drinking. Casual place but has a nice vibe. I actually came here alone since I was on business travel but didn’t mind I wasn’t with anyone. I ordered the duck and it was very good. Tasty and juicy. I actually finished the whole dish so it was a perfect portion. Staff is friendly. Could serve more as a place to start your night.

Having been to Le Pub before and it been too busy for me to get a seat at dinner, I’m so pleased that the food lived up to expectations. Boeuf bourguignon for me, a slow cooked lamb shoulder for MB. Loved our meals, enough butter in my delicious Paris mash that I may not wake up tomorrow. Our so frenchy so chic waitress was lovely but shamed me with my pronunciation of menu items. I do wish that I knew French so that I knew what was written on the back of the bathroom doors.

For reasons I can’t explain, Le Pub, to me, is more of a stopover than a final destination. If I’m meeting someone near Wynyard, I’m most likely going to suggest a pint of Leffe in this dark underground bar to kick things off.(Where else can you get delicious Leffe on tap?) There’s a steady flow of clientele, but you can usually find a table. The food is good, better than your standard pub fare, but I just can’t find myself getting excited for it. To be fair, I’ve only ever sat in the pub area with the high stools and narrow tables, but the place just doesn’t seem to welcome me in for more than a couple of drinks or a leisurely dinner– and that’s okay. Its good to have a place to knock back a few beers before moving on.

I dined at Le Pub on a Tuesday night with a friend and the experience was pleasant enough but nothing exceptional and there’s nothing that would make me want to visit again. The waitress was very attentive and checked up on us often, but gave us enough space to chat incessantly, plus she wasn’t pushy about not ordering entrées or desserts. I highly commend her service. I felt that the establishment itself was a strange mashup of pub and bistro that wasn’t executed well and seemed gimmicky more than anything. The lighting was a little too dim to be considered mood lighting and there was an irritatingly loud trivia competition that interrupted our dinner on occasion. The fine dining type of dishes seemed completely out of place in a pub setting and I felt that management couldn’t decide on what they wanted and instead hoped that they could pull off an avant garde twist of French and Australian culture. I ordered the lamb neck and they gave a decent sized serving of meat but the dish was somewhat tasteless with no melt in your mouth goodness. I was expecting a delightful balance of crunchy quinoa crumbs, and tender, succulent lamb, ingeniously fused together with a creamy purée — but instead of a texture Disney World I got an uninspired blend of mush. The presentation of the dish was a feast for the eyes, but unfortunately this did not carry over to the taste department. It was okay but the experience was largely forgettable.

It’s a bit contrived, but — as someone who’s been to France plenty of times — it does have a sufficiently French bistro/café feel to make it worth a visit. It’s huge, underground, with lots of dark wood. There are bench tables for large groups, a dining room, and booths with small skylights to the sidewalk for a bit of semi-secluded lightness. Too many screens with sports, though. Also the TAB/gambling room straight ahead of you when you come down the steps kind of put me off. But the menu has the steak frites, collet d’agneau, tarte aux poires, and lots of other typical Parisien fare. A great meeting spot.

This used to be a really crappy Irish pub PJ O’Gallaghers and is still run by Gallaghers the people who do all the Irish pubs and it shows in the Disney Land style props they use to evoke the French theme. However I really enjoyed the food here, it was impressive, I also actually quite like like Parisian theme. The things that let it down are TAB screens, really bad music and great big TV’s which looked out of place with the décor with the most forgettable hits of the 90s playing, also there is no effort made to make the staff buy into the theming and no sense that they even really care, they all wear generic black pub staff uniforms and look like they might all come from an RSL. It’s pleasant enough to go back to, but with so much great competition around the area I wonder if the music and lack of atmosphere might stop me. As far as food went, the Lamb shoulder was good and the quartet of gelato in cones wasn’t bad for dessert but just a little lacking in flavour.

This one’s for your city workers! We’ve found your next work lunch or after work drinks venue. Le Pub, a Parisian styled pub, has opened in a city basement, with entrances on both King and York Streets. This is the perfect spot for lunch with your co-workers or after work drinks. There’s no mistaking the Paris Metro feel of the interior, with a touch of old fashioned vintage glamour. Complete with TAB facilities, big screen TV’s and plenty of tables, Le Pub is sure to become your new city work local. Executive Chef Ronny Ghantous, formerly of North Sydney’s The Union Hotel, has created a French Bistro food menu and it is perfectly priced for those work catch-ups. My colleagues and I chose from Le Pub Petit Menu for lunch on our visit. We are not disappointed when our meals arrive. The food hits the right spot. It’s not overly fussy, but is certainly tasty. With friendly service to boot, what are you waiting for? Grab your workmates and head down to Le Pub soon!

I noticed this a coupe of weeks ago — looked promising, basement bar with Paris Metro overtones. On Cup day discovered it was open and decided to give it a look — and it looks great! Interior is nice — some good touches around the bar, custom printed tiles, very Underground feel. Décor is a bit contrived like they all are at present with antique suitcases and books and other bricabrac, but stil nice. TRouble was, most of the nice tile features had a TV plastered in front of them! It is an odd mix of trendy bar with sports bar — the menu was nice, had some good antipasto on it right beside wedges and bar food. A bit of an identity crisis I suspect! Seems like it is part of a chain of bars and pubs, and this shows in many aspects. The bit I really didn’t like was the pokie rooms out the back — kinda showing their true colours there to me, and I loathe the one armed bandits with a passion. Still, takes all sorts, so I will turn a blind eye. Antipasto platter was good with a nice house-tinned pork rillettes and great fresh bread, soaks the plonk up a treat. Worth a look, I’ll give it another squiz and just walk on by the poikes.
