Okay, this place should be on your list. From the Negro Modelo to the seafood main, spectacular. Service, excellent. Lamb, awesome. Seafood, outstanding. We slid our walk up reservations UNDER on existing one an hour later! AWESOMEFLEXIBILITY ! Friday night too. Yep. Will be back.

The classic feed me was probably up there with the worst value meal I’ve ever had. It was filled with potato, rice, corn and other cheap food to give it substance. The chicken(selected main) was significantly over poked and dry. The knife I was shiver struggled to get through it. The ceviche was poor quality fish though had a decent flavour. Overall it was really difficult to see any good in tonight’s meal. The staff were great but the food underwhelming.

BEWARE12⁄10FOODPOISONINGALERT We are visiting Sydney on our honeymoon. My husband was born in Mexico so we were excited to try this restaurant. Long story short, service was awful; food was okay; and it gave me diarrhea and vomiting within hours. SERVICE: We arrived around 5pm. We asked for a table for two. The young man who greeted us was rude, like he was annoyed we were there. The place was empty at this time except about four tables. He barks, «I can give you a table but you have to be done by 6:30p.» Ok, rather rude way to say you’re booked starting at 6:30. 1 ½ hours seemed like plenty of time to eat, but the service was SOSLOW that if we didn’t get finished by then it would’ve been their fault and not ours. There were a dozen or so employees who passed us without greeting us at all for about 15 minutes. They were socializing in the back. Finally, we asked a guy who looked like a manager type when someone would take care of us. He took our initial order. We were essentially ignored the whole time despite the fact they were not crowded at all when we arrived. We had to flag someone down every time we needed something. If my husband wouldn’t have been so excited to try Mexican food, I would have left the place before ordering due to the lack of service. FOOD: The chicken taco was okay, but the sauce had a barbeque flavor to me. Husband said it was similar spices to a certain region in Mexico. The pico was good. They do not give you enough chips. Like seriously you get 8 or 10 chips. They come on this flat plate and a couple fell to the floor leaving us with even less chips. We also tried this other chicken with a pineapple salsa & quinoa. The salsa was okay, but the chicken had no seasoning or flavor and quinoa was barely noticeable. Just a few specs under the chicken. I didn’t care for the chorizo, the consistency of the tiny pieces was gross. If the service would have been better, we might have tried everything on the menu but realized it wasn’t worth it. FOODPOISONING: Fast forward a few hours, I did not eat anything else other than food from here and all of a sudden abdominal cramps and nausea followed by explosive diarrhea and vomiting at the same time. Yes, I’m certain it’s food poisoning from here; I’m traveling with a doctor, my husband. He’s starting to have cramps now as well, his stomach is a lot stronger than mine but it’s probably his turn for the toilet soon.

I have come here a few times now as some of my friends and colleagues love it. Up until few days ago I was impartial. Thought the food was average and also the service. However this time around it was faultless. Atmosphere was buzzing, staff where friendly and bubbly. The holiday season looming could be the reason. I got invited by my client and we had a smashing time. The corn lollipops are absolutely to die for. Than the table theatre of the waiter making the guacamole at our table was great and than dipping the plantain chips Devine!!! Must haves: — corn lollipops — chorizo with black beans — cocktails — sangria — lamb The only downside was they seemed to have run out of sparkling water but the cocktails and sangria kept us in a merry mood.

This is one of the best meals I have had in months! Absolutely everything was perfectly cooked. My favourites were the corn lollipops, chorizo salsa & lamb adobe. The service was also just right. Not too little and not too much. If you are considering this in the words of Nike — ‘Just Do It!’

To be fair I have probably had more tequila in here than the food. Their selection here is probably the best outside Mexico. This particular trip I went with a work colleague and we sat at the bar and had a traditional margarita to start. Yum. We had been chatting to the barman and he asked what next. My reply. That was nice it was like being made love to by someone you know well. So now I want to be grabbed by the ears looked straight in the eye and told to f@$k my brains out. BOOM he made this mescal margarita with a grasshopper salted rim. So so good. Now my standard when I go there. It’s raw smokey notes and citrus flavors… after that I was feeling somewhat bruised and soiled, but in a totally good way. It was exactly what I wanted so what next? I want cuddle after that. Call it a naughty spoon. So now he makes this raspberry margarita with fresh raspberry and I think pineapple tequila. A lovely mellow sweet dessert of a cocktail. Great way to end the session Oh the food? Small plates of delicious. Have to have the smashed avocado to start. After that pick anything. The soft tacos. Mmmmmmmm Love love love this place

I had dinner at Mejico twice. Customer service is good but not all of the food are excellent. Good: — Their signature guacamole with banana chips. Ask them to make on your table, it will be fresher. A healthy version of dorito. — Pork belly: my favourite pork belly in Sydney until now. Yup, it’s much better than Mr.Crackles. Moist and crunchy at the same time. — Quinoa salad: very fresh, moist and crunchy. Bad — Beef ribs: they are cooked so soft that I feel like I’m eating pull beef. The sauce is a bit too sweet. Not the best ribs.(Char-grilled steak is a better option in the menu) — Sticky pudding with coconut ice cream: very sweet. I can’t handle it. It should come with a free medicine to prevent diabetes. — Salmon taco: nothing special. I give 3 stars because the price is expensive for small portion and average food.

The service at this place was top notch — the waiters were very friendly and helpful. To our surprise, the tequilas we ordered came with the traditional sangrita — a combination of tomato and hanabero chillies which nicely complemented the acerbic tanginess of the liquor. To our surprise, they actually made guacamole at the dinner table, which allowed us to see the fresh ingredients they used — including a perfectly ripe avocado. The guacamole was delicious and so were the plantain chips.

Look, Unilocal, you and I have been together awhile now, and I’ve relied on you more times than I can count, but this time, you’ve let me down. I’ve been walking by Mejico for years now, looking at the crowd. Knowing the reviews weren’t that great, I never bothered stepping inside. And well, Unilocal, you’ve got this one wrong. BDub and I split all of: corn lollipops Perhaps the best chipotle corn I’ve had. Minimal cheese and I don’t know why there was popcorn on the plate, but the sauce was delicious and spicy. pork tacos a bit sweet, but delicious nonetheless. Might try the chicken next time. short rib nicely cooked, tender, falling apart, again perhaps a bit sweet, but tasty. Nice spice level. patatas bravas as someone who prefers a tomato based patatas bravas, these mayo based ones were really good once we added a dash of salt. Loved the smashed chats and, again, great spice level. I’m a pretty hard judge of Australian Mexican and I really enjoyed my meal at Mejico. The above food rang in at $ 61, pretty reasonable for a dinner out. Service was great as well. Maybe I went to a different Mejico than some of these other reviewers.

Have been here twice and have absolutely loved my experience both times. Straight through the wide and inviting doors, you’re greeted with the modern, trendy and fresh vibe of the restaurant. Décor is a huge plus, with oversized exotic black lamps hanging overhead and rustic brick walls. Highly recommend: — The guacamole. It’s made fresh in front of you and served with thinly sliced banana chips. — Corn cobs with popcorn and a really unique corn and popcorn hot salsa. It’s like a party in your mouth. — The drinks! The cocktails are sweet and fruity but very alcoholic at the same time. They also serve more than a hundred types of tequila. There is a wooden spinner on the table where you spin 3 times to create your perfect tequila with 3 elements(an element is chosen with each spin). All the other food tasted good as well. The chorizo and black eye pea with corn chips dish came with around 6 corn chips — could have done with triple the amount. A really enjoyable experience but remember to book well in advance! It’s crowded even on a Monday.

Noise level — high Food highlight — guacamole with plantain chips, any of the tacos. Ceviche is good but a little on the expensive side considering the portion size.

I came to Mejico with 3 other girlfriends who love tequila, and as for me, i am not a tequila drinker(i know i know.) but the Bartender suggested the«Fiesta» cocktail for me which is chargrilled pineapple infused Jose Cuervo, raspberries, vanilla, citrus, agave — $ 16. I must say, for a person that doesn’t like Tequila, this was quite delicious. The tequila wasn’t the cheap tequila you usually get from House Tequila at the Bar. It was subtle and tasty, and the sweetness of the pineapple and raspberries masked the tequila flavour. My other two girlfriends who like tequila got the Classic Margaritas. They loved them, but it had a strong tequila taste which I don’t like. Now, onto the food. We ordered: — Guacamole $ 14 — Corn Lollipops $ 12 — Lamb Adobo $ 29 — Achiote Chicken $ 26 — 2 Serves Pork Tacos $ 12 each I really enjoyed all of our choices, but I loved the tacos! Yum. The pork tacos were described as slow braised pork, chilli caramel salsa, aioli and sratchings and it was DELICIOUS! I really enjoyed the sauce on the corn lollipops, and the lamb adobo was cooked to perfection. The achiote chicken was cooked really well, it was chicken breast and it was still juicy and tender. I was so full by the time the meat had come out that I didn’t eat a lot of it. The food we ordered was plenty for 4 people and we still had leftovers. Next time I would order the churros for dessert!

On first glance, this is a very trendy place… Cool vibe, and good music! If recommend booking if you want to eat here as it’s quite crowded. I came with a group of friends and we opted for the set menu of $ 55 which was good as it enabled us to try a lot of things! Some dishes were 5:5, others weren’t as good but it depends on your taste buds and what you like. Some stand outs for me were the protein dishes as they had a lot of flavour… The grilled chicken breast had some zest and was garnished with fresh mango. The lamb was booked perfect and was juicy! The chimichurri dip really added to the lamb. I tried 2 cocktails — jalapeño margarita and the habanero… Which was out to burn! The bar tender even came over and said it burnt his taste buds. Was an interesting experience but I wouldn’t recommend that one! Overall it’s a nice place to try! Definitely give it a go!

I definitely enjoyed my evening at Mejico. it’s a big, crowded and fairly noisy place, but the atmosphere is relaxed and we had a lovely waitress who was friendly and took good care of us. The food was yum, i wouldn’t call it delicate or refined, but it’s tasty and festive. Actually the biggest problem we had was that we ordered a lot of bit a pieces before our mains, and were full before they arrived. I strongly recommend the corn lollipops which are yummy and original, love that sauce they put on it. The chicken tacos were unanimously the best tacos on the menu(we tried them all). i had the lamb adobo for mains, it was nicely cooked and generous in portion. other people ordered the achiote chicken and the yucatan fish and everyone was happy about their dish. The flourless chocolate cake for desert was fantastic, nice and melty in the middle. All up, it was a nice festive dinner, with good, unpretentious food. The place is good for groups(definitely more than for dates). If you are looking for refined and elegant dishes: keep looking, but for a friends night out it’s a great place.

Drink and sharing small plates on saturday nite. Great atmosphere, but bit noisy. Nice interior and lighting. Been here few times, but this time away from tequila, margarita and tried white sangria. Highly highly recommend White Sangria. Ordered carafe and we finished in a blink. Very refreshing, tasty and quite similar to mojito. Didn’t feel like alcohol. Very refreshing. Instead of ordering big plates, ordered three small plates to share with drink. Guacamole on table, scallop ceviche and chicken tacos. Guacamole dip was average. Need to have more flavour. I added salt and it tasted better. Also after eating it for a while, it was bit greasy. Scallop ceviche was lovely. There are 4 peices. Cute presentation. Similar texture to guacamole, but had more flavour. Couldn’t taste much of scallop though. Chicken taco was average, but the portion and presentation was bit disappinting. It was mini soft taco and it had too much sauce and it came out like takeaway style. Overall, drink, vibe and service was great! For food, based on the small plates I had, they are average. Big plates(main) might be better option. Tip: They have $ 10 margarita all day on Monday!!!

I wandered into Méjico late last night with my mates and was happy to snag a seat in the lounge. We were out for a birthday and were primarily concerned with dining where we could get a free bottle of wine on Citibank(best bank ever!). This left us with slim pickings in the CBD. Luckily, Méjico took us in and served up awesome food(even after 9pm!) and that wine was delish. This food is phenomenal but I wouldn’t call it Mexican. I’m not even sure it wants to be called Mexican aside from the name. There are way more Latin American themes going on in the food and it definitely is a menu built around Aussie tastes. With this disclaimer in place let me say, I loved every dish we ate. Our selections were mainly vegetarian: Black Rice Salad, Summer Salsa, Corn Lollipops, Mushrooms, and Jalapeño Poppers. The black rice was super simple but had a nice acidity. Since they only gave us 4 chips with the salsa I ate them together which was a nice combo. The unripe plantains went well with the rice. The corn had a great sauce and was well grilled. Mushrooms seemed out of place, more Italian, but they were still tasty enough. I was a huge fan of the jalapenos but the birthday girl couldn’t handle the spice. Be warned. I couldn’t resist the pulled pork tacos. Ask for them since they aren’t on the menu. They are so good. All this is fine but what really put this place over the charts for me is the dessert menu. We ordered the churros(best I’ve had in Sydney), the flourless chocolate cake, and the lemon meringue. The cake comes with amazing spiced nuts and ice cream which was truly surprising and delicious. I love spice and really enjoyed how the whole menu shows this off. Chilies are awesome! The lemon meringue was kind of deconstrcted and really fun. Yeah, maybe its a bit weird on a Mexican menu but remember what I said? It’s not really mexican. It’s just fun.

So much potential but didn’t quite hit the mark. I don’t appreciate that our 5th guest had to squeeze in next to a cupboard; 537 bottles of tequila but they’d ran our of the only Malbec; no lamb; no this, no that. Running out of food isn’t a good sign. Great interior and pretty good service. As I said, so much potential but just didn’t get there.

Mejico re-defines modern Mexican cuisine and does it elegantly with its masterful use of spices and a splash of creativity. The extensive drinks menu boasts a collection of 230 different tequila that you can choose from. The vibe is joyous(must be the tequila) and the food is delicious. L and I were already planning our next visit half way through our entrees.

You can definitely find better Mexican elsewhere and for a lot cheaper. The interiors are lovely but the food is a little disappointing. Apart from the fresh guacamole there is nothing else here that stands out.

Had seen the name pop up in my social media feeds, hadn’t investigated it though. But last night stumbled upon it with my eating partner(and life partner, and was very very impressed. Staff was very quick to get us a table even without a booking. Drinks menu the size of small novel. But the FOOD; outstanding. Their specialty Beef Short Ribs were to die for. Service absolutely fine and pleasant. Can’t wait to go back.
