Delicious ramen with nice menu selection. Fun family style tables. If you’re hungry… they have a double portion bowl!

Service was fast and efficient in this little store. You walk up, order and pay at the register. Next you take your number and sit to wait for your order. The kitchen was small but you can see the busy kitchen staff dishing out one delicious noodle dish after another. The menu included both ramen and udon with a variety of broth. I ordered the Menya tonkotsu with egg, pork belly and seaweed. It came to my table in a few minutes and it was perfect on a chilly day like today. The warm soup had a milky, white porky flavor. Ummm sooo good!

After seeing the consistent queue out the door of this restaurant, I decided to stop by for dinner to get a ramen noodle bowl. I was amazed with how rich the flavors were in the broth and the vegetables! I had gotten the spicy veggies and they absolutely packed a punch! The service was excellent considering how busy they were. The restaurant is a small space with limited seating but it has bar seating spread throughout.

Lovely service and good, authentic ramen. Had the menya ramen. The soup was savoury, thick and the char siew(sliced pork) melted in my mouth. Free flow water which I appreciated and small beers at $ 7. Perfect. Didn’t have to wait Long because I was there early at 6pm sharp.

I got a mini katsu don here for 8.90 aud for a quick lunch Dont judge. I know its a noodle bar. Katsudon was ok, pretty average in my opinion for the size and price. The only reason im giving this place 4 stars is because the ramen is good. My choice: yokohoma tonkotsu ramen which comes is a decadent and richly flavoured pork based broth. I find the ramens here a bit more salty than other places. Noodles come in medium chewiness factor so make sure you let em know if you like it harder. One of the nice eats for 10.90aud There’s the chilli beef one if you can handle the spice… seriously hot stuff Fyi, ramen is really salty so prepare to drink lots of water before and drink a hot tea after for best results.

Stood in a queue that started well before the place opened at noon. Grabbed a menu so I could make my choice as you order and pay before you sit down. People further back in line had to wait for a seat in the small place. Ordered the Kyoto Ramen under the chefs recommendations. Very delicious, though listed as spicy and it wasn’t. Deep, rich chicken broth with great noodles and a sheet of nori and a soy egg perfectly cooked. The bowl filled me up and was incredibly satisfying. If you have to stand in line to get in, well just pitch a tent and wait. This place is worth it.

The service was great. The food was served quickly And was tasty and the spice level was just eight. Spice can be increased if needed and there is a lot of choice.

Finally ticked this off my list, with a karaage ramen bowl. The food was good and reasonably priced but it didn’t knock my socks off. Convenient but not a destination restaurant. Mappen remains the go to.

Menya is a cute place tucked under a large building, so if you can navigate to find it, you’ll enjoy a small treasure. I enjoyed the large menu selection. While a bit overwhelming, there were suggestions for the Chef’s Recommendations along with all the traditional ramen bowls. My choice for the black garlic oil style tonkatsu did not disappoint. Good flavour from the rich broth along with all the toppings at no extra cost made it a great choice. Noodles were cooked well and it was quite filling, so you need not order extra toppings or sides unless you are really hungry. They have indoor and outdoor seating, all covered, and allows for larger groups. It’s definitely a casual décor and a good spot for solo travellers like me looking for a late night bite of noodles.

Tucked away behind the BT(British Telecom) building on the corner of Kent and Market Street. Menya Noodle Bar as the name suggests is more of a bar than a restaurant with the inner dining area consisting of low tables and stools and the outdoor dining area containing aluminium chairs and small tables. During the weekday lunch rush you will often find a small queue forming out the door. With the inside getting crammed, some people opt for the outdoor section. Beware when the weather isn’t too nice the outdoor seating is not sheltered from heavy rain and wind. I have tried both the Chicken Katsu Ramen and Udon and I could not find fault with either of them. Price is good value and you will leave with a smile on your face and a belly full of warm noodles and broth on a cold winter’s day :)

Menya is a must-stop for ramen lovers. It has a large range of options and portions are really generous. Food is always delicious! However, on the negative side, you need to prepare yourself to wait a bit to get your food. The location is not really fortunate and the shop is quite small. They do take-away too. I particularly love to go to Menya during autumn/winter to heat up the day :)

Thanks to Unilocal for leading me here! I was craving ramen and wanted something within walking distance from our hotel. I was considering Ippudo, but we have that in the States and I wanted to try a «local» place. Menya is tucked inside/between some office buildings, but there were a sign on the sidewalk that led the way. We came on a Saturday for lunch and arrived right before a wave of people came, so we lucked out and didn’t have to wait for a table. They have a pretty large selection for a ramen place(most places I’ve been to usually have just a handful of varieties for ramen), so I’m sure everyone should be able to find a bowl they like. The BF and I got agedashi tofu and gyoza in addition to our bowls of ramen. The tofu and gyoza were pretty standard, and the ramen was good. Nothing was mind-blowing amazing, but it’s good enough that I would come back again.

Hidden behind a building menya noodle bar serves one of the best ramen in Sydney. In addition to ramen the noodle bar also serves udon, rice don, and appetizer. This is a very small store and there is normally a line up to order. Before taking a seat you will have to order at the cashier, they will provide you with a number and bring the food to your table. There are so self serve water machines in the store.

I love a good bowl of ramen and Menya definitely fit the bill. It has a large range of options that won’t leave you disappointed, and you can either eat in or takeaway. I went at peak lunch hour and still managed to get a seat though it was packed. There are large shared tables inside, and the staff will allocated you with a table number and tell you where to sit. Be prepared to sit at a table with people you don’t know. It’s squishy, but definitely worth it! For $ 11.90 I got a massive bowl of delicious ramen. Perfectly cooked noodles and egg, sliced pork and shallots. You can pick the type of soup to go with your ramen — I went with shoyu. Soooo delicious. I only wish I lived in Sydney so I could frequently visit!

If you’re looking for good ramen at cheap prices in the city, Menya fits the bill perfectly. For the $ 11.90 I paid, I certainly got my money’s worth. Noodles cooked just right with a perfectly cooked yolk(orange and just set), slices of pork, a serving of shallots, and black garlic oil in rich, flavoursome broth. Plus it arrived in around 6 minutes from when I ordered! My only complaint on the food would be that the pork slices had big rims of fat — so there was more fat than pork, but fatty pork is normal in ramen. The restaurant is self-service — order at the counter, take a number and find a seat. Water is self-service from the water fountain. Service is minimal, they take your order and present you with food politely. Restaurant is small, maybe can hold 30 at maximum capacity. All in all, good food, cheap prices but you wouldn’t come here for amazing service or ambience(they matter to me a lot, hence the 3 star rating — would be 4 stars otherwise!).

One of the better ramens I tried in Sydney. It’s cheap, fast, and tasty. In fact, my friend who took me there said it’s her favorite. The gyoza and the tempura shrimps were just alright though. Just for the record though, I have had better and ramen is still ramen to me…

This authentic Japanese restaurant becomes my new favorite for lunch in the CBD. Best shoyu ramen I ever tasted in Sydney! Tonkotsu ramen is not bad at all, just a little bit too salty to me. The portion is good and price is reasonable.

Thanks to some Unilocal reviews I decided to checkout this hidden gem tucking inconspicuously between to buildings that just happened to be between the train station and my hotel one night. Firstly the place has all the stuff you love to see in a noodle shop, simple menu, with at a couple of customization options and easy ordering at the door as you walk in was a bonus. Once seated you sit on large communal tables at the benches along the walls, the serving staff then proceed to bring out your order as it is prepared. I had chili beef ramen with miso stock, and a side of gyoza, and the both were very flavorsome and enjoyable; great value too since I purchased them in a pack with Sapporo beer.

Hidden under a office block, this Japanese casual noodle bar is very popular. On the time I went, there was already a queue of 4 tables before the dinner service starting time of 6pm. The layout is made up of huge tables and bar style seating inside and a few tables of 2 – 3 outside. KARAGERAMEN They were generous with the chicken, although I’m not a fan of them serving it in the soup, I guess that’s the tradition. Noodles were nice with a bite to them. The only big mistake was a long hair found in the soup. MENYARAMEN(SETMEAL) The only slice of pork in it was very delicious and the egg was also pretty good. Soup was well-seasoned and the noodles same as above. BEEFCURRY Beef was so tender with that classic sweet Japanese curry and rice. GYOZA Average dumplings but can’t really complain for the price as part of the deal. Although I would not order them separately. Conclusion Good value, although lacking that x-factor. The hair in the ramen might have affected the taste psychologically either way that should not happen no matter how much you charge. @thesydneynoob

Being the ramen addicts that we are, the boyfriend and I asked our Sydney-local friend where the best ramen in town is, and Menya is the name that he gave us, so we went off to investigate whether or not his claim was true. Menya is a bit hidden and difficult to find, but when you get to the general area of where it’s supposed to be, you’ll see signs pointing you in the right direction. The atmosphere of the place is extremely casual; you place your order at the front and then seat yourself at one of the communal tables, the bar, or in the outdoor seating area. I ordered the Menya Ramen with tonkotsu, which was recommended to us by the cashier, and tonkotsu is my go-to broth for ramen. The piping hot bowls came out quickly, and before long, we were all digging in. The Menya Ramen has a little bit of everything — chashu, a soft-boiled egg, fishcake, and seaweed sit on top of a pile of perfectly-cooked ramen noodles. The broth itself isn’t the very best tonkotsu I’ve ever tasted, but it certainly packed a lot of flavor and ranks pretty high on my list. I devoured that bowl within minutes and craved another soon after. Our friend certainly didn’t steer us wrong :)
