Unfortunately, I was rather disappointed about this café despite hearing such great things. The food was quite pricey and rather mediocre. However, their coffee is one of the best which is why they continue to have queues out the door every morning.

Well priced, well crafted coffee in a city where this dark brown elixir is a bit of a religion. The crowds that line up validate the quality product being conjured here.

The best part of Wynyard would probably be all the coffee shops near the train and bus stations. So many options! That equals quality and value for money. This place is quite small but has a few tables for those eager people who want a filling brekkie. The service is quick and friendly, which is always good 7am in the morning. The coffee had a nice aroma with it. The best part is that it’s only $ 3.50 for a large! I particularly enjoy when they add the sugar in for you too. So all in all, this café is not a bad place to grab your morning dose of coffee, but feel free to explore the other cafes too!

Came up on the radar as a quirky slice of Newtown in the CBD… Seems about right! Long line that moved quickly, most customers were takeaways or pavement dwellers. I ordered an egg tart and piccolo latte, sat at the window. Egg tart was a breakfast in a muffin — egg, bacon and spinach roasted in a muffin shaped tin. Tasty and ready to eat after reheating — no seasoning necessary. The latte was nicely done, delicate foam art and a strong(but not burnt) coffee. Happy days. The egg tart appeared to tick the paleo box, if that matters to you! Will try again tomorrow.

My regular around wynyard for consistently good coffee, love the long bench near the window. Some lovely staff, there’s just one girl to watch out for if you’re looking to relax, she seems to set a mental timer once you take a seat and will come and badger you on the half hour to order something new — even in the slower hours of the late afternoon! So I’ll tend to get takeaway for food now. but still it’s a stellar little joint for coffee so can’t keep me away for too long.

Good little café in Sydney CBD on York St. Crazy busy during morning rush hour. Had the baked beans and eggs with bacon and mushroom sides. All good, as was the flat white. Menu is not overly extensive, but everything I saw looked good.

Palomino make a darn pretty good coffee! At $ 3 it’s also not too pricey(their full on breakfasts on the other hand are bit more expensive than elsewhere, but at good quality nonetheless). There’s a stream of regular customers, and it’s probably because of this that your brew arrives quickly. This shop does have a bit of a space issue. I’m not entirely sure if they tried to address that by putting in child-sized chairs, as in «if the chairs look small the place must look more spacious». But it doesn’t work when you put life-sized adults on them! Has that even been approved by fire fighting authorities? :] And what’s that horse doing on the front window?!?

I loved this place! We were visiting Sydney for a few days and wanted some good ol’ breakfast that wasn’t from a hotel and wasn’t a crappy croissant warmed over indefinitely in an office building. The décor was on point, and huge, high ceilings and windows made a small, crowded space a lot more inviting on a busy morning. The coffee was wonderful, the breakfast made exactly to order on fairly short turnaround even when packed with hungry office workers, and the avocado toast was phenomenal. Highly recommend, especially for fellow tourists.

This place is great. The coffee is fantastic. However it is a smoother bean then I would prefer, it is still a great cup of coffee. However, the lady did spell my name Tanbw, even though I spelled it five times. Saying that the staff is extremely helpful and happy to be there. Unlike some other places that you can see the people regret their choices in life. And the muffins and other baked goods are amazing. The only down side is this place is crowded, so if you want to sit down you might have to come early. But if you are grabbing a cup of coffee and a quick bite, this place is perfect.

Great little café on York st. Cool vibe and great coffee. They use Morgans coffee and it is expertly made. The baked treats are fantastic! Sometimes it’s the simple things that make you like a place. For me it’s the way they spelt the store name with scrabble letters on the side wall near the front window. Makes for good photos.

It feels like its been forever since I tried a new coffee place and liked it. In reality its probably only been a few weeks, but when I’m in my most vulnerable caffeine deprived state, it can seem like forever. Palomino has some very important pros: — good, strong-ish, coffee — friendly staff — beat the Q(should you not wish to talk to the friendly staff) I’d prefer the coffee a bit stronger, but other than that my only criticism is of the lids. This place must source their lids from the same place Klink does, because by the time I make it 3 blocks, half of the contents have left the cup and found their way on to my arm. If only I could absorb caffeine that way.

This morning, I sat having an early breakfast in the York St window of Palomino, watching capitalism at work. A steady stream of caffeine deprived regulars and passersby slowly filled the neat, cosy little space. As 8am approached, the coffee line spilled out onto York St. This is where the magic of capitalism happens. Hopeful souls walk briskly toward Palomino in the cool winter morning and I watch as they realise the time commitment to caffinate at their favourite equine dubbed nirvana. Some stay, it is worth the wait. Others will spend their money elsewhere today and reward others willing to provide a good product with good service. Because capitalism rewards this formula, and Unilocal!helps this process along. Palomino followed the recipe and now customers are willing to line up out the door in mid winter. Olé’

A real treat in the the CBD… An unsuspecting, small shop front opens up into a spiffy coffee shop with great food to boot. Coffees are fast and very well made– no slacking for the cowboys and cowgirls behind the barista bar. The best part about Palomino is that they not only do lovely coffees, but they also have a great menu for brekky and lunch. For brekky you cannot overlook the Bircher muesli with berry compote and pistachios– it will make a gloomy start to your day instantly sunny! At lunch the salads are inventive, tasty and healthy, with really nice quiches. Definitely worth legging it a few blocks from your office for this little CBD special!

What a great little place. I didn’t even know Palomino existed until I was invited there by some Unilocalers for a coffee and a chat, but I’ll definitely be heading back soon. I didn’t eat on this visit, but the coffee gets a definite thumbs-up from me. Nice vibe, too. Quick, friendly service without the pretention of a lot of similar CBD cafes these days.

I met some rads to the max Unilocalers here for a coffee and a chat and loved the whole vibe of this place. The Newtown-ish feeling is totes unexpected in the middle of the CBD but the suits can’t seem to get enough of it! The girl taking my order misunderstood my order of a long black and delivered me an espresso poured over sparkling water with ice which I was surprised to get but totally happy to drink it once I tasted it — it’s surprisingly yummo. 2 minutes later, my long black arrived so by the time I left, I was buzzing around like a kid after 15 slushies(and not the sugar free type!).

Palomino is not only my new favourite working-lunch spot, it’s an oasis in the veritable wasteland that is the CBD’s coffee shop situation. Sporting great free wifi and even better coffee, I spent the afternoon powering away courtesy of their signature sparkling coffee, green power juice and BB King jams. Coffee snobs rejoice: cold drip? Yep. Pour over? Sure. But it’s not just coffee — a wall-covering chalkboard menu sports abundant breakfast and lunch options as well as daily specials, juices and smoothies, and guest single origins. Everything is homemade, from brownies and pretzels to mince and cheese pies and falafel wraps. It’s tough not to fall in love at first sight with the tiled bar, the wood paneled back wall, the industrial-themed communal tables and chairs. It’s impossible once you’ve met the staff and tried the coffee.

What a treat! Seriously get some time to come check out this absolute gem :) If you want: Delicious baked things for morning or afternoon tea THISISYOUR place. Try the amazing Red Velvet Tea Cakes, Carrot Cake Muffin!, Orange Cake Slice and much more. If you want: Killer sandwiches(I put a photo up) come here. They are fresh — not stifled by plastic wrapping like some of the other famous bakeries in town. The fillings are delish. The bread amazing and my friends swears by the pretzel bread options! If you want: Quiche. Then pull up a chair order the daily special quiche and have a good time(I put a photo up)! Try it out you will be impressed however lots of will power is required if you have just done a spin class and need to avoid their baked goods for afternoon tea.
