Nice pasta, safe bet in the food court, fair price and fairly quick. Only thing I would change is the credit card surcharge thing(not a deal breaker). oh yeah, its in the licenced part of the food court so you can order a drink :)

Sydney is packed with some of the nicest people in the world. Unfortunately the manager /owner of this establishment does not fall into that category. At all. We ordered a Caesar salad and it came loaded with Bacon. We explained we were vegetarian and didn’t want it with Bacon, but he stated that we didn’t know what we were talking about because all Caesar salads come with bacon. We kindly disagreed and said not all caesar salads come with bacon. He said he had had caesar salads all over the world and they all came with bacon, even in the U.S. We then asked for a refund but he said no again. When we asked if he believed in customer service he stated not when the customer makes a mistake and orders wrong. Of course no where on the menu does it mention Bacon. We started to get really annoyed and asked for a simple green salad. He said no again. We were really angry now an we started arguing, and then he said«just make her a green salad to get her outta here!!!» Needless to say we will not be going back. Too bad because the food was good.

All of the foot court entries up on the top levels of the downtown Westfield Pitt St are pretty swish, as befits the consumer segment the mall is targeting. Ragu is Italian, and I’ve stopped here twice because(a) it’s quite good, and(b) you can be a solo diner and not feel awkward. The menu has a full range of antipasti, pastas, and meat and fish dishes. I’ve not sat at the small tables and gone for a full feast, since I just stop for a break while shopping, or between appointments. In these instances a single person can pull up a stool along the bar and eat and drink there: nice option. I like having an appetiser and a bowl of pasta: last time it was Sicilian olives stuffed with anchovies, and fresh pappardelle with ragu sauce. You can mix and match several types of pasta(dried or made fresh) with several sauces. Their wine list is great, with several Italian choices but also Australian ones, and enough by the glass to mix and match with your courses. Service is attentive. The brick, steel and glass design makes the place feel bigger than the small corner of a mall food court it actually is. It’s a very civilised shopping stop.

Delicious, perfectly al dente, freshly made pasta for only $ 14. Not the best pasta in Sydney, but certainly the best food court pasta in Sydney(although that probably isn’t hard). I’m deducting one star only because the sauces are a bit too oily. The tomato-based sauces are not too bad but the cream-based sauces are shockingly greasy, surpassed in oiliness only by the Exxon Valdez oil spill of 1989. I normally get the fettuccine with ragu or Napoli sauce. Serving sizes are decent and wait time is around 10 minutes.
