«Did you really come all the way to Australia just to get a free bubble tea?» –my partner’s Australian cousin «YES.» — me Allow me to explain. We were staying in a rental home in Chatswood, a suburb of Sydney’s «North Shore» neighborhood, which also happens to be a hotspot for Asian expat settlment, particularly those from China and Taiwan. Thus, on our first night there we grabbed some boba/bubble drink/bubble tea/pearl tea(I don’t have a preference for what it is named, so pick your favorite) and received a buy-10-get-1-free card for frequent customers. Well, in our handful of days in Chatswood, I decided to make it my mission to get that free drink. Luckily, my partner has a ginormous family and we all convened for Korean BBQ on our last night in Oz, so it wasn’t hard to round up enough drink requests to cash in the free one. Unfortunately(for Sharetea mostly), that night at the shop was extremely understaffed with only one person working there – at Quicklys in the U.S., you’re bound to see at least 3 people working on any given late night, just sayin’ – so the one worker got pretty overwhelmed and also informed me that for some reason they were out of the large-sized pearl tapioca as well as regular-flavored tea. Huh? That being said, after a few adjustments to our orders, she eventually(meaning 30ish minutes later) produced six separate drinks and they were all correct. Wow, you go girl! Not an easy feat. I definitely saw her close down shop once we all exited, even though there were a few more random people hoping to get in last-minute drink orders… I suppose we tuckered her out for the night. I only got one thing the three times I went here, and that was the taro milk tea with custard. A gold standard, I’d say, and here it was pretty good, just pretty sweet(can ask to decrease the sugar amount). Had the woman been snappy or anything like that when we ordered a lot of drinks on the last night, I would have rated this place a lot lower, since the customer service the first couple of times was not great. But because of her stellar efforts, and because I love anything for free, I am now officially a fan and first to review Sharetea in Chatswood. Go ahead, share that tea with the fam!
