The First Class side of the lounge (on the right) is great. The waiter service is friendly, efficient and doesn’t hover. The wine and champagne selections are quite good, excellent for an outstation lounge, with both Cloudy Bay and Veuve Cliquot available. The views are quite good and the made to order food is excellent, though I never saw a menu.
If you’re flying Star Alliance Internationally (and all Star flights out of SYD are international) you really should give this lounge a shot. I didn’t get to try the Business Class side but I can’t imagine it doesn’t kick the butt of the Air New Zealand Koru Club.
Don’t let them tell you you aren’t allowed, by Star Alliance rules, if you’re Star Gold or flying Business or First on another Star carrier you definitely have access to this lounge, and if you’re flying First, enjoy the first class side.
