Great food and service. Went there for dinner on a Friday night and there was no problems getting a table. The service was excellent and we shared an entrée and a ribs and steal combo. The food was good and the service was good too. Nothing to complain about.

We had just the loveliest meal here on Friday to celebrate our engagement. Our concierge recommend it for steak and we were not disappointed. We had no reservations but arrived early and were able to snag a table around six. This place is huge with three floors and it gets very happening and busy. Our waitress, a lovely Brazilian girl whose name I can’t remember, was awesome. My fiancé had the New York strip and I had the filet and they were both delicious, although I wish seasoned just a tad more. Mashed potatoes were so sooooo good. The bruschetta appetizer was the best bruschetta I’ve had in my life(and I’ve had loads of bruschetta). Very nice touch with the avocado and large portion. Great wine selection and ambience makes this for a lovely meal in the Darling Harbour area. Highly recommend it.

Lovely venue on the waterfront with hearty food and great service. I had the lamb shanks which we tender and tasty and huge! Two shanks which were just too much for me! The waiter was accommodating when my friend wanted to check his order and even gave us a tour of some of the closed areas. I’d recommend booking, it was a Tuesday night however we still had to wait 45 min for a table at another venue ancestors their bar was full. It was worth the wait though.

Orderd the SS bone-in Rib eye steak cooked medium rare. OMG this thing is so huge. But so juicy. Slightly charred on the outside but quite delicious. I could feel my arteries clogging up.

Looking for a laid back steak place, come here. The only thing odd is the reservation/seating arrangement. Depending what time you make the reservation, they seat you in areas of it. We had a 630pm dinner time and were first seated next to the window of the cooking oven. As it was too hot, we asked to be seated somewhere else, as the restaurant was empty. They informed us they would have to check as they do it by time and seated us on the out skirts of the seating area due to the reservation time. Odd. Very odd??? Other than that the bone in ribeye that we both ordered was cooked to what we asked for. Both medium rare and juicy. Mines was a bit rare near the bone, which I enjoyed as I gnawed it and my partners at the end. As it was portioned as a large cut of beef, it actually really wasn’t, if you don’t order starters. The bone was more weight than meat and it was a perfect size for me. Great dinner place, though odd seating habit.

Steaks are good; well cooked, plain(as they should) at reasonable price levels. Ok selection of wines, bit pricey. Although the dining room doesn’t look large, the noise level is acceptable. Service is good and prompt but could be a bit more formal, matching the level this restaurant is at.

The Meat & Wine Co was our first meal in Sydney. My hubby was looking for a place that served kangaroo meat and this was the closest place and had an okay rating. It was rather empty the day we came to eat here. We were the only ones eating there so it felt a bit empty. Maybe we came too early? It was Boxing Day too. Not a holiday we Americans really celebrate. The place is actually very big and located in the bottom of Intercontinental Hotel. We had difficulty locating this place because we thought it was a stand alone restaurant. The bathroom is in the back where you have to exit the restaurant and enter the hotel. Décor wise the place reminds me like an Outback Steakhouse kind of place where you can go out with your buddies for drinks. We ordered lamb shanks and the kangaroo skewers. I enjoyed my lamb shanks and I thought they tasted good. The kangaroo skewers were tasty and tender but a bit chewier than I expected. I’ve never had kangaroo before so I’m no expert. The food was very greasy and both my husband and I were very full from our orders. I think we should’ve ordered one entrée. The only thing that sucked was that they charged us $ 8 for each water bottle. Granted it was bottled water but $ 8 yikes. If you plan on eating here, inquire how much they charge for water first before ordering. You can order tap water for free.

We went here to try the kangaroo steak. It came in an impressive presentation on a skewer hanging over a plate of fried onion rings and we ordered it medium rare, as was recommended. The steak was good. The price was fare as well. This place really is all about the meat and wine. If you are looking for anything else on the menu there won’t be much. That being said, I felt like their menu was rather limited, even in choice of meat dishes. My salad was rather sparse and basics such as bread and sparkling water ran $ 7. Not horrible prices, but the menu is definitely geared toward and basically just meat.

Came here wanting to try kangaroo meat, as I couldn’t find too many places in the area that serve it. Plus, it was nearing the end of the day and we were too tired to take the subway from Circular Quay to somewhere else, so we opted for The Meat & Wine Co. Seeing another one of its locations by Town Hall, I knew this was a chain but didn’t think too much about the quality of the food. This is located below the Intercontinental Hotel, and although hotel restaurants usually scream«FANCY,» this was not. The dim lighting and old wooden interiors give this place an intimate ambiance that also reminds me a bit Australian wildlife – almost as if I was dining at a hunter’s kitchen. We had the Farmhouse Lamb Shanks and Short Rib Steak. Both were okay – not spectacular or anything. I think the Lamb Shanks were much more flavorful since it was stew-like and had an explosion of spices. The Short Rib Steak was average – I didn’t enjoy this too much because the meat was pretty hard to chew. We also had a rack of Kangaroo skewers; I’ve had kangaroo before(obviously not so fresh), but I thought this was tasteless. The meat was great and tender, either they didn’t season it well enough, or it just wasn’t enough to overpower the kangaroo meat taste. I did like the onion rings and the Yukon Gold potatoes though. It was a bad idea ordering entrees with a rack, had we known the portions of a rack would be so big. I think it would be enough for 2 people to have their own meat rack as a meal, or maybe even 3. I was a bit annoyed that they asked if we wanted sparkling water as if it was at no charge, only to realize we were going to be charged $ 8 when the Pellegrino bottle came. Not cool, guys. The service, however, was excellent though – my phone needed some serious charging and they brought a portable charge to my table. Our server, Kate, was funny and told us a lot about how kangaroo meat isn’t served as often as we would think. I’m starting to think that maybe I needed a glass of wine.

It was good. The pork ribs and kids steak were good as was the dessert. A few issues: The mashed potatoes needed more cream or butter. The garlic bread had almost no garlic. The table was not cleaned between the meal and dessert.

Good quality, not overly expensive. Nice atmosphere, not formal and yet not too casual. Will definitely go again for a steak in Sydney.

Tucked into a corner of the intercontinental hotel, this is a chic steak house. It has a reasonable(price and selection) wine list to get you started. The food is alright. I don’t think it gets more than alright. The steak was cocked right and the side chips were nice. An extra charge for sauce at an upscale steak restaurant seems cheap. I had scallops for entrée — they were slightly over cooked and too greasy. There are better choices not far from here.

I ate here twice during my stay at the Intercontinental Sydney. The first time I made a reservation for three, the second time I dined alone at the bar. Both times I had the lamb shanks and subbed chips/fries for the mashed potatoes. Since I had it twice I obviously enjoyed it. Cooked to perfection, tasty heavy, crispy and thick steak chips that I dipped in that delicious gravy. The first time I dined there, a colleague had the steak skewer: essentially a kebab of cubed steak on a steel skewer. It arrives suspended above a plate. Looked tasty and it apparently was. The second time, a South African chap sitting next to me at the bar had the same and said it was very good after inquiring about my lamb.

I went here for my birthday dinner and was not disappointed. The staff were great and accommodated the number of changes I made to my booking with ease — even when the restaurant was fully booked. Trying the portuguese chicken for my main,(because I really wanted one of the hanging flame-grilled skewers), the meat was tender; seasoned and beautifully cooked. The surprising thing — this place is not all about the meat. We ordered a number of the sides to share and these were also delicious,(although sides did come with a number of the meals so this was a bit of indulgence). Definitely recommend this place for somewhere a little different for tasty food, great service and rustic atmosphere. 5 stars all the way.

Definitely recommend the BEETROOTCARPACCIO and BILTONG for entre. I enjoyed these more than my mains. Chocolate lava cake tasted like a packet cake but the ice cream was delicious. For some reason the glassware was covered in dust which is a bit off putting when you’re served a glass of wine and all you see in dust reflected in the light. Convenient dining if staying at the Intercontinental Hotel and you can charge to your room. Recommend booking to reserve a table as it can get busy.

Great location at Darling Harbour. Got a seat near the window which gave me a great view of the Vivid light show when it started. I wanted to check out this restaurant for their kangaroo filet. Had it prepared medium rare. It came out perfectly cooked, tastes like filet mignon and had a similar texture. I liked the tomato chutney that was underneath the filet, it didn’t overpower the meat. Potatoes were good. Didn’t care for the onion rings so I put them to the side. Service was good. They say they have wifi but the 2 codes that they gave me didn’t work.

I was staying in the Intercontinental Sydney hotel and a friend recommended Meat & Wine Co to me. I loved the interior ambiance — old wood, leather, and dim lighting. They have great steaks, ribs, and good burgers. We sat at the bar rather than wait for a table and the bartender was very friendly and helpful with favorite menu items. They also have a good selection of beer, wine, and whiskey. Prices seemed reasonable to me for this area of town. Looking in the dining area, it would appear they cater nicely to large groups — mainly men it seemed. I would definitely recommend this place and I hope I can come back some day.

I love the atmosphere, just like an American chop house. The true test of a restaurant for me is the quality of a dirty Martini. They made me an awesome Martini. The steak was great as well, the New York. I highly recommend this restaurant.

I went here for a work dinner with a small group of coworkers and it was a good experience. The atmosphere is very dark, wood, lighting, etc… an upscale hunting lodge feel. It really does feel like the place where a strong red and lots of meat is appropriate, maybe even a few cigars as well. The food selection was pretty good, even some vegetarian items, and the recommended sampler starter had a good selection of items, all with good taste, ours didn’t get finished I think due to too many manners. Everyone at my table went with a beef steak of some sort, mine was cooked as I wished and everyone else seemed pleased with theirs. I was surprised when ordering that the steaks came with some sides, usually at a more expensive steak restaurant you have to get sides a la carte. The service was good, nothing great, but not bad. I was disappointed with our table location, right by the front door, but worse was that it was actually blocking in tables around us, making for a few awkward interactions with our neighbors.

Great location, walking distance from Circular Quay. Ambiance was great from the logo at the entrance to the overall feel of a higher-end steakhouse. First time in, ordered the Biltong for my starter(an all-time favorite experience in South Africa) then to the Kangaroo for my main. Food gets 5 stars, perfectly prepared & presented ‘roo’. Staff was good, — not overly enthusiastic or friendly, just working. They got the job done but were the difference between 4&5 stars.

Of course I had to do the touristy thing and order a kangaroo steak. Even though it came as medium rare, meat was a bit tough but I guess it’s just the way it is and I didn’t let it spoil my dining experience. Really good and helpful service and the chocolate lava cake with pistachio ice cream just made my evening.

Would’ve given this a 4 stars for the food, but service drags(a 2 in my book) it down to a 3. I made a booking online. It seems basic that if you book online and the submission page says you’ll receive a confirmation e-mail and you don’t, you figure out something’s gone wrong. So I e-mailed them. And I didn’t get a reply. But I did get an SMS on the day itself. So if you book online, don’t expect a confirmation. Don’t expect a reply when you e-mail. Hopefully you’ll get an SMS eventually. We were a group of 3 — me and 2 friends visiting from the US. We got into a conversation if tipping culture makes for better service. Summary: it does. They mentioned that while the service they got in Sydney was OK and not particularly bad, it wasn’t really that great either — it’d be challenging flagging down waiters and having to ask them for things like to refill water. That was kind of a repeat in The Meat & Wine Co. Difficulty in flagging down waiters. Nobody caring if water was refilled or not. Now, the ambience of this place is pretty classy, it being inside the Intercontinental Hotel and all, so you’d expect the service to be up to par, but no. My friend ordered a pineapple juice and it didn’t arrive. Followed it up. It eventually arrived with the bill. The food itself was good. I ordered their rump steak, medium well, and the steak was pink on the inside. It was OK but I didn’t realize that their special«in-house basting» meant it was covered in this BBQ sauce type glaze. So not my thing. I would’ve preferred a nice, honest steak. So that meal was maybe a 3⁄5 for me. My friends ordered the lamb chops and the kangaroo, which they said was pretty good. I did try the lamb chops and I have to agree, that was really yummy. So maybe their meals would be a 5⁄5. The coup de grace was when we asked for the bill. I got the bill quickly enough, and tried to pay with my credit card. I tried to catch one of the waiters’ attention. I couldn’t tell if he had seen me or not because he went off in the other direction, so I kept trying to catch someone’s eye. Now, eventually the first waiter whose eye I thought I had caught started making faces at me, pointing at me. He eventually came over, angrily/huffily(I wouldn’t say he was totally angry, maybe 40% angry 60% huffy) saying that he’d seen me and that he had gone to get the machine for the credit card so I could pay. I just let him have his rant — I wanted to pay and get out of there. Given our recent conversation about service my friends and I just gave each other knowing looks and headed out of there. The bathrooms are pretty, though.

Well worth a visit if you are in Sydney. The steak was perfectly cooked and the mashed potatoes were delicious. The was a good selection of wines by the glass. The service was great attentive but not intrusive. The hostess took care to seat me in a warm spot as it was a cool raining evening.

Good, reliable steak joint. I first discovered Meat & Wine Co in Darling Harbour. I was a bit apprehensive about trying anything right in the harbour as everything seems a bit touristy, which in my experience results in overpriced less tasty food. Not the case with Meat & Wine Co. I’ve been to their new Circular Quay-ish location twice now, and can confidently say its every bit as delicious as their DH venue. Great steaks, good ribs, and a good burger can all be found here. Plus they’ve got a huge selection of wine, beer, whisky and whiskey to choose from. Prices are reasonable for a steak restaurant– not overpriced but certainly not cheap(my burger was $ 23, mains are around $ 30−40+). The place caters easily for larger groups(we had a birthday of 25 here that went off without a hitch) and is popular with the suits from nearby offices. I’ve recommended this place to a few of my friends, and know I’ll be back often.
