God only knows what Valerie pays in rent, because there’s no doubt this place is in prime position! Walking out the QVB exit of Town Hall Station you can head straight smack into Valerie’s at the Galeries — perfect if you need your morning coffee fix(there’s always a queue, though I tend to head further along to Luneberger) or breakfast. If anything though, the lunchtime crowds are more bustling, with the sandwich bar doing crazy business as well as the enticing selection of hot foods. But it’s also worth swinging by at the end of the day, because this helpful little shop puts their fresh wares on discount for the homeward bound commuter. Too convenient if you are feeling a little peckish on the ride home, or if you fancy getting a head start on dinner.

Take away supreme — you can get all the hot favs out of the bay marie, my favourite is the cheese and spinach pie, but the chicken pasta also is very eye-catching. The servings are large for what you pay for so it’s good value. Great for a quick lunch and even breakfast the guys here get in early so if you need a quick bite to get you into work, $ 2.50 will get you a luscious fruit tart or croissant. Not bad, huh? You don’t have to go to McDonalds to keep it under $ 5 these days.
