One of the very few French restaurants in the area, and one of the longest established, Le Gaulois is a lovely place to enjoy a meal. Don’t expect modern décor and a cutting edge menu. It’s more aimed at delivering French comfort food in a well executed manner. The service is really very good. Wine is a bit expensive and limited, but you can bring your own. I’m pretty keen on the Duck a L’Orange, as I’m not an escargot sort of a guy, but I’m told(by friends who are slightly more adventurous than I) that they are excellent. Two words that you need to experience here: Crème brulee.
