This spot was one of only a few spots open late and I’m so glad we managed to find it. The food was fantastic and so was the service. Fast, friendly and quality food is served here. The seafood risotto was a bit salty but I loved it, the crispy skin trout was enjoyed by my mother and the kangaroo fillet was also enjoyed by a friend. I will make this a regular spot to dine when I’m in the area.

We came here because it was recommended by trip advisor. It’s located in the historical Rocks area and the restaurant itself is built into a converted historical building. We ordered the kangaroo fillet and the special crocodile burger. The croc burger was worth a try. It was in my opinion, OK. Not much flavor to croc meat and was a bit on the dry side. The kangaroo fillet however was delicious. Tasted like beef with a hint of something else that I can’t describe. We were too stuffed at the end and had no room for dessert which is also what they are known for. Bummer.

We ate here twice this week. First night we had several small plates — calamari, bruschetta and caprese salad — all were flavorful and good. Had the chocolate cream pie for dessert and it was outstanding. We came back the next day just for the lemon meringue pie which was also outstanding. Great service both times from very friendly wait staff. Very nice sidewalk seating.

This café clearly catered to a more upscale clientele, but they earned extra bonus points for tolerating my semi-well behaved children. Go full tourist and try the kangaroo steak, you won’t regret it.

Found it while our walking with friends. Lovely outside seating area, very friendly service, very clean; food is good but as with all of Sydney expensive to eat in.

Good, but not great, food, a little pricey, friendly service. I just wish we had room for all the desserts on display. At our table we got kangaroo burgers(not much different than beef) and a crocodile burger. I didn’t like the taste of the crocodile that much but then again I wasn’t the one who ordered that one… the arugula salad(evidently arugula is called rocket leaf or something in Australia?) was ample and tasty. The fries were very very good!

Had dinner here while on vacation. Fish and chips were good — both were nice and crispy. There was a side salad along with them which was nice. Service was a bit slow with simple things(another beer). We sat outside and had a great time people watching during the Friday night Village Bizarre in the Rocks. Great location in the middle of everything and prices were relatively reasonable.

I’ve been talking about trying a Kangaroo meet since we’ve arrived in Sydney, and I have to admit I was not disappointed. Our waiter recommended us to get it medium rare as it’s not as good to get it anything more cooked than than later, as it gets rubbery. I’ve followed his advice and the meal was exceptional. I can’t wait to try to crocodile burger next time, Hope it would still be as part of their specials.

Fabulous! Absolutely fabulous! Loved the sidewalk café seating. It was an absolutely beautiful day to sit outside. The service was great and the food even better. I wish I would Have had room for dessert. The deserts the window looked unbelievable ! I have never seen meringue on a pie that high! Someone there knows what they are doing for sure! I had the chicken schnitzel and chips. Absolutely wonderful. Presentation on the plate was very nice. My husband had the kangaroo burger(while in Rome). He was a little hesitant, but was pleasantly surprised for sure. The combination of the beetroot relish on the kangaroo burger with rocket really played well with each other he said, and he isn’t a beet fan at all. Looking forward to returning again and I just may have dessert first!

Faced with a morbid curiosity about the taste of kangaroo(«Australian deer» to Americans) I stopped here for a kangaroo burger or filet. The staff convinced me that filet was the way to go. I tried it and to be honest thought it was like a drier, less flavorful version of beef. Which I am glad it was because I kind of think roos are cute and don’t really want to eat them. So why four stars? Because the service was super friendly and the meal preparation was excellent — delicious mashed potatoes and greens served along with the steak that gave me the confidence this restaurant knows what it’s doing. Crocodile burger next time.

We stopped in here for a nice cool drink and a little slice of celebration cake as it was hubby’s birthday, the aptly named mortal sin cake was delicious. There is plenty of seats out the front in the warmth of the sun to people watch and take in the iconic rocks scenery. Service is fast and friendly and the food is reasonably priced.

Was looking for a late lunch on the weekend and stopped in for some burgers. Had a table outside and got served fairly quickly. Meals seemed reasonably priced, and it quiet enough for a chat but not so quiet everyone can hear you. Would love to try their breakfast menu!

Perfect place for a spot of brekkie with friends before the MCA or a bit of sightseeing. They take bookings and are great with kids, the food is good and reasonably priced. Bosh!

Completely overpriced for below average food, the service is good — but the food is really below par.

Amazing. Is a great word to describe this little hot spot. My mom and I decided to go here after walking around out on the town. I ordered the mushroom risotto and my mom ordered the fish and chips. We decided on some garlic prawns and olives for starters. We both enjoyed our meals very much. The food was cooked to perfection. I found my dish to be a little over powering with all the different types of mushrooms but cooked beautifully. My mom also enjoyed her dish and said she would have it again. We sat outside and the atmosphere was beautiful. The service was great. It was nice to see the manager on duty come around and ask if everything was alright. He didn’t just do this once but after every meal. Great added touch. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a casual night out.

For $ 59.95/2ppl, this place is overpriced and over-valued. The iced coffee+cream was the best part of my meal — perfect for a hot summer’s day. The chicken schnitzel consisted of a lackluster piece of chicken on a bed of bagged lettuce and wedges of tomato in between two huge pieces of bread. Very basic sandwich — something I would pack myself for lunch at work in a rush. Had to ask for water; the carafe wasn’t replaced after emptied and a waitress came and took it away. Desserts looked divine, but too expensive after taking the hit on a pricey and lackluster meal. Ambience was nice, restaurant was charming!

Lunch time menu looked ok, nothing incredibly interesting looking. We were hoping to try the Roo that everyone was talking about but, unfortunately, it wasn’t on this menu. Sat outside. Waitress was friendly enough but food was just ok. Pretty pricey for what it was. The zuchinni, carrot, corn fritters(21 $) was ok but had asked for bacon on the side and it came out sitting on top. eww. Burger was fine but really couldn’t justify the price, think In-in-out set on a plate for 20 $. Personally, 4 $ seems more reasonable.

Found this place on Unilocal!when looking for a nice place for dinner. Turned up to find a nice cozy café in the heart of a The Rocks. We all ordered the $ 19 special, which included a gourmet burger and chips with a drink. For another $ 3 I upgraded to a stubbie of James Squires Porter. Perfect with a beef burger! The burger was fantastic with crisp chips on the side. The bun was fresh and delicious, the patty home created, and any burger with bacon gets my vote. The staff are very cosmopolitan, with French, English, and Indian, but this us the sort of place backpackers come for work. No issues, with friendly and courteous staff. The meals we’re freshly made, but didn’t take too long to come out. The only issues was the coffee was too hot. Can’t have them all. Recommended.

I have been living in this city for few years now and I really try to keep away from the touristy place in this city. But I needed coffee… I actually checked a place next door to this café and the coffee was even more expensive so I decided to have it here at the Rocks café(still I didn’t like the price but was cheaper than next door) The coffee was OK nothing fantastic… just average. I was happier coz they have a full display of amazingly looking cakes. All looking gorgeous. I had massive piece of lemon meringue tart. It was delicious. Not sure how the food taste here but I guess good location for all the tourist in the city, at the famous Rocks.

Uhmmm… maybe this is decent by Australian standards, but my spoiled American palate says oy no. The restaurant is in a nice, fun area — lots of restaurants/bars nearby. Fun to walk around at night with all the people outside having drinks, etc. The burger — no bueno. Patty had no flavor and the bun was gross. The shrimp fettuccine was meh — the pasta was overcooked, the sauce had no flavor, but at least the shrimp was fresh. The side salad had a nice dressing and it was quite large for a dinner/side salad. Guess what the price tag on that meal was? $ 65+. Expensive AND not tasty makes me a sad kitty.
