It’s a small museum but has tons of information! It’s free, but please make a donation. There was a lot of artifacts and the museum was well cared for. The staff were friendly, informative, and helpful! I did this museum and then walked over to the Susannah place museum. The rocks is a fabulous neighborhood!

I was wandering the streets aimlessly when I stumbled upon The Rocks Discovery Museum. Popped inside, learned it was free, and entered. The museum itself is in a beautiful old warehouse that has been restored and turned into an informational site. Lots of information regarding the Aboriginals that lived in the area long ago and present day. Loads of artifacts throughout, and on the top floor there is a nice art display, of which I think changes throughout the year.
Was quite impressed, especially with it being a free museum!

This is an often missed attraction at the rocks. The museum was refurbished from an actual sandstone house from the early settlement era.
You will learn more about the history of Australia and the rocks area from this museum. Entry is free and is open from 10am every day.

It’s a small museum, but it’s free (there’s just a donation box). There are artifacts from the early days of the Rocks and aboriginal art on display. I just wish there was a bit more to see, I might have spent half an hour in there tops.

Visiting museums are not everyone’s thing. But a visit to The Rocks Discovery Museum will entertain even the most jaded of people. The museum is located in an 1850s sandstone warehouse that was restored to its original beauty and is all about the history of The Rocks from the time of the original Aborigine dwellers to the present. And it’s not your ordinary museum too! Aside from the usual displays of artefacts and pictures, they also have audio recordings, videos, and even interactive screens to add to the experience. Aside from all these, they also offer some games that are informative and entertaining for the kids like the artefact hunt. Best of all, entrance here is free! It’s a great place to spend time with your family or to simply wander around and admire the history of the area.
