Wow! The place has had a total makeover. Clean, fresh and vibrant. Think plants, think blond timber, and a white and yellow crispness. The staff at the McCafe were cheery and warm. I asked a staff member about a problem connecting to WiFi, and within moments another staff member appeared to assist me. I’m here really just filling in time caus I’ve got a date at a nearby restaurant, so I’m sipping a drink and working on my iPad. I look up and another staff member is at my table, asking how my day has been, how’s my drink and giving me a compliment on the shade of my lipstick! The new Create menu is in full swing here with customers happily standing at the kiosks and placing their orders. This outlet has always been a cut above any other Maccas I’ve visited, and tonight’s experience certainly keeps that reputation safe.

This could arguably be the greatest Rotten Ronnies in creation. She’s 24 hours on weekends, so kaboom right there! Being right next door to the corporate HQ also means that it is a tightly run flagship store and you’re bound to have a quality experience — both service and food. It’s a fairly big Maccas with indoor and outdoor seating, free wi-fi, double lane drive thru and ample parking. What makes this the benchmark store though is the access to limited edition items long after their reign has ended. In my youth we’d hit up Patrick’s nightclub in Penno for $dollar drinks then after a skin full walk back home and smash a Big One burger at Thornleigh Mac. A gargantuan burger it lasted on the menu for eons after it had officially ended in regular stores.

They say a smile costs nothing which is probably why this Maccas isn’t selling them. When I enter a Maccas I want to see a young adolescent child selling their soul to the man. You take your $ 6 an hour and you smile and tell the world you’re grateful. Even if you are dying inside. This is what I come here for. The cruelty. Also the hotcakes. And the freaks. There are always freaks…
