Stuartholme School is a progressive Sacred Heart School, educating the whole person. We are committed to fostering confident and strong critical thinkers, who positively impact on society with courage and compassion.
Our vibrant community is reflected by happy young women who are nurtured by expert, generous and committed staff.
A Stuartholme education offers the ‘best from both worlds’:
* The School is ideally nestled on 21 hectares of native bushland in the foot-hills of Mount Coot-tha, and situated only six kilometres from Brisbane’s CBD.
* Stuartholme is an inclusive ‘family’ community, small enough for each student to be personally known, yet large enough to offer an extensive, ever-changing and dynamic range of opportunities.
As a Sacred Heart School, Stuartholme enjoys an international reputation for its supportive learning environment. The Goals of Sacred Heart Education articulate a forward-thinking and dynamic educational philosophy that forms the framework of a well-rounded educational experience, so that our graduates can engage successfully in life after school.
History
Established in 1920.
Stuartholme School is an international School of the Sacred Heart. The Society of the Sacred Heart is an international congregation of Catholic religious women, established by Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat in France in 1800. One of 200 schools in 40 countries, Stuartholme was established in 1920 with just five young girls.
Like many other schools during this period, Stuartholme became the 42nd General Hospital of the United States Army during World War II. During this time, students continued their education at Canungra and then at Southport.
For much of its history, Stuartholme operated as a boarding school only. Although the School now caters for both day and boarding students, the Boarding House continues to provide Catholic secondary education for many girls who would otherwise not have this opportunity. Stuartholme is Brisbane’s only Catholic girls’ boarding school.
