This deli café was a reasonably new discovery for me and although small, their Merlo coffee and various salads, deli goods and the fig, walnut and cinnamon muffins leave me content when I’ve run out of coffee beans at home. I’m always intrigued by the different customers I see each time I visit. Sitting on the front tables you can see«soccer mums» enjoying a coffee and cake or Queensland Rail workers grabbing a gourmet lunch before heading back to work. It makes for a gourmet deli without pretention and I like it.

This is a great little deli/café to have nearby. I’ve only ever had coffee from there, but the food always looks amazing, with big salads and delicious-looking sandwiches made up in the cabinet. The coffee is Merlo so you’re guaranteed a smooth, rich blend. The café has some seating out the front, but I don’t think it has great ambiance as the shopping complex and carpark are a bit drab. If wandering down for your morning paper from the newsagent, I recommend grabbing takeaway coffee from the deli and a pastry from the bakery – makes for a good Sunday morning.

I’ve got to admit that Deli Café has become a favourite coffe-hunting ground of mine since I’ve moved over to Toowong. While I’m yet to be able to comment on the quality of their foods, which unfortunately I haven’t had a chance to indulge in, Deli is certainly worth a visit if you’re after a quick coffee. A large takeaway is cheap at only $ 4, and the girls working the coffee machine certainly know what they’re doing. Bitter and crisp with perfectly heated milk everytime; it almost makes the skin on the back of my neck tingle when I think of it.

Tucked away in a side street off Milton Road and passed by by all but those who know about it is this gem of a café deli in the Cat and Fiddle Centre. Home to delicious gourmet burgers, scrumptious breakfasts, handmade salads and pastas and some of the best customer service around. They stock a great selection of sauces, cheeses and other gourmet goodies and also take orders for take home family pies that almost bump Yatala Pies off the top spot of the best pie in Brisbane list. Being just off MIlton Road, its a great place to stop in for a take away coffee and pick up a salad or sandwich on your way to work.
