I’m a firm fan of Imagine If — they have a huge range of toys and games that are just good, clean fun — you don’t see the big commercial offerings of Barbie, Littlest Petshop, PonyVille, Transformers, etc — and it was explained to me that they don’t stock all the war and violent stuff, either(having two girls, I can’t say I’m looking for those anyway) as a policy, but the stores are all jam packed full of things that are… Fun… yes, that’s it — Fun with a capital F :) There is definitely an educational slant to the toys here — or, maybe, like the name suggests, they’re all things that will stimulate the imagination. I can spend an age in here, while my kids browse too, so they’re definitely doing something right. The Unley store was my first Imagine If, and is still by far my favourite. It could just be the history of being the first store I visited, but it just seems to have the best range of stock, and the staff seem friendlier. The kids love all three we frequent — here, Burnside & Newton though, so they’re all pretty good :)

This place is so much fun. I wish toys like this existed when I was little, then I might have turned out a little bit smarter and perhaps more worldly. maybe. I have heaps of nieces and nephews and if I can get them something educational and fun for their birthdays and Christmases then I feel like I’ve kicked ass in the Auntie department. I especially like the box sets where you get to create something, like the jewelery sets and clay modeling, the puzzles are also pretty cool too. You can get little stocking fillers here or one big expensive gift if you’re cashed up and its fun sifting through all the neat toys that are on display. If you’re a big kid like me then Imagine if is everything you want to play with in one store.

Some of the best toy gifts I’ve bought have been from ImagineIf. Despite a relatively small space(compared to the toy departments of Kmart and Myers) they have an amazing array of toys in a wide variety of categories. There’s always something a little different and while many of the toys are on the pricier end, there are some great gifts for under $ 10 that kids around the 5-year-old mark absolutely love. The one disappointment for me was they never seem to have any sales. Maybe that was their point of different, but I try and stock up at toy sales for the dozens of birthday parties we go to each year. Recently, they have started offering Lego at 15−20% off. It’s a start and may be a sign of things to come. If you want a toy that will impress, go to here and make the most of attentive and knowledgable staff that will show you many options. You can’t get that at Kmart.
