If you take the road less travelled(Old South Head Road) then you’ll find one of the better fish & chip shops in the Eastern Suburbs. Unlike some of its counterparts Vaucluse Ocean Food & Fish Café is a no-nonsense, down to earth, reasonably priced local seafood takeaway joint. Growing up we would come by Vaucluse Ocean Food & Fish Café, grab a couple of ‘seafood baskets’(approx $ 30 each) and head to the now not so secret Strickland House to enjoy our feast by the ocean. Nowadays this is still one of my favourite things to do in Sydney on a balmy afternoon. There are of course plenty of options to tempt your taste buds like grilled baby octopus, garlic prawns, dill butter salmon, but the ‘seafood basket’ gives you a taste of everything(fish, prawns, octopus, scallops, crab) plus chips in the perfect portion for two. Highly recommended.
