Despite working in the area well since before the previous Transport building was renovated into The Watson hotel and apartments, today was our first visit to the Local Grind for lunch. It also coincided with the release of their new menu. I chose the smashed pumpkin for my meal and a beautiful glass of the Black Dog Shiraz as my choose of poison. Absolutely loved it and will definitely be back to the other scrumptious meals like what my friends chose — the beef burger and the new asparagus dish. Service was great and the styling is amazing. Im already planning another visit in the new year, possibly for TGIF drinks with friends. Put this on your list of must try places!

This place is on the ground floor of the Watson apartments and hotel. A really nice space, with some outdoor and indoor seating. Probably not the most child friendly space due to the closeness of the tables, but certainly good access for those with mobility impairments. Cool, quirky décor but most importantly COMFY chairs. The service is good, staff are polite and attentive without being pushy. The menu was a bit of a let down as they have gone for extremely trendy items and buzz words which makes it a tad overwhelming or even off putting. My fellow diner and I were after some breakfast but we nearly ordered only coffees after reading the menu. However, we decided to take a gamble and he ordered poached eggs on sourdough with a side of bacon, and I ordered caramelised brioche with vanilla crème patisserie. The eggs were perfectly poached, which I always think is a sign of a good chef. The bread was delicious, the bacon was also very nice, clearly a specialty product. My brioche was divine, crisp and sweet with a beautiful decoration of perfectly cooked rhubarb. The only fault was that the caramel had glued the brioche to the plate and it was difficult to remove. I noticed other diners also ordered eggs with sides of bacon or spinach, and Local Grind should take note of this. Trendy items can be fun but there will always be a large group of patrons who want good quality bacon and eggs.

The local grind is attached to the Watson hotel in Adelaide. It has tasty food and excellent coffee. I had the lamb should ciabatta — it was full of flavour. I particularly liked how the bread was fresh and toasted. It comes with one half only so you can taste the full ingredients on top. The atmosphere is lovely. You can also bring a laptop or newspaper and read and relax if you want to! I just stopped by on a quick visit to Adelaide and it is a great little café option if you stay at the Watson.
