Bowerbird is a handy suburban gem serving Cleanskin coffee beans and a variety of pre made snacks. I had a meeting here recently and chose the café as we both had little ones tagging along on the day and the play area is great for kids. It’s also close to a park if you feel like some fresh air. I always feel a bit underwhelmed when I leave this café. It has so much potential to be great but the décor(worn out old couch), pre-made food and plastic plates leaves me feeling a bit meh. On the upside, I have always found the service to be friendly. I’d just like to see them try a little harder to make it a great place.

On occasion we go here as it’s convenient, but we have had to deal with rude service a number of times, and the coffee isn’t super great, they do make a good ice coffee though? You tell me? Seems to be marketed at yuppie parents, but in all honesty, there aren’t too many of them in these parts, worth a try if your desperate for a coffee and can’t be bothered heading down to Fish Kitchen at Toombul

The kids room at this cute place is perfect for keeping toddlers entertained long enough for their parents to enjoy a coffee and something to eat. That’s why I regularly drive about 10 kilometres from home just to come here. They don’t have a full kitchen, so they offer pre-prepared simple fare — that’s fine with me in theory but unfortunately the choices on offer are a little limited and not particularly nutritious. Would you like some toast, a toastie, croissant, muffin or cake? Given that Bowerbird Café target parents with young kids it’s also surprising that they don’t have child-friendly menu options. Yogurt, fruit or cereal would be a winner with my lad if it was offered. I like Bowerbird Café but their limited menu dissuades me from going more often.

The location is the only good thing this place has got going for it(50 mtr from my house). The food is bad, the coffee is burnt and I don’t know why I keep going back! Our daughter burnt her mouth on a baby chino that was adult hot, one time we were sitting out the back and they forgot about our order, actually that will be the last time I go back…

This cute little air-conditioned café in Wavell Heights is the perfect place for mothers groups and ladies who lunch. Step through the front room, past the counter and into a room perfect for large groups, and through again to the children’s playroom. The playroom has couches for mums to sit on and enjoy their cake and coffee while the kid’s play with the toys, books and draw all over the chalkboard. They sell and serve Saint Coffee’s signature blend(by Cleanskin Coffee Co.), which is a Queensland roasted brand of beans and the coffee is pretty damn good. I often find it’s a bit hot for my liking, but I know many people like their milk scalding. The coffee prices are pretty standard — $ 3.50 regular, $ 4 large, $ 4.50 jumbo. They sell a great variety of savoury and sweet items including Focaccia sandwiches, ham & cheese croissants, cupcakes, slices and eclairs. The cupcakes are really cutely decorated and they sell mini ones for $ 2. There is also a mini shop in the café where they sell children’s petticoats, shoes for both kids and adults, bags, crotchet baby hats, bags and canvas prints.
