Great café in waverley, really nice staff and especially the Indonesian lady that is there most of the time. They have a really nice mixed fruit, wholegrain fresh muffin each day, and a range of other fresh foods that you can eat or take away. There are sandwiches, burritos, salmon patties, frittatas, quiche, curries, salads and nasi gorang. You can also order eggs and toast etc to eat in. They have smoothies, coffees and milkshakes. I got the chicken and corn cakes(you get two) to take away this time(I’ve been many times before) with salad — it’s delicious, very large and flavoursome and only $ 9. They also have frozen meals and pies which you can take away so easy to purchase meals at home. Every time I take a friend there, they love it too. Natural and casual atmosphere. Very fast service

Stock is an unassuming café on the quieter end of Charing Cross, quietly but successfully churning out fantastic café fare. It’s got none of the pretensions of the many other Eastern Suburbs cafes that will renovate and redesign based on the latest trends — just simple, clean lines with a sprinkle of homey knick knacks, and consistently tasty, morish food. Yes, all their food is pre-made(though daily if not more frequently, and on the premises) but they’re not ashamed of it, with all the options laid out to tempt indecisive minds in their front cabinet. Thankfully, all the hot dishes are reheated to steaming hot with no cold spots, the salads always taste fresh and the staff are happy to patiently smile and answer questions even if you spend 15 minutes umm-ing and ahh-ing over the corn cakes, zucchini fritters, haloumi and spinach tart or the day’s quiche. My only qualm would be their chai — too watery and the spice mix isn’t quite balanced. But with all many top notch smoothies, milkshakes and coffees, it’s not like you’re stuck for options. Or perhaps you are…
