Anyone who supports local band talent will admire Hogan’s, an amazingly still independent pub after nearly 50 years. They provide a fantastic venue for homegrown bands to do their thing and plenty of my younger friends are diehard regulars at the Wednesday Washup, when the local bands take to the stage, hosted by and recorded live by the local radio station Bay FM — cool. I’ve only eaten at Hogan’s a couple of times, but it was really good food. The lunchtime Coast Bar food is dead cheap and tasty at around $ 7(this is also available on the Wednesday and Thursday jam nights at this price, and that’s cool too!). The restaurant’s more expensive, mostly in the 20’s, but the food sounds mouth wateringly delicious.

I realise I have categorised Hogan’s as ‘Pub Food’, but just to be clear, really it is pub food at it’s finest. Hogan’s is perfect for almost anytime of day. I have been many times for either a casual lunch out on the deck over looking Moreton Bay, a family alfresco dinner in the Bistro, for a quick coffee or for a few drinks with friends in the Coast Bar, enjoying a live band. Prices are reasonable, their is plenty of spaced out seating and their is a relaxing ambience. Hogan’s has built up into a local establishment over the last 40 years or so and has undergone a massive refurbishment. I really like the recent additions of weekly entertainment on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday nights. Local boys from the Sunday Wash Up now lead the Wednesday Wash Up, with fantastic local Brisbane bands.
