Iron Chef Japanese Dine-In and Take-Away small restaurant set on Harbourne Street in Wembley. Opened for lunch Monday to Saturday and dinner from Tuesday to Saturday with last orders being 7:45pm. The place looks small like a takeaway shop but it is one of the best Japanese places in Perth. Delicious and always made fresh to order. The menu casts an assortment of Japanese favourites and many more with lots to try! All dishes are freshly made less than 15 minutes before pickup, high quality ingredients and includes soy, wasabi, pickled ginger when ordering the sushi. The main menu dishes comes with rice and garnish and the prices are reasonable. The sushi is made to order with the freshest ingredients and again the menu has lots to choose from. This time I ordered an entrée of Agedashi Tofu which is deep-fried tofu served in a warm soy base broth which was an excellent start and very tasty! I also ordered the tiger prawn sushi which fresh and yum and I thoroughly enjoyed both dishes immensely. They also do sushi platters for corporate events or parties everyone will enjoy it! Highly recommend trying this Japanese place it’s fantastic!!! :)

The city’s best sushi! I’ve never had a bad batch from Iron Chef, the seafood is fresh & the chicken is quality, not grissly like others can be. It’s all made fresh when you order, so call ahead if you don’t want to wait. Best for takeaway… Bit of an obscure location but worth making the effort to get there, large servings & reasonable prices. Big platters available for catering too(see photo). The chef can seem a little like the Seinfeld soup nazi at first but he just takes the food very seriously & he’s very warm once he knows you. Iron Chef has a legion of loyal followers, join the club!

I love iron chef! Who cares what it looks like if it serves up bloody good Japanese food? It is what it is. a takeaway joint. The sushi is all made to order which means the rice is still warm! Yum. Unlike other takeaway, or even dine in gyoza, they are crispy and made with rice flour which makes them gluten free. The salmon sashimi is also beautifully fresh and generous in its size for the price. Yes the owner is a little abrupt but I had a chat to him the other night and I couldn’t shut him up he was lovely! Perfect takeaway Japanese place. call ahead it takes 15 minutes and it will be there waiting for you when you arrive!

Best sushi I’ve ever had? No… definitely not. The sushi and sashimi are OK but not anything to rave about. The rolls are quite large so Iron Chef gets 3 stars instead of 2 for value. This is not a place you would want to stay and eat so definitely call ahead and take away! Wish they had more of a selection but basic rolls seem to be a trend in Perth that I am repeatedly not impressed with.

This is your classic case of ‘never judge a book by its cover’, and also an excellent example of how most people will put up with anything a restaurant throws at you if the food is good. Iron Chef looks like the kind of place you might get stabbed, and the chef himself is particularly off-putting — BUT it is, without doubt, the BEST sushi I’ve ever had. If you’re after the best sushi in Perth, go to the Iron Chef. If you’re after a nice, friendly place to enjoy a meal, go anywhere else.

This very dingy looking takeaway Japanese place has AMAZING Sushi. Very authentic Japanese, so delicious at a decent price. The Chef seems quite grumpy/angry when you talk to him, but that’s just the way he is so don’t be discouraged. I have had most of the Sushi from here; my favourite is the Prawn Tempura so fresh and tasty. The Tempura here is very nice, light and crispy as it should be. The ingredients are all fresh, and the Sushi is always made fresh when you order it. It’s located in Wembley on Harbourne Street, it’s easy to miss, so if you’re planning on going there make sure you know what you’re looking for. I’ve travelled from Mullaloo just to eat here, so if you like Japanese feed you should try this place.

Don’t be fooled by the outside or the inside of this«restaurant» it does look like something you would run away from, but The Iron Chef’s sushi is one I have come back for many times. The sushi is always fresh and product is good but it is appreciated by the chef to order your take away meal in advance. I was kindly made aware of this when I barged in for the first time with three friends, and chef seemed a bit flustered to prepare all this take away food with such short notice(in his defence he was the only one working and there were two other customers). Another piece of advice make sure to bring cash, last time I was unable to pay with my card which meant I had to drive around to find an ATM.
