So Fat Chicken has changed a bit in the last few years.
There are new owners and chicken (which should be a staple, easy to cook food at this premises) is overcooked and butchered (well it was during my last two visits).
There are plenty of better chicken and chip shops if you must satisfy the need, but ultimately grab something healthier, there’s plenty of options nearby.

First of all, please ignore the negative review below from Bill A. This local fish/​chicken shop is great! I would highly reccomend the «salt and pepper squid pack» and the «seafood pack». I am also quite a fan of their chips and gravy. I love getting their chips and gravy then walking down to the beach with it and watch the ocean while eating it. Brilliant! Keep up the great work guys!

OMG has this Place gone down hill. I had the misfortune of buying a fish pack and a garfish pack and am so sorry I did. The pathetic excuse for chips are thin greasy frozen variety. The fish, battered beyond recognition (which was inedible and accounting for about a third if the total pack volume) and was doey and thick inside and as greasy as it could get outside. Sorry but I will never return

Perfect quick fix for a picnic on the beach (5 minutes away) and you will walk away like a stuffed… well you know…
I don’t know if my partner and I looked like we needed to enter the Biggest Loser but we were recommended the Family of 4 Chicken Pack for $ 28. This would totally have been worth it if there were 4 of us, not 2 of us, but instead half of the garlicy, mixed herb stuff moist chicken and the chicken salted, crispy, perfectly fried chips went to the seagulls — despite our hardest efforts.
Next time we’ll know to suck our tummies in when we order…

This place totally rocks! Lunch time specials are great and they are super fast and friendly! I think part of me really likes this place because its where I retreated to for comfort food when I had a bad day at work hahahaha. Good chicken and chips here!

Fat Chicken in name, but not in nature. This place is a salad specialist.
Just down the road from West Beach there are a LOT of chicken shops to choose from. I thought I might try this place out and see how it was. I was pretty impressed.
I decided to have a chicken burger as I was intrigued with the sweet chilli mayonaise. I love that stuff, it’s like the best of both worlds; you have the tang of the mayonaise and the sweetness and heat of the chilli. Magnificent! When I got the burger I was initially a little disappointed with the amount they put on the burger, but it turned out to just be enough. I should have had a bit more faith…
I mentioned this place is a salad specialist and seriously, you have to try the chicken special. I didn’t ask what was in it, but wow. They also have other salads that I haven’t tried yet but I’ll be back to check them all out.
